Hi, my name is Drag, and I used to be registered here during the past two board incarnations.

I got rid of that big (as in a lot of code) redundant post layout I used to use, and created this one when I registered at the secret board, but I'm still planning on making a better layout.

Yeah, uhh, does anyone remember me?

I'm a programmer and a computer science major at college. I know C/C++, Java, and (ugh) VB. I also know assembly for the 6502, and the Gameboy-z80 (since it's slightly different from a normal z80).

I'm not actually an active rom hacker anymore, but I have played around with NES homebrew, and I've ripped GBS files before too.

Did you change your screen resolution or the refresh rate recently? When you unplug the lcd screen from the computer, does it still turn on and off? Are you using a VGA connection or a digital one?

These are really the only things I can think of. An LCD screen is certainly supposed to last for more than a single year.

Back when I was using VB, I would use pset to draw my images. Yep, that was pretty slow, but this was maybe 4 or 5 years ago, before I knew C++. Then I found out about bitblt or whatever... isn't that GDI? When I used bitblt, it wasn't as bad, but when I had to do per-pixel things, it was still slow, even when using GDI's pixel setting method.
Also, why does the scaling default to twips? Why doesn't it default to pixels? What are twips good for?

VB is ok when I'd like a fast way of testing something out, but if I were making a game or a program, I'd use C++.

Edit: AAAH! Kawa's layout is attacking me!

I thought 'desu' meant 'this'.

'this' would make more sense than 'are'.

Oh, in that case I don't know what it is, sorry. I was thinking maybe your lcd stopped liking your resolution, but if it's still turning on and of even while there's no feed, then something probably is shorting out or something. You could try leaving it unplugged and letting it sit to rest for a while. When my CRT was wearing out, on two occasions, the monitor would turn on, but the screen itself wouldn't work. In about an hour, it'd start working fine again, but the CRT was 5+ years old, and probably on its last legs. But I dunno if you can wait your problem out like I could.

Try LG, NEC, Samsung, or LiteOn.

Edit: Of course there's most likely a bunch more, but those 4 brands are the ones I'm more likely to trust.

I really like the older overworld. I love how angular, diagonal, and uneven the paths look!

Also the isometric pseudo 3d effects on the water, and how the grass isn't fluffy and hanging over the cliffs. That looks nice.

Porn, mostly. You can't use blu-ray for porn. Sony forbids it.

That or they'll use it to hold a super duperly LARGE game that uses 64-bit bitmaps and hour long cutscenes.

I've noticed that some people had some CSS that they were @importing. Whenever the CSS is on a server that is either slow, or no longer responds, the thread will stop loading and wait for the request to either time out or to finish. Is there any way to import CSS and still allow the thread to continue loading if the server is slow?

In my high school, during my freshman year, one of the science teachers in the school had collapsed during his class and started having a seizure. Later that day, he died. He collapsed around the end of the school day; we had maybe 20 minutes left. We all had to be evacuated, partially for our safety (in case it was something in the air), and partially so the emergency people wouldn't have a bunch of students in the way. We all ended up being dismissed, since the busses were coming anyway.

Another thing that happened was someone poured deer urine in the vent system, and our whole school started to stink incredibly powerfully. We had to be evacuated again, but we weren't dismissed or anything.

Edit: Aside from those events, there's always people dying due to car accidents and stuff. I've seen people standing around the flagpole with candles on multiple occasions throughtout each year I was there. The only really noteable student death was one who was fighting in the army or marines or something, I don't remember.

Edit 2: Oh, also, someone at the college I go to committed suicide a few weeks ago. On campus, there's a building that is 5 stories high, with a stairwell right open in the middle (with railings of course), which has the food court, computer labs, etc... and someone jumped off of there. So yeah, that must've been one huge splat. Apparently, it was someone who hadn't registered for his/her classes for the upcoming semester.

I don't have any screenshots or anything, but setz and I are going to try to enter the PDRoms.de Make-An-LCD-Game-For-A-Console-Or-Handheld competition. I'm doing the programming, and setz is doing all of the artsy creativity stuff.

At home, we use Comcast cable internet. They've increased the data transfer rate so many times, but I rarely actually see any improvement. Plus, my upload rate probably is crap.
At school, we have a huge network we connect to. Each semester, we have to run a security scanner thingy which makes sure that we have the proper antivirus software (Symantec Antivirus Corporate) installed, and stuff.

Though, the first time I ran it, it locked windows update to the "automatically download and install everything without my consent" setting, which I *hate*, but working some magic with gpedit.msc undid that lockout. I like my setting to be "notify me when downloads are available, but don't download or install them".

I also installed Windows 95! Windows 95 is so awesome, dudes! It's MUCH better than windows 3.1, guys! This is the future! What else do you think Microsoft will do? Do you think there'll ever be a 3d operating system?

Man, I'm having so much fun with my SNES guys, but I'm REALLY looking forward to that Nintendo Ultra thingy that's coming out! I heard it had 3d graphics!!! OH MY GOD!
