Yea, there's no problem with this...in fact I encouraged it when this forum started.

Not entirely true... If anything, the same can be said from Guitar Hero against DDR anyways.

Being able to play any DDR/ITG-made sim on Stepmania does not kill the fact that there are custom songs that exist. StepMania more than does that as well. On legality, it's the same principle because it can used licensed music for that particular regard just as SM can.

It's a simulator/emulator. There's always going to be the grey area on what piracy really is in that regard so there's no 'it's kinda legal'. If you have to say that, it isn't anyways. Then again, we're a ROM hack board as it is. I don't think I have to go there with that extrapolation to get my drift. :\

Doesn't mean people won't stop trying to get a free fix for Guitar Hero, DDR, Beatmania, and whatever other rhythm game that's in existence.

EDIT: By the by, if you're really interested, it's here.

Whooaakay...calm it down guys. I think X got it after the third time (two here and one in the blog). No need to continually harp on him for a misread.

Well, I don't really know how to word that title, so I'll go into detail:

I need to get a few opinions about what a good starter RPG would be to give or have someone play to get into the genre a little bit more. Keep in mind these would be people that have not played them or they don't get the point of just aimlessly pressing a button many times over to kill hoards of enemies (which most are).

I also don't need to hear opinions of 'well he should play this cuz it's my favorite game'. Uh uh. I need something that would appeal to the GENERAL PUBLIC of those that don't play it...not you.

Something basic but good and long-lasting. The best I've got off the top of my head would be Chrono Trigger and that's really a guess, mostly for the curve and the fact that the game itself was really fun to play for someone who wasn't used to RPGs back a decade ago and I actually picked it up. This was one of those that did a good job of pushing the basics past me and thus hooking me into more RPGs nowadays. Top influencer? Maybe not...but I think it would appeal more than most FF titles anymore.

Anyways, I'm going on, but I'm wondering if there's a better idea than the one I just mentioned. Any ideas with some detail behind why?

Recall, as well, this is far more of a thoughtful forum than a lot of others. ROM Hacking, for instance, is as well but our primary concern with this board is more ROM hacks than anything else, so that's understandable.

This is new and isn't the top priority. But we still have people putting new stuff in every so often. This kind of stuff does take some time to post and generate decent feedback on.

Sides, this is doing a lot better than I expected it would. It's getting some intelligent posts and/or feedback with it as well.

Funny.

I haven't posted in here all month and I'm getting 7th place.

Freaking fantastic. Shows how much enthusiasm we have in certain people anymore. :\

Home on a sick day (second, really) because I feel like crap.

Got the main essentials for the machine done (Heavy and Oni) so I only need to put a little more effort to hopefully get it out by the 31st like I was trying to. The one competition is on the 10th.

Maybe, but at the same time it wouldn't be as realistic or down-to-earth in that sense without using them. It's more or less a commonplace for people to use swear words in real life, which this is the case here every so often.

There's a difference, as well. I'll take it up a notch, provided you won't get offended but let's say you were needing to take a punch line such as:

"I fucked your dog and shit in your purse..."

You could do the same as:

"I had sexual relations with your dog and defecated in your purse..."

Now, which one sounds more realistic? :\ In comedy, with stuff like this let's say, there's a difference between getting something like a respectable laugh and a belly laugh in that regard provided you know when to use the words.

Now, am I saying it's a necessary to use swear words? Of course not...but I believe it to be a good personality setter when it comes to defining a character and anything you can give in difference to another person makes them that more unique. You could have the same character spread who didn't use the swears; it wouldn't be the same.

Pays to be a bit more open in that regard, I think. Course then I have a co-worker that chides me every time I use the words 'god damn' in real life as it is anyways and we go rounds on philosophy as is. XD

Gee...wish I would've know about it. I wonder if they took my steps and just converted it or if they actually did their own. Max on that is 1500 combo.

Anyways:

It'd probably get more attention if the URL worked.
