It should be with the mentality that the next generation will be the ones that will eventually put you in the Home.

Either JD's being sarcastic, which I doubt, or I really can't see his layout.

Practically whenever I'm in front of an electronic box.

Otherwise, not very often anymore...although, I should be getting a nice month-long break coming up fast after finals/end of term. We'll see how it goes.

For some reason I believe the pee does not help an NES.

My wonder is what exactly did he pee on/in.

I laugh. I'm dead serious.

It's like laughing at a fart; it makes no sense to laugh at it but I do it anyways. I had to put up with that when I was downstate this past week if a friend of mine fell asleep on the couch while I was on the comp/PS2/DVD/whatever upstairs. I just find them amusing is all. :\

Either or.

Now if this was a question about talking to someone with or without intellect...well...you can guess what I'd pick. That and someone with a halfway decent sense of personality. You got those two and you alls good.

I would take a job if three things were met:

1) I had the time.
2) I had a way to get there (no, bus doesn't get this far out)
3) It wasn't Kohl's POS again...god, I'm never going to live that job down.

IT'S A TRAP PHIL IT'S A TRAP!

Anyways, discuss yet another game in the NIS lineup. All told it wasn't all great but it was a nice way for me to sink 105 hours beating it all. Moreso to get the better shiz in the game.

Posted on 12-01-05 09:03 PM, in Handheld Fighters Link
I'm on a game rant again...

See...now I've played my share of fighters like most gamers...but the concept of handheld fighters never really went down for me well back in the day. They always tended to suck.

Even now, I'm going through some of my old ROMs and I'm looking at a few things in some now to back up my point. Let's take the game I love to death, Killer Instinct, for example and view its port to the GB:

Couple shots for those that dunno what it looks like:

An uppercut from under...
It's a victory...but!...it's awesome.
99HITULTRAZOMG

Now, it's definitely got the basics down for what the original from the arcade down but...the system has been downgraded so much that it has its flaws. Putting a six-button game to two is not an easy thing to do, much less to time combos off of aimlessly...and that's not even getting started if you haven't been initiated into the combo system from the original. It was bad enough before, now it's just ridiculous...especially for the fact that I can do what appears to be a 99-hit ultra in PRACTICE MODE that was a thing you shouldn't be able to do.

Actually, it was me doing the same combo linked together over and over 13 times or so and it somehow counted. Go figure.

Anyways, this is a perfect example of how to kill a good game. Bad porting. Now, I continued to believe that most GB-type fighters sucked until I started browsing around further. Took me until last month or so to finally find something that actually kicked ass for a fighter.

Shots plz:

If he goes over, that's gonna hurt.
That too.
Translations are funny.

Now, besides the fact that I've heard Battle Arena Toshiden was absolute shit (these are rumours, of course, I haven't played it to verify), the GB variant was quite good. Still felt like it was porting a four button game to two, but it did it in a way that it worked out well. Very hit oriented, like KI, but it flowed a lot better than the incredible work you had to put in for GB KI as compared to this. Even button mashing fast will more than likely net you a 4 hit combo if you're lucky enough to time it before the opponent presses back to dodge.

Only thing I really had problems with was the incentive to knock your opponent over the edge to get a Ring Out. It's a nice addition and it can be changed or cancelled completely...but the default is 3 steps on the edge and you're out. You get open for a 3-hit combo or more on the side and you're gone. That makes for some pretty short battles. :\ Luckily, as I said, it can be cancelled and I as I said the rest of the game makes up for it.

I dunno, maybe I'm not looking hard enough...but I haven't found a decent handheld fighter past BAT. Samurai Shodown was close but it didn't flow as well as BAT did.

So yea, post or give me a sea of dumbfounded faces.

Okay, but...we really don't need any thread about this.

If you want to leave so bad, just do it...I don't like going through a million and one of these 'open for drama zomg I'm leaving' threads that go nowhere.

So, it's closed. Plain and simple.
