Originally posted by typolol Toupee! Honestly, that only goes skin deep into the game itself. I'll admit that Sonic Battle didn't really deliver too much in Story Mode (in fact I put it down for a year before I beat it) but the concept of being able to get every move from every character and then some deserves some sort of praise. And I still say the music wins even considering the engine. |

Sounds like it's going to be 'The Pen is Mightier'. Still lacking a forum description, though. So far, we've got Bloodstar on it as a mod (mostly because he didn't have a forum to begin with and he just so happened to have expertise in the field).
|
Shouldn't be too much longer before there's an open forum on it. EDIT: And we have a forum. Thanks for the input, everyone and hope you enjoy the new forum. ![]() (edited by Hiryuu on 01-04-07 01:05 AM)

It's not half bad. Actually, it's pretty damned good. AA'd Oni no trouble but that'd be a hard ass on pad with the DP rating that comes with.
|
CPU's file wasn't half bad either. Didn't really slow me down too bad as long as I had it in Edit Mode.
Oh, and I've got one out too:
Now if that doesn't blow those last two sims by you two out of the water, I dunno what will.

Honestly, I couldn't really find the time to look at this. I know I could do it if I took the time and the effort, but originality would kill me in that resolve within the deadlines that are necessary to complete this. Given the jobs I have and the low amount of free time I have, that kinda hurts me in any chance of writing. :\
|
Least I still have my solo write. That one's about to clear 70,000 words and I'm aiming for about 250,000 when it's all said and done...which it's already taken 2 years of work off and on. That said, I'd rather write at my leisure. Not under time constaints. (edited by Hiryuu on 01-04-07 01:12 AM)

I'm pretty sure a few people know that Anya, Colin, Sofie (who know her) and I were involved in the Story Forum/Sim-Battle quite often back in the day. Near the end of 2004 it started to get to the point where we weren't posting as much and the board initially crashed right around that time, taking the fuel along with it. Right around late '04, it died altogether for us and officially put all of us into 'retired SF status'. There were a few stories that we did but it seemed like there wouldn't be a conclusion to the 'present' version that we were working on and eventually would fade away to nothing.
|
Or would it? Around November 2004, on a whim, I tried writing a small side-story for the SF that we were currently working on in a solo project. This had to do with the fact that I couldn't get anyone to post as it was and it didn't feel like we were going anywhere and dammit I wanted to write! Over time, it developed into an unstoppable force. I'm now working on a 14th chapter to this project. Those who at least remember it might get a kick out of what I've got. To warn, though, it's still a very rough project. The drafts that I'm linking to are only first tries...and likely have a bunch of grammar/spelling errors in it. I haven't gone back and proofread anything (that's saved, at least) or rewrote anything that hasn't already required me to do so (10-12 being deleted). This will likely lose those not already familiar, but I tried to pull into it as best as I could without you needing to have a massive background with the characters. It also didn't help that I was lacking a LARGE amount of background material on each character so I've slowly had to develop each one over time. I'm still not completely satisfied with it and I'm continuing to broaden it out as the story goes. I've also made a few side-things that go with it, which I'll display here as well. There's a BIO and DEFINITION page. Both are incomplete or are not completely shown to the public (for spoiler reasons). I have the majority of this mapped out and I expect this to grace about 40 chapters with around 250,000-300,000 words when completed. I'd like to get a good lead into it by the end of 2007, but I can't be entirely sure as to how long this will take. This thing keeps evolving almost daily. Anyways, I'll kill the exposition. You guys just tell me what you think: Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 - Coming up. Additional content: BIO page DEFINITION page Volume 1 (Chapter 1-9 compiled) OMAKE 1 OMAKE 2 OMAKE 3 - Coming up. Like I said, it's an on-going free-time project. Some of you already know that this exists, but I figured I may as well show it to people, especially that we now have a dedicated forum to something like this. Perhaps it will speed it along, perhaps not. (edited by Hiryuu on 01-04-07 02:27 PM) (edited by Hiryuu on 01-04-07 03:24 PM)

That's hilarious. All the exposition just to have broken links.

Almost how I felt growing up in a grad class of 20 people. At least they had a bit more hope than the one shown here.
|
Though, I probably would've written similar back in the day. Good god, I'm glad I'm out of school now.

By Becky, you aren't meaning ol' Bill are you? God her takes on 'Sailor Sun' were great. A shame she hasn't updated her work in quite some time (at least two years).
|
And that's a good start for a fic, but I think you'd be better off expanding on what you have written. It feels very rough, but that could definitely be used as an idea if it were ever put to a fanfic for Ranma ½. You're just missing a whole bunch of How? and Why? in your shortfic. Then again, most shortfics are lucky to have either of the two questions asked. Most of them assume that you know the series, either, like the back of your hand. It'd help if you put some more details into it, for sure. I like the concept, though, if it was ever brought out. God knows that Ranma already has a dozen fiancees as is.

Hey.
|
Just making a general sticky thread to conglomerate some of the stuff in here instead of just having seperate little threads on each person. Thought it might be a good idea to do so to talk about outside ideas and maybe make hints to other threads or maybe even say that 'I'm working on such and such' project. ...or maybe just say stuff about writing in general, whatever the case. By the by, I am liking the whole [genre here] thing before the threads. That might be a good thing to continue in terms of format when posting a story. It's a good way to sift through the growing numbers of threads, if nothing else. Also, there is some TALENT displayed here. You guys should post your thoughts as well as you can. I think that might be one of the harder aspections of this forum: overcoming objections to actually posting some decent feedback/critique. Any and all opinions are probably appreciated to anyone here. Just have fun with it, that's all that matters! Hay, sticky! (edited by Hiryuu on 01-05-07 01:32 AM)

That was more or less a roller coaster to 'bad end'. It was a nice short story ride, though, and could have definitely been expanded on. There were a few areas that I read where you had really good detail, especially when describing people but when it came to actual emotion you had some difficulty really writing it out; the ideas felt compressed.
|
Perhaps it had something to do with the overall tone of the story, which was really dismal and dark in the whole span of it. Actually, it just screams irony. But I think there were certain areas that could have been expanded on farther than they were as though this could have been a long story instead of just a twenty minute read through. Sides, that would have been one heck of a doozy end if that would have been the end of a long story that followed the trend up like you had written it, using that as an outline. That would have left plenty with a 'what the hell?!' at the end. Though, I'm generally not used to 'bad endings' either.

Okay, that's a double bump...and they guy's probably done better than he did two months ago. Learn to look at posts a little better next time instead of suffering from PC++.

So in checking the net, there is a ITG2 BETA out for the PS2. There is also talk about ITG3 coming up here soon and KaW's site has nothing more than cryptic stuff on it with -supposed- posts in it by ZigZag and Naoki.
|
All I can say is 'wtf?'. I also have Disconnected Zeo on my comp. I'm not really amazed with the EX. It's even easier than Mobius. The only thing it really has with it are spins and hands and that's about it. The mine count is pathetic in comparison to the others. I heard, however, that Esperanza is the one to look out for in terms of ITG3 9s. (edited by Hiryuu on 01-05-07 04:00 PM) (edited by Hiryuu on 01-05-07 04:30 PM)

If you're talking about something like mine...I'm pretty sure I said that in my description (about 70,000).
|
Though it'd be pretty nice to get an estimate on something like that but it's more or less an option right now, not a requisite.
