Uhoh. Someone hecked the board again. Smallhacker already depicted this once. I shuddered for a solid minute.

Taking me enough to keep steady right now...a.sdfg.a.

Kinda figured it'd be a matter of time before Guitar Hero got ripped off.

Stepmania did it nicely for DDR/ITG.

I swear, if someone made a DDR-type game for actual guitar playing, I would be ALL OVER that shit. I would never put it down. EVER. To the point where it'd be unhealthy.

That's probably just the next step period for that simulation series. Once they did something like that, it would BE the real thing, not some five string plastic thing that's with a guitar. There is GuitarFreaks, but I dunno how close to the actual guitar that it works. I've never played/seen one.

Phil would know, though.

Well, at one of the two jobs I -can- but only when I get a chance to and I'm not doing much of anything.

On certain days and where they are, this is a common thing. However, I can't even get on AIM. :\

LENGTH ALERT

Finally got the scores put up in a text file and added some comments. This will give you an idea of what I've been up to for the past four months. EE's probably got me beat, but even still...

General comments: Kickass song. I like the beat to it.

MEDIUM - 6 *
92.22% S
2x, Overhead, metal

HARD - 9 *
71.77% B-
2x, Overhead, metal

Comments: Incredibly tough step patterns for a 9. Half of it is trouble for being so fast and the other half is trouble for being partially offbeat.

Agent Blatant
-----

HARD - 7 *
81.16% A-
2x, Overhead, metal

Amore
-----

General comments: #1 song for the machine. Song’s not that great, though.

HARD - 8

2x, Overhead, metal

Baby Don't You Want Me
-----

HARD - 7 *
89.67% S-
2x, Overhead, metal

Bloodrush
-----

General comments: Kickass song. Guy that I talk to that fixes the machine said it reminds him of the Blade soundtrack. This song, in general, kinda reminds me of Sync with the way it’s presented.

MEDIUM - 8
89.97% S-
2x, Overhead, metal

Bumble Bee
-----

General comments: The extended version of the DDR song. Not bad. Not bad at all.

HARD - 7 *
93.58% S
2x, Overhead, metal

Comments: Close to the original.

EXPERT - 9 *
77.57% B+
2x, Overhead, metal

Comments: Retarded EX steps, IMO.

Clockwork Genesis
-----

General comments: I like this song; I like a lot of songs by Inspector K. What I hate are the steps. The steps on this are nowhere NEAR a 7.

MEDIUM - 7 *
78.26% B+
1.5x, Overhead, metal

Cryosleep
-----

General comments: Simply put, a must-play. This song is another reason why Machinae Supremacy rock for their electric guitar-based sims.

MEDIUM - 5 *
93.25% S
2x, Overhead, metal

HARD - 8 *
93.29% S
2.5x, Overhead, metal

Comments: Fun, easy 8. Good spin/turn pieces in the step pattern.

EXPERT - 10 *
76.61% B+
2.5x, Overhead, metal

Comments: Not a bad EX, per se, but the very end is so, so, so very chaotic it’s hardly funny.

D-Code
-----

General comments: Not a bad-sounding song, honestly. The steps aren’t all that hard unless you do this song modless.

HARD - 8 *
81.14% A-
3x, Overhead, metal

EXPERT - 10 *
72.21% B
3x, Overhead, metal

Comments: Panzy 10.

89.02% S-
2x, Overhead, metal

Comments: Good steps in general. A good warm-up.

HARD - 8 *

Determinator
-----

HARD - 8 *
89.49% S-

General comments: A decent remake of the already overkilled Disconnected. The only problem is that the step patterns suck so very much.

MEDIUM - 6 *
86.89% A+
2x, Overhead, metal

HARD - 8 *
75.61% B
2x, Overhead, metal

Energizer
-----

General comments: Dare I say orgasmic? I’m sorry, but this song is played practically every time I go to play on the machine. I may not be able to do the 10-Hard, but I can do the other two just fine and that’s good enough for me.

EASY - 5 *
94.98% S+
Overhead, metal

MEDIUM - 9 *
87.52% A+
Overhead, metal

Comments: Probably one of the best, if not the best, pattern in the game.

Fleadh Uncut
-----

General comments: You know, I evaded this song for some time until my sister came downstate to visit? It’s actually a very nice sounding song and VERY reminiscent of SAKURA that got toned down slightly. Even then, the HARD steps are a trifle difficult because of the second half that uses 16th notes that go at 132BPM. Cool stuff, really...just wish I could pass the EX.

General comments: This song is scary until you do it and survive to tell the story. I mean, shit, the song sounds scary right from the get go. Aside from NOVICE, all the stages have hand plants and an abundance of freeze patterns. The one I did for MEDIUM several times has several times where it forces moves (spinning and turning awkwardly, for one). I haven’t tried HARD yet, but I assume it’s quite devious.

This is a step-pattern you do NOT want to have a crowd behind you with. If you’re the show-off type, like me, it will hurt. A lot.

I tried Driven, which is a 9 and has sweet, sweet music. It’s modded to Hell, unfortunately. The first stage might be passable by me but...lmfao...Pandemonium modded to Hell was funny to watch and harder than Hell to play at the very beginning. Had I figured out the pattern at the beginning I would have passed it...but it would have ended soon after, I think. It’s really something to see to believe.

You can see my recently fixed GrooveStats here. Note that my home version scores are generally markedly higher than any arcade counterparts.

Notes on your comments..note that I'll generally be going on my home version experience for the ITG1 songs, though I've played some of the songs in the arcade...check the Groovestats for which ones.
-Stepcount isn't everything (Though it is a good guide). Infection really isn't too bad to me on Hard despite the 500+ steps. On the other hand, I rofl at the Expert chart.
-I completely agree with you on Oasis Expert (I think). A lot of people say that it's one of the easier 10s; I say the chart is complete bullshit.
-Amore is probably the #1 song on EVERY machine, thanks to what I like to call Default Song Syndrome. You can probably figure it out.
-My D-Code Expert is NOTABLY higher than my Hard score...by something like 8%. Figure that one out. As an aside, supposedly D-Code is getting re-rated to a 9 for ITG3. I completely agree with this change, and frankly, I'm not sure it's even THAT hard.
-Tribal Style is basically So Deep on steroids. I believe it was the 3rd 10 I passed at home (Queen of Light was first, My Favourite Game was second). Again, despite the stepcount, it's really not that bad if you're strong at So Deep or songs like it.
-I <3 Bubble Dancer
-It looks like we have about the same comfort zone as far as reading speed goes. That's pretty cool, particularly as I'm so used to seeing X3 at a MINIMUM thanks to way too much time on DDRFreak and/or ITGFreak.
-How the hell is your Rock Out score higher than your Party score? Also, any particular reason you played Party on X1.5 as opposed to X2?
-Watching someone who knows what they're doing on Driven is something you must do at some point if you can. Some of it is highly amusing--the very last freeze of one of the songs goes to -100000% Mini, putting a HUGEASS arrow on the screen--but Energizer in particular is amazing to watch--the slowdown in particular does one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

And I think that's it.

A thing to remember, though. Most of the scores, especially the ones with no comments on them, are ones I've only done once or twice. There are a select few I've done better on in the past week (most notable, One False Move; that damned song is great on Hard and I pushed it to 88%).

Driven I got through the first stage today, barely, and immediately failed when Energizer started. Fucking Boomerang.

Tribal Style I could do if I had just a little bit more stamina. I was dying about halfway in so that's why I quite. The song isn't so bad it's just I use too much stamina to hit certain steps and, consequently, I run out of juice before I need to get moving again. Right around the part where there are less steps I start losing it and that's mostly because after a huge amount of stream I'm not used to slowing down; it takes me a second to adjust. If I don't adjust, I die right there - plain and simple.

As for the course scores, it was just when I played them. I've only played each one once and I think Rock Out was one that I did later on. Rock Out, however, has MachSup all over it and I play those songs like crazy...that could be a big reason why.

Ironically, Bubble Dancer was the first ITG song I ever did.

Infection I've passed on keyboard decently (an A). I will never pass it on pad. I guarantee it.

Read speed for me is anywhere between 250-350 and perhaps a little more. I can see the end of VerTex2 for instance, just fine, mostly because I play with C500/C512 on SM all the time anyways. VerTex, however, pushes me slightly. If I could cheat I would put it at C350. That would be kick ass. They have 250. They have 450. Not 350. WHY?

I've done some more and procured a 2GB flash drive (SanDisk Micro - U3 REMOVED THANK YOU) today soooo I'll have a better way of keeping track of my stuff instead of asking for the whole freaking machine profile. I tell you, that was a lot of info that I had to sort through to get those 20 pages or more of material typed out.

Okay, that's it for the 'rebuke'. I need to mention that I re-did Zodiac on Hard to about 82%. However, the EX has been done by someone and was done months ago. Said person doesn't come there anymore. He passed it with an 83.15%; I can't even pass it. The steps go apeshit halfway through.

Also, I tried another Survival (I never mentioned before that I did, but I did and failed horribly). Cohesion I got to the fourth stage and died. Survival is unforgiving. There is no way to do it easily unless you, literally, AAA or rather FCP each stage. I had 19 Greats and a Decent when I died.

I can tell you now that the system has a bit to be desired but it really isn't that bad. It feels like it was KH, basically, with the commands put in a certain 'leadership' mode. The overall story comes to a head halfway through and SPLITS into two parts. This, in turn, means that this has replay written all over it and it does deliver well in that regard.

The top thing I liked about it was the unlocks and the ability to get around 180 or so characters at your disposal, some from various Tri-Ace games. Yes. Yes. Lenneth too is an unlock...and she's wicked cool (at about 9000 HP when you get her). Props to her deathmove, Nibelung Valesti, in PS2 graphics.

Another big thing is the ability to replay much like Disgaea. It's a little limited in that sense, but any character that you've unlocked/made friends with you get when restart. Any techniques that you've learned, you keep. I'm not sure about items, however.

If it's 20 bucks right now, I'd get it. I paid about 30 or so for mine a few months ago and I sure as heck liked it. That's probably a reason I want to check out Valkyrie Profile 2 when it comes out.

EDIT: Out of continuing curiosity, I decided to sticky this thread. I figure this would be a good reference thread, namely because of the fact that people can look at reasons why someone would get a game and might incorporate it for themselves over a given amount of time.

I wonder why people hate doublestepping, though. Ultramix 3 has lots of songs that have doublestepping and I really don't mind them...

I figured I'd take your word on it and played the Hard of that one. It is a good song. OFM definitely is a hard but very kickass 9. I can do the handplants just fine; they're a lot easier than stuff like Bend Your Mind or Twilight on Medium.

As for doublesteps, they're not bad slow, but when they're going fast as hell then they're not really that fun. That would be jacking. An example of that, that I've created at least, would be Cool City on Oni. 12-footer from Hell.

Posted on 08-12-06 04:21 PM, in what sports are you involved with/play? Link
When I was a kid it was anything between Soccer, Baseball and Basketball. Unfortunately, I had to deal with asthma (still do) for a large majority of the time so I was repeatedly 'down' to play anything between age 4 and 14...so I didn't really do too well.

The only thing that qualifies that I still do would be DDR/ITG and that's really helped my stamina quite a bit. I could probably take on sports again but...hey...I'm 22 in about 2 days and I don't go to college, currently. :\
