I don't see why spiders are so awful, just because they bite, or that they can, improbably, kill. What doesn't?

I am not sure, but spiders are probably "scary" because they are one of the few creatures that can kill that we come into contact within in our own homes and back yards.

Other animals kill, but we don't seem to have as much contact with them so I don't know if they freak as much of us out.

Plus, growing up you get to see everyone else freak out and then you adopt that fear / phobia yourself.

I know it's silly to speak of fear as something rational, but there are lots of things in our backyard that could just as easily inhume us.

I fear spiders because they're something over which I have no control.

Are you afraid of life, and everything in it then?

If you're after a reason or a meaning behind your existence... I personally don't believe in that. You have to make your own reasons.

In that case, why not just flip a coin, if it's as easy to die, as to live? If there are no reasons for either side, then there seems no reason why not.

I have no such affinity towards bugs, arachnids, or any such critter that you guys seem to have. So I can't speak out of experience.

Amen, dude. I had the flu and a lower respiratory infection for Christmas and I felt so much more wonderful the first day that I was well that it was almost worth it =P

If such a fluctuation between such differing things effects "good," is being on the line in between opposites, the ultimate "bad"?

Small things have a small chance of having a big effect. All pasts converge into one future. Except in the immensely rare case of small things going into the past or future. Can anything really be inevitable? Must I value anything, must I have a reason to live?

Do you actually want some kind of help, or are you just philosophically babbling?

It won't bother anyone. In such a case, should I quit "babbling" and get to the point, as some might say?

I don't think I hold a fear of the incomprehensible, if that's what you're saying.

There's a point? Really??

The Officer's Club is traditionally a place where people seek help for things. I would like to know if you are actually trying to seek help, or if you are trying to start a philosophical debate. Because if its the latter, I'm out, never had the stomach to go and read a bunch of Nietzsche or anything like that.

I'm sure we should get right to the heart of this situation, and be done with it?

So goodness isn't f(t)= Asin(wt), where A and t approach infinity, and where the f(t) is infinity is the perfect good, and f(t) equaled to negative infinity the perfect bad; nor is f(t)=0 the ultimate bad? You're just confusing me now.

I'm not really afraid of spiders. But I would still be pretty freaked out if I rolled over in the middle of the night an saw a massive tarantula in front of my face, even though I know they're harmless.

Phobias don't make very much sense, now do they?

I'd personally say that I don't think that's plausible, but in the case that it is, most of the cars here can't process E95 or anything of the sort, and things like E15 are even harmful because of adverse chemical bonding. Nuclear power is the way to go, I think.

I'm quite sure that whatever that post was supposed to be, I'd be better off not reading it.

I got my Microeconomics book today in the mail, and it seems fun, and not mangled. And my physics teacher gave me a set of books, and they are shiny and yellow and green. Jubilations! O=

After further reflection, I shouldn't really care about fitting in, now should I? It would be rather boring, I suppose.

Yes, I should think so. Nuclear power requires a preexisting infrastructure, costing billions of dollars, and ruling out the safety issues, it still takes a good deal of time to put them into usage. Fix the power grids first, since they are pitiable and waste a lot of energy. Since I don't suspect that people will stop using electricity anytime soon.

It's nice to have some sense of belonging, but I guess it depends what you mean by "fitting in". I "fit in" with a bunch of weird geeky types, but other than that, everyone else thinks I'm weird.

I'm happy with most people thinking I'm weird though Or crazy.

For me, there is no bunch of people. It is just me.
