well I just added a hack that fellow SMB3 hackers know is a good thing: You can now place coins or bricks in the air OR water. Before, coins could only be placed in the water of Water object set levels, but now they can be in any water, hehe

Hammer Bros. are gone, they cause too many problems with map design since you have to have pointers on each and every road tile that they can access

Every item can be found or bought more than once. Some of these items can make the game really easy, but you have to spend the time to collect the coins to get them. Remember, the original SMB3 wasn't that hard at all, but incredibly fun. However, if my hack needs to be more challenging, I will create a "challenge" version for those looking for comething harder.

The thing is, the item has 5 uses. So you can go to a stage with a secret suit and rack up on those suits since giant ? blocks regenerate themselves. Also, this item can only be won in the ice bonus stages, so it's rare.

The item space has been expanded to hold 49 items, so I think that's plenty of space

Yes, this hack should work on the real hardware. I've had no problem with it not working in any of the emulators thus far.

Item find in a treasure chest in levels is determined by a Sprite in the level. The Y position of that sprites determines what item will come out of that chest. As for other data...
My personal notes and actually updated with more stuff, but mostly ram locations.

The problem is I DID have it and I told no one about the link. It was there for private beta testers...

Also, they attached a PDF of their copy of their deal with emulation and what not, same thing that's on their site I think.

I think they were complimenting me to make me feel like they were the good guys and doing the right thing.

Well I'm going to still work on it, this just means I can't really release it. Publicly. I'll find someway to get it out to the world. I just wonder if they'll attack others like Fusoya or BMF.

Yes, with hacking, Mario and Luigi can get Star/Ice powers relatively, but in the normal game, they're only accessible by what I set (Mario = Ice, Luigi = Star).

So the palettes are the same, or universal throughout the rom? And did you expand the rom past the hardware support?



No, the ROM has been expanded to the max a MMC3 chip will allow. As for the palettes, what do you mean the "same" or "universal"? The palettes really have no bearing on weather or not the hack works on real hardware. I didn't use a custom palette file for this.

Yeah, I figured you meant the custom palette loaded by the emulator, so no, I didn't use one. Maybe someone will load this sucker on a real cart someday and sale it in Taiwan or something lol

Well since you are using SMB3, I recommend this method:

LDA #$46/47
STA $8000
LDA #$bank_number
STA $8001
JSR $Your_new_routine

at the END of your new routine, use THIS
JMP $FC6F

Do NOT use an RTS

What this will do is go to the existing bank swapping routine and put what was originally there and at the end of that routine, you'll be placed right smack where you first entered out of the original bank. It saves on time and space, a nifty work around I came up with.

It may be your version of the hack. I know the hack isn't complete, but I thought the latest version went up through half of world 3. But that's not an emulator issue.

Just so everyone knows. I'm at the "Freckles" portion of DDR 6th Megamix. Doing a Megamix sure is tiring, it's hard keeping everything in sync for every song change, but hey I think people will like it.
