Has anyone made any guides for this yet? I would be willing to contribute, and help with adding to the FAQs.

I have finished everything except Shiek's Hideout and Nabooru's holes, including climbing Parallel Tower 3 times, only missing one bottle and one heart otherwise. Having to climb it again in the icy world (I actually didn't know where the chest actually was, I missed it first climb,) that was totally unnecessary. Maybe put the chest somewhere lower you have to backtrack to in order to get it or add an extra puzzle.

Needing only the Fire Rod and the Cane of Somaria, I got to Ganon. It's almost like there is no point of beating the dungeons. Those clues are just unnecessary, except knowing how many keys you need before climbing the tower (found out online) and the one about walking through those doors.

However, remembering my LttP, which I know very, very well, I know that you need the *Master* Sword to damage Ganon, what "level" it is doesn't matter (Zanapher and myself did a lot of messing around with this game a few years ago on the GameFAQs board. No one knows more about how the game works then him. At least he did...)
I droped in on Ganon and wasn't able to damage him, and assume this was not changed. I hope so. I also heard people say they didn't get the Master Sword, which leaves me scratching my head.

Some other comments:

The story *definitely* needs some polishing and seems amateurish.
The overworld was very well done. The map needs work, though. Especially the markers that don't make sense (#1 - Go to Parallel Tower. #2 - Get the Master Sword. #3 - Go back to Draegor???)
The guard house was awesome! Don't get rid of it! Make it the way to Draegor or something.
I was disapointed in only being able to change worlds at one spot. It works for this hack, and it is doubtful to change, but one of the coolest things about aLttP was jumping between worlds and the interaction of the two.
The dungeons were great! Darunia's Caverns was probably the worst, just a giant maze, kind of like a final dungeon. I loved Ruto's and Saria's and Rauru's even in the dark. We'll see if I like Shiek's and Nabooru's (am I spelling that right?)
(Don't listen to the naysayers too much. Change too many things and they'll say it's too easy instead or whatnot. Go with your gut.)
Actually, the dungeons I liked the least were the 3 in the first world. They all had major design flaws for such small dungeons, but I already saw you take good criticism on them and are going to use it, so it's all good.

I am missing exactly one heart. I have read there are more than 24 hearts in this game (in pieces) so I wonder how much I am missing. I don't want to comb the game over again now...

So, does anyone need some help writing FAQs?

(there are gameplay spoilers in this post)

Heart Piece Help:

I am still missing exactly 1 heart and I am going to go nuts unless I can find it. Is there a container I could have missed? Anyone have a work-in-progress list of heart pieces/containers? Is there exactly 20 hearts in the game or are there extra heart pieces as I have seen someone say? (They should be removed if there are IMO, unless you want to be able to have 3/4ths of a heart on top of your 20 hearts as part of the design).

Are there any pieces that are easy to miss that spring to mind? Are there any in the Dark World dungeons (besides the one outside Ruto)? I got two pieces in the Parallel Tower. Are there any in the Waterfall Cave besides the one I found? (I could swear I saw another on a platform but can't find it again, either I was wrong or I got it somehow and forgot.)

EDIT: I got the container in the Parallel Tower too. I got the one in the bow house and the one in ?'s house, the one in the church at the beginning...and I think there was one more somewhere.

Regarding the mispellings found in the game we have a patch ready to be released. It's currently being beta tested thoroughly through. Here's a few screens from the intro that shows a more appropriate monologue in action already. I'm too lazy to go ahead and post screens from all the game, but believe me or not it's all done. Just needs testing now, wait and see...

Those screenshots looked excellent, looks like just about all the things I felt negatively about during this game are getting addressed. May I be a tester? I am going to be starting the second quest as soon as I finish Nabooru's Hole, my final dungeon.

Additions to my feedback:

Shiek's Hideout: Excellent. I have an extra key, I understand this is normal, but it should be removed, there should be no extra keys and the dungeon should be designed so that they aren't necessary if they are. I also had an extra key in Rauru's Ruins.

The first world dungeons were all unpolished and left me worried about the rest (I do have to say that showing all that stuff underwater in Nayru's Bay was cool, it is that notable - but the vastness made me feel like I was missing something, it was too short & easy after the Guardhouse - which I loved as I said unlike most - and am sad that it is being changed so much, unlike all the other issues being addressed very well in response to (in spite of sometimes bad) feedback), but the Dark World dungeons have been great.

Great work again, both the overworld and the underworld (I still have criticism with the overworld map not being polished enough, though, and that less should be clouded. The overworld map doesn't accurately represent even the visible areas in some cases.)

Also, that Waterfall Cave, that place is a hellish misleading deathtrap and needs to go or be revamped in a major way.

Bomb jumping should not be removed, but limited more, as should the floor tiles.

Also, what's the deal with this screenshot (attached), a screenshot of a full inventory of a perfect game minus the Mirror Shield (that's the level 2 shield in the screenshot) and Nabooru's Crystal (and two bottles are empty). I thought the empty spot was in the bottom-left corner, where the bottle flyout is in the original game. Instead it is apparently in the spot the bottle flyout is in the order it is in the original game. This looks bad, like I am missing something. Having a blank spot in the bottom-left would have been fine, but IMO this needs to be fixed.

EDIT: The time stops at 10:00 on that screen, a bug. The start screen shows the correct time, up to over 16 hours so far! (But am nearly finished).

The updates that are coming so far seem to be all excellent decisions that fix all the bad things, except when you cater to people's wishes too much especially in regards to the Guardhouse (being able to save should be all that needs changing in any major way in the Guardhouse IMO,) and removing any dark rooms from Rauru's Ruins too (Darunia's Cavern should lose some of it on the other hand). If the Guardhouse is completely revamped as was planned (and apparently already in progress) it should be kept as a final dungeon or something. Adding a final dungeon from the bird-drop point is a good idea IMO, something small and rewarding (but no treasures - rewarding yet simple puzzles perhaps) or something like the Guardhouse.

My final critical emphasis for this long post: Make the Dark World dungeons required somehow, and make sure you know what you need to complete each dungeon as they are very intensive and turning back at the end because you didn't have the Fire Rod for instance sucks. Shiek's Hideout also nearly required either the Mirror Shield or the Cane of Byrna. Perhaps the cape should be placed before any Eye-Shooters. So yeah either say what is required in the dungeon or give a proper suggested order that works, whatever is most polished keeping the spirit of the hack.

EDIT: Bring back the maps! Please! They are important to some like myself. The X-R function can be rewired to L+R or something else.

EDIT: There are enough heart containers and gratuitus heart pieces that you can have dungeon bosses drop heart containers (at least the ones that don't give you a jewel) without any major changes to the game. That could be a good way to make them "required" - and you can have a minimum heart requirement to trigger the final fight to help things as well, to make sure you've done enough. That sounds very good to me.

Thank you again for this great hack and let me know how I can help! (This goes to FAQ writers too!)

To the creators: again, I would love to be a beta tester (pretty please?) - email nephalim27 at aol (obscured for the spam-bots)

Further Suggestions:

Many of these require some serious asm hacking of the inventory. I think it is necessary to polish the game - and having a blank spot in the middle of the inventory needs to be fixed IMO (high value change). Hacking the inventory will potentially solve many complaints (by many, not just me,) including these suggestions by me. ASM hacking/workarounds are needed as it is clear you can't get a new inventory item in a slot that is already used. The only way around this that you apparently found was dropping things in an upgrade pond.

You should not be able to lose the better items by picking something up, period. That doesn't mean they should all be easy to get, however! Those suggestions are my biggest ones.

#1 - You are probably already doing this, but being able to get the Red Boomerang even if you got the Blue one.
This requires inventory manipulation unless you make it a pond thing - because then you lose one and get another instead.

Ideas: Do the normal pond thing (maybe too easy and overusing the pond), or you can make it so you lose the blue one in the pond (get nothing back) so you can get the red one wherever it's hidden - Give a clue at the red one's location, perhaps at the pond, perhaps elsewhere.) Or a hard-hack, obviously.

#2 - Another losable item: Magic Mushroom and thus Bombos.

Idea: Make a hint not to take the magic powder again after you lose it, or almost no player will get the 2nd mushroom and thus Bombos as they visit the magic shop often.

Ideas: (unmissable) hint before you lose the powder not to take the 2nd one "for a late secret" or something (polish language). Even better, make it so that you can get the 2nd mushroom even if you have the powder (inventory hard-hacking required again). You can use the Bombos slot for the magic mushroom instead of the magic powder slot. If you didn't get the powder however this presents a problem that would require the 2nd mushroom (which could be in either place!) to go in a different slot - major hard-hacking sadly. Or, even further out there, you can make it so you can't get Bombos unless you've gotten the Powder once or have it.

#3 - Magic Regen & The Cane of Byrna makes the game too easy. With 1/4 magic & Bombos, you can use it almost unlimitedly. The cape, oddly, sucks away the magic like crazy unlike the cane. Then again, 1/4 magic & Bombos is a prize well earned.

Ideas: No magic regen without Bombos, or make the cane take much more magic than it uses now (like the cape). Even without Bombos, you can still use it almost unlimitedly with 1/2 or 1/4 magic. Or you could make magic regeneration much slower all around, or make the cane use more but have Bombos refill much faster as a reward for this late item.

#4 - Parallel Tower - Limit to 2 necessary climbs, and say how many keys you need at the beginning of the tower (a warning or something, climbing all the way up for nothing would really, really suck. Or warn (emphasize) that you shouldn't climb the tower without all the clues or you may have to return, or make it impossible (another way to make the dungeons "mandatory.") Fix the optional hard puzzle so you can return to the game after it, or give a hint to come back after reaching the top instead of tackling it right away.

#5 - Nabooru's Holes. Not bad, but not the best. Needs the most work of the Dark World dungeons (the otheres need little to none.) Impa's Ways is total trial and error, and it was good, but 2 dungeons of that sort isn't a good thing IMO especially a tough one like Nabooru's Hole.

Very long post and a lot of things to say! I can't really comment that much about it, more than the faq parts. =)
I'm starting my third playthrough at the moment. And I'm making videos of all the bugs I can find. And I can also make other kinds of walkthroughs, like the heart piece one. Explaining where they are and making screen shots and such. Shall I make some kind of a regular walkthrough as well...? Not sure that I can be arsed to it, and my English isn't the very best. But I might give it a shot. I prefer videos before writing.
But if you like, Nephalim, we can work with a faq together =). You can contact me at Tompa_1989athotmail.com if so.

Orochimaru: Are you going to fix those kind of "bugs" when you jump from a cliff and land on a bush or rock or similar? I've been including those spots so far... Just wanted to know if it is neccesary or not.

EDIT: I've started to make maps of everything in the game now. All houses, caves, dungeons etc. Going to take a year or two...

EDIT: I just realized that would be quite stupid... The update will include lots of maps changes, I presume. I guess I can edit those pics.

Orochimaru said the overworld bugs will be fixed, FYI, "eventually" (for 2.0).

If you make the video, I will do the writing. This goes for anybody. Let me know if you are interested, and I will give you my email. If you post the video, I will download it here.
Yes, considering 2.0 will be made, going overboard on a walkthrough or specialized FAQ would be a waste of time...right now I am going to compile Frequently Asked Questions for this version in general. I will make a heart piece/container list if you give me the video, and I will consider anything else you propose (the overworld won't change much - we can map that. Neither will most of the Dungeons, especially the Dark World ones, but again I am more interested in a FAQ for the dungeons and most other things which I am going to write and post a WIP right now.)

I finally did it! 20 hearts! I missed a full container in a certain dungeon in certain hidden room(s)...

That leaves me with 20 hearts and 1 piece. I know someone reported having 2 extra pieces, which make me think there are 3 pieces extra total, to fill out your inventory and make things easier as the bosses don't drop any.

Attached is a picture of the inventory of a "perfect" game - except for these questionable missing pieces of heart.

How high do the rupees go? 9999? It's much, much harder to have a ton of money in this game compared to LttP.
Suggestion: I also have 99 Arrows and 99 Bombs, but it isn't reflected in the inventory. It should be.

I have all the tablets, and am off to Ganon. I'll let you know how the "secret" goes. I think I am going to write a FAQ today.

Another suggestion: Show the tablets on the status screen, and show .1 to .3 next to the tunics like the swords...

Here's the FAQ I promised. It comes to a screching halt with the Icy World Dungeons, but it gives maps for the hard ones, and is pretty good with general questions that aren't in regard to the dungeons themselves. I am too tired to finish right now. Hope it is useful in it's current state.

I submitted it to GameFAQs but they said it was over margins (it ain't) and that it will take extra processing yada yada yada. With word wrap off notepad shows 79 characters/row.

UPDATE: I fixed it. But I won't post the fixed version here.

I'm working on an update to my FAQ/Guide. Within 24 hours. Looks like Tompa has some nice stuff to contribute, too.

The Nabooru's Hole map link is broken. Anyone know where I can find it, and who I can credit these maps for? Or do you just want to do it yourself Tompa?

GameFAQs first rejected it because it "wasn't commercial" and "can't be played legally". When I tore that apart, they rejected my new arguement that it "goes beyond the scope of any game they cover". Any ideas there? I can rebuke again quoting the response, but it's a matter of opinion...

I am thinking screw them, I can use pictures and everything, but Euclid it would be nice for you to get the noteriaty of having a guide there....

Ok, as promised, version 1.1 of my FAQ.

EDIT: Re-Released to contain corrections, additions, and formatting fixes.

This FAQ contains links to all relevant information available including videos and contains *embedded* maps for all that are available. No more searching for information!

Enjoy! And thanks to Tompa, he did most of the maps and all (I think) of the vids.

(Note that this is in .Doc format, please notify me if there are any problems.)

Euclid: I hope this is getting to meet your standards, and we can post it where deemed fit by you.

EDIT: Ok, Now I can't post it as a ZIP because I can't delete this post or post a new one.

Argh.

EDIT 2: Ok, temporary hosting.

It's available in 2 formats: Word DOC format, and straight HTML.
The HTML seems easier, but if possible please use the DOC format.

I urge you to download the DOC, as for me the first time I opened it the file just sat there not properly downloading the images. If you download and open it, the pictures will be embedded in the DOC. However using the link in your web browser will open the DOC in your web browser (IE at least..)

Here's the link to the DOC version: http://www.geocities.com/nephalim27/Parallel_Worlds_FAQ_1-1.doc

(Note that while it is a Word document, Wordpad (which is standard with Windows) CAN open this file, including pictures, but has problems with the Word margins and the formatting gets all screwy.)

And here's the HTML (fully online as a webpage) link: http://www.geocities.com/nephalim27/Parallel_Worlds_FAQ_1-1.html

Looks like I will be maintaining a text-only version still *sigh*...

I'd like to hear your thoughts at this point Euclid, and SePH.

EDIT: UPDATE: EXPLOITABLE GLITCH: LEVITATION: There is indeed a way to levitate across gaps, the A-Button/Pegasus Boots Hover Glitch, which is preformed simply by using A on turbo fire. The built-in system for this in ZSnes is too slow for it to be preformed, and you need to change the standard setting. Under Input there is an option "Turbo at 30Hz". Turn that off and it will work. The ZSnes info courtesy of Tompa.

Let me know how it is! Send me an SRM or SNES9x Save State, I want to play it but don't want to waste my time in the Icy World without the Hookshot (I was about to head in to Din's Catacombs. Actually, it might be worth hosting...but I don't want to make Euclid or SePH angry, that might be taking it a step too far...

(Don't you need the Hookshot in Shiek's to get through to the transporter in the room with falling floor that you need blue blocks to be down to get access to the boss?)

I am going to play the 1st quest again instead but skipping the Guardhouse via the save available as I don't want to have to do that again.

I got your corrections and suggestions and will implement them. I am not thinking I will be releasing another version unless there are substantial changes or you have submitted a bunch of your stuff to add.

EDIT: I will add to my post about it anything substantial that comes up. I am going to add the levitation glitch that many people were just asking about.

EDIT: FAQ Officially "Re-Released" to fix some things and add a bit of info. HTML
Formatting fixed - the file was changed to all html-format view in both formats. I noticed some double spacing missing as I uploaded it but it will have to wait, it isn't critical.
P.S. - Euclid, you can post it wherever you want in however fashion you want.

you only need 1 crystal in second quest to get the powered up silver arrows. Having more than 1 doesn't make it more powerful. The idea is to beat only Darunia's Caverns because you'll have to go there for the red cane anyway, Sheik's become a more optional dungeon for the cape.

Why do you need one crystal? Where does the game check that you have a crystal before giving you the silver arrows?

...I'd really like to know the conditions for getting the big bomb. In the original, you had to save the smithy's partner (done automatically) and beat levels 5 and 6. Did you change these to other specific dungeons?

Tompa: You don't have an SRM for it?

EDIT: Stupid one post limit. Can someone lift this, what do I need to do?

What I was trying to post -

Bah... I have apparently used all the save states that I had for the second quest :O. Sorry Nep. You don't need to go to any other dungeon than those I mentioned, so that'll save you some time at least.
No, you don't need the hookshot in Shiek's Dungeon, just run into the wall and bounce over.
I'm taken so much time with the boss FAQ that it's killing me, lol. I actually found it rather useless to calculate how many hits you need to kill the boss with every single weapon. Like this:
Armos Knights: Found in: Cave where the lamp is, Nayru's Bay, Saria's Gardens, Parallel Tower
Lvl 1 Sword: 48 hits.
Lvl 1 Sword SpinAttacks : 24 hits.
Lvl 2 Sword: 24 hits.
Lvl 2 Sword SpinAttacks : 16 hits.
Lvl 3 Sword: 24 hits.
Lvl 3 Sword SpinAttacks : 16 hits.
Lvl 4 Sword: 16 hits.
Lvl 4 Sword SpinAttacks : 12 hits.
Arrows: 3 hits.
Silver arrows: 3 hits.
Ice rod: 6 hits
Fire rod: 8 hits.
Bombs 12 hits
Bommerang: 12 hits.
Hammer: 16 hits.
Cane of Bryna: 48 hits.
Cane of Somaria: 48 hits.

To do that takes a very long time. So now on I'll just finish the Piece of Heart FAQ instead. 30 pieces are done so there are some more to go.

EDIT: Interesting, it looks like the level 2 and level 3 swords have identical damage...I wrote in the FAQ it had a more powerful spin attack as some have said. It could just be that one enemy though.

Definitely taking it way too far. Just compare weapons that are important or noteworthy for that boss and definitely drop the stuff you can't have yet, like for those Armos Knights almost all of that can be dropped....although you do face them again, not sure if they are identical in this regard. Cane of Byrna is totally unnecessary to give exact hits. It's interesting to note the weapon's relative power level, however, you can bring Silver Arrows down to 1 and then make a general comparison chart. THAT would be interesting, and where it diverted, and sticking to the important strategies with bosses.

But the Heart Piece FAQ is far more important, IMO. If you actually write it yourself then the FAQ will truly be co-written by you and you can get your props (for something very important). Either way with all the help you have made it what it is and I am not holding anything back, it's just weird writing as "me" in something co-written . I'll figure it out.

EDIT: Some advice - organize the heart pieces by the order you can obtain them (and perhaps provide an alternate index by geographical area).

YET ANOTHER EDIT: I changed it to just "by Nephalim and Tompa" in the Re-Release. Take a look. And no, DOC files can't be opened (properly) by Notepad - but they can by Wordpad which comes with Windows by default. The HTML and DOC should appear identical at this point.

My FAQ now works completely bug free with Wordpad! Including the pictures! That means that ALL Windows users can fully access the DOC without having to have a web page open, including those that don't have Word. (XP was the only tested, the document was made with Word 2000 so it may require 2000/XP+ (or the quickly abandoned ME) But I doubt there are many still using the old Windows 95 and friends. They can try.

Wordpad comes with Windows in any standard installation, but to open the DOC the easiest thing would be to open Wordpad, but then you need to change the file type to DOC or all, it is set to RTF at first. Then you need to click on View->Options and the Word tab will be open. Turn off Word Wrap. Viola, good to go!

But again I leave the HTML option to you. I most definitely am looking for a way to make it more presentable "out of the box". I will see if I can make a PDF without page breaks, with them simply isn't an option.

This guide will likely be included in the 1.1 release of Parallel Worlds, so please send me your comments, here or by email (which is in the FAQ). The Guardhouse Walkthrough that comes with the game will be included with it. So will the heart piece guide that Tompa is making, and hopefully his boss FAQ.

I will again provide the links, as it was re-released and the changes were significant enough from the original 1.1 to warrant it.

Now, since I can't create another topic, I am going to speak of something unrelated: my own search for heart pieces. I am looking for all the heart pieces I can get in the 1st World before going to the Icy World.

I have 9 and 1/2 hearts. I THINK I have gotten all I can get, but I could be mistaken.

Here's the shorthand list I made for myself (I will try to make it clearer for you.)

Tompa, let me know how close I am. This might be helpful to you, anyway.

Ok, heart pieces I have gotten:

Spoiler:

#1 - Outside Library (sitting there)
#2 - Sky Isles Cave (Behind Old Man's room) in chest on spikes
#3 - Through the fake door in the Rebel's Hideout, Bombed the South Wall.
#4 - Vanilla Isles middle strip (sitting there)
#5 - Room with an ally somewhere, bomb south wall (sorry I didn't make this clear enough to myself - see if you can fill this one in Tompa.)
#6 - Lupo Quarry at pond entrance (sitting there)
#7 - Kakariko big cave, chest 2nd room (requires gloves)
#8 - Kakariko small cave (hole cave), chest
#9 - Lupo Intersection down by caves on the way to Guardhouse (sitting there)
#10 - Outside Guardhouse, behind block stacks
#11 - Hookshot in Guardhouse Cell
#12 - Chest Game (Lake Saria far side)
#13 - Lake Saria far end sitting there
#14 - Waterfall Cave heart w/ hookshot
#15 - Behind Lvl 2 Sword Barrier @ Ancient Pyramid
#16 - Cave behind pyramid (chest)
#17 - Canon Oasis (visible upper-right), by going around from Pyramid Falls
#18 - Piece above Link's House (Din's Catacombs)
#19 - 3rd Ship (Din's Catacombs)
#20 - Din's Catacombs chest by ship exit
#21 - Forest, hookshot over holes, middle area (sitting there)
#22 - Secret Meadow (glove required, sitting there)

I marked two I had to pass up: (I am sure there are more I didn't that I just didn't bother to write down.)

Waterfall Cave w/ Cape (past bumper in sight on platform to right of high grassy area)

Victory Beach on upper-left land strip, come around from Ancient Pyramid (w/ Level 2 Gloves)

I also got some nice capacity upgrades (99 Bombs = Kickass), and the Cane of Byrna.

Finally a personal suggestion for version 2.0: Make the Level 2 Shield easier to get sooner in the game. It is very hard at the beginning of the game (just on the overworld) without it.

I'll add it to my FAQ tomorrow!

I found two more in the 1st World, for a total of 10 hearts. Tell me how I did.

The final two:

Spoiler:
1 - In the Woman's House in the Misty Forest
2 - In the 1st World Triforce Shrine (in the open)

Now in the Dark World the hearts will be piling up, especially those few full heart containers.

I am finishing a run through myself including heart piece locations, to compare with Tompa to see if there are any missed (doubtful) or if there is anything I can add. Once I am done, it will be included with my guide, the comprehensive FAQ, along with the Guardhouse Walkthrough that SePH wrote and included with 1.0, and the whole thing will likely be packaged with the 1.1 patch. I may have to lessen picture quality to keep the file sizes small.

Tompa: If you scroll back, you'll see that I wrote which hearts I got before I left the 1st World, and wanted to see how many I missed. It looks like I missed at least one, and it's straight out in the open in the Sky Isles. Don't know how I could have missed it...

EDIT: I am also doing this playthrough to correct some information and think of things to add.

One MAJOR thing: When I got Quake, it said that THAT had the special effect by being iny inventory. I thought it was Bombos? Which is it?
