I've used many recovering programs. PC Insepctor, Get Data Back, and WinHex, a hex editor that will scan the entire hard drive for a string of data. No dice.

I just _now_ heard about this. I'm prepared to step in and see if I can't do anything about it. But first, uh, how do I make my own comment? Do I edit the page like any other Wiki article or is there a special form to use to post my opinion?

Actually, this is what was lost:
Pipes that lead to other worlds function Making pipes appear on the map screen after completing its castle Unlocking pipes Keeping track of unlocked pipes Keeping track of what fortresses are completed Keeping track of what locks are unlocked two different locks two different keys Display current amount of green coins you have Display levels completed with green coins obtained A lot of object definition altering Water currents Birdo A water background tile map, allowing for background tiles that act like water 6 levels Object redefinitions (tile mapping) More pattern tables that can be switched out with some objects So yeah, it's a lot more lost that what you'd think. |

first off, I've spent over a year and a half working on this hack and have essentially "restarted" twice (that is going back and redoing the levels and the map systems). I'm not cancelling it, just putting it in ice until I get the motivation to work, but if people keep saying what I'm choosing to do is the "easy way out" or what have you, it doesn't help with the motivation bit on continuing this hack. It's a hobby, it's meant to be fun and when you use 3 weeks of work, it becomes very unfun to have to redo it.

Uhm, everyone I've met that plays Stepmania at the arcade knows who you are. In fact, some people idioticlly think that DDR SN ported songs from Stepmania like... AA (yes, they think you did the original Hiryuu... go figure).

I finally got some intimate time with DDR Supernova and got to really get to know what the game has to offer.
My favorite songs atleast after today have got to be: Flow: The sound just rules and the steps are jumpy, but not TOO jumpy. It's enough to make it fun but not over done like DXY. Add to it some neat rhythms, the whole song stays very interesting. Dynamite Rave Super Euro Version: I just love the turns and the rhythms in this. It's kind of like a mix between the original DR and Down Bird Sota Mix (step wise). I like it a lot, whored it for a 96% AA Red Zone: Just freaking awesome song. The end has some pattern to it that has you turning a complete 360, but I have yet to get it down pat. Long Train Runnin' (by Extreme, not Bus Stop): It's kind of short but it has really good gallop rhythms and a nice slow down, the end is wimpy on the steps, it's the same pattern mirrored back and forth. AA: Not really like it's predecessor step wise. Where as A was fast and furious with it's 1/8th note streams, AA comes at you with gallopy rhythms and complex turns, but it's still a medium 9. Xepher (Oni): GALLOPS FROM HELL. Sorry, but Maxx Unlimited's gallops are easier than this shit. Other than that it's basic fast and furious 1/8th note streams. Doesn't help that this bitch is off sync > Healing D-Vision: VERY freaking fun. The 1/12th jumps are just so fun to do. But after the speed up it gets hard to read at 1.5x reverse. Other than that a very fun Extra Stage song. Wookie Wookie: I was very surprised with this. It's a mostly a basic 1/8th stream fest with a few set of 4 16th notes which feels kinda off since 16ths usually come in pairs, 3s or sets of 5. The jump portions are rather fun too. Toxic: The new Freckles. What can I say, this is a very fun song for me. An easy AA really. I use this when I want to play HDV. Freedom: Basic 8ths with some gallops. There's a really fun gallop spin in it that I didn't realize at first, yet still managed to spin to it. The end was a surprise with a 16th note run, but after a 2nd attempt I AA'd it. Brilliant RED: Go Naoki 9 footers! I really liked this song with it's use of 16ths and a lot of jumps. It's like the new Broken My Heart Love at First Sight (Twinmaster Mix): Nothing like the Max 2 Love at First Site in steps. It has some Ecstacy Midnight Blue Mix gallops in it and it feels rather off, but it's nice to see it's not a 8th note fest. Innocence of Silence: Reminds me a lot of So Deep, not near as hard but just as gallopy. The end is definitely the beef of this dish. The gallops start on 16ths and end on 4ths rather than the traditional way and there's triple 16ths gapped in there. It makes for a fresh idea and very fun stepchart. All in all after finally getting to spend a good 2 straight hours playing Supernova I can judge it for what it's worth. Once the syncing issue is fixed in the patch it'll be a worth sequel, but for now I'm limited to the on sync songs only. |

Oh ok, well by Arcade Max and Extreme Standards, it's based on dance points. 93% dance points = AA. Perfect = 2, Great = 1, Good = 0, Boo = -2 Miss = -8, Freeze OK = 6. By Supernova standards you have to get 95% and Perfect = 2, Great = 1, Freeze OK = 6 and everything else = 0. By 5th Mix standards an AA = Full Combo, any number of greats.

Meh, why spend most of your time playing old songs? Sorry, but it irks me when people play nothing but old Extreme songs on SN, why not just seek out an Extreme machine

I haven't done much in the way of doubles cuz DDRSN here is $1 a game for 3 songs, so that's $2 for doubles, don't really have that kind of cash to spend. I have played a few times on doubles. Toxic, Freedom, Red Zone, AA and Mr. Badaba are mong the ones I spent a fair amount of time on. AA kicks my ass, it has a nasty run that's a lot like Lemmings on the Run Expert Doubles on ITG, forward and backwards, it's killer...
Para Respect is a lot harder to do on pad than it seemed like at first. The end run is nuts. I might give it another go later today once I get out of class. |

Nowhere that I know of. Some places have cut the original tracks of other songs to their DDRSN counterparts, but it seems like most are taken from output feeds from a SN cabinet. It may be a while stil until we see proper song rips. Even so, there are simfiles out there using these output feeds, but their syncing is very very horrid and some use the wrong steps and even wrong notes (the HDV I found used 16ths all the way through when it should use 12ths)
Edit: Ok I tried Para Respect more seriously now. I got to the run of 5 8th notes over and over again, but that was about it. As far as stamina goes, it's not that bad, but the moves you have to pull are kind of hard. I managed a few new AA's though: Flowers Long Train Runnin' (X-Treme) Moon iFuturelist is like, a whoe 1/8th note off sync, it's horrible. I don't think Konoko no nanatsu no oiwaini is very on sync either. That sync fixing patch couldn't get here any sooner (edited by DahrkDaiz on 08-24-06 08:52 PM) |

Uhm the Afronova walk isn't so bad.
Do it like this: Up Left Down Up Right Down (repeat) That's the Afronova walk from a different angle. Just do that same motion but face the left and do Left Up Right Left Down Right. Simple as that. |

Er.... I thought a roll was a freeze that required you to step off and back on so many times a second, not a roll as a rotation...

Well I've been in a relationship for 17 months without sex and it seems like it may be another 2 years before sex becomes a reality in this relationship and boy the idea of that makes it really hard to stick around. How long have you went without doing the deed?

The off sync issue in DDRSN is not a mere perception issue. Some songs are literally an entire quarter note off sync (iFuturelist comes to mind). This issue is only appearing in US and European release, none found in Japan. Konami even made an official statement saying they are now aware of the cause of the problem and is releasing patches to arcades sometime in the future to fix it. some believe it's a sound hardware issue. I personally believe it's the fact that most builds were made in March of 2006 (ours is 20060303). Some songs have a bad BPM setting, others have a bad gap. Others are dead on. I believe it's poor game development on Konami's part.
Edit: I forgot to add, I passed Healing D Vision finally today, though it was in a non-stop course, not 1.5x reverse. I also BLOW at Stepmania now, I can't even AA the easiest of 10 footers anymore (edited by DahrkDaiz on 09-11-06 11:58 PM) |

Omg, I just heard a small sample of the remix of Faxx Maxx on the V-Rare 8... and I'm simming it. It's only a minute or so long but it's going to be pure hell. I'm aiming to out shine Hiryuu on this one.
Edit: Ok well it's out now. Crude graphics, Oni only. Get it (edited by DahrkDaiz on 09-14-06 04:44 PM) |

I dunno about me padding stuff. My pads are teh "bleh" cuz of the control boxes and I can't get a video out to my TV, so DDR on Stepmania sticks to the keyboard |
