I've seen the ill effects it has on their health and the smell (Of both pot and cigarettes), and I really have no desire to ever smoke it. |

| Speaking of SMB3, I remember something very strange happened to me when I was playing it when I was young, on the NES.
In World 1-3, when you see the Second Boomerang Brother, there was a Green Paletted Note Block that was sitting on top of the 4 Wooden Blocks at the end there. I never got to interact with it though, as my friend playing the game at the time got killed by the Boomerang Bro. I never did see it again, I have to say. And Ice Land fails. It really does. ;
The earlier worlds were certainly much better. The last tolerable one was Sky Land, after that it went way downhill, like they used up all of their good ideas or something. |

| I watched Innocence a while ago, and after I watched it I was more confused when I started.
It was decent, in a mind-screwing sort of way. I need to get around to watching Standalone Complex, I've got like 4 episodes sitting on my HD. |

| Yeah, Hiya all. This is a hack I made up for a few bored people on my website, and I thought that I'd release it here as well. Who knows, someone might like it.
Features: Balance Hack Version 1.8 - A personal project of mine, with tons of community input. Balances all of the COs in Advance Wars 2 (Pretty well anyhow). Now Flak is as viable as Nell, and Sonja's not changing hugely in power in and out of Fog, while Sturm is fair to use against your friends. Details of the CO changes are here. CO Changes - A lot of the old War Room maps have had a bit of a change around with New COs taking up the battallions. Have a bit of fun with a bit of a change. New Map Challenges - Maps from Vs, 3p, 4p, Classic and Campaign have been utilised for something new to do, some easy, some difficult. New Difficulty - War Rooms with predeployed menaces or that are just plain unfair, or Multiple CO Maps where you need to pick your AI Ally carefully. Some tough challenges to keep you busy. Screenshots:
A preview of the Map List
Selecting multiple COs in the War Room
Eagle's Changed Lightning Drive
One of the Early maps, Crater Isle versus Lash
A late map, Black Marina (Mission: Orange Dawn Hard Campaign) versus Grit. The IPS Patch Need Advance Wars 2 US (A Clean Rom). If it has an Intro, apply this Intro Remover Patch first. Known Issues: There's a bit of Garbage in the menu on maps where you can select a CO Ally Flak, Lash, Adder, Hawke and Sturm don't have Black Hole Colours when selected - This is to prevent problems with Black Inventions on a few maps. The AI in Thorn Islands doesn't build Air/Sea units. ![]() (edited by Xenesis on 04-16-06 01:39 AM) |

| Hmm, so any comments? I'm wondering if I made it too hard or too easy, and honestly I haven't had very many of those comments yet. | |||

| Hmm, the only Mario enemies I've found truly threatening are as follows:
Paper Mario TTYD: Elite Wizzerds: These guys are bastards. It's extremely difficult to Superguard their attacks and they pierce your defence, meaning that if you screw up, it HURTS. Fuzzies: Not threatening, really, just really, really annoying. Mario and Luigi PiT: Those Coloured Block things. WHY DO THEY KEEP SUMMONING THEMSELVES? 2D Mario Platformers: Flying Cheep Cheeps: Yeah, like the ones from Awesome in SMW. They irk me and they deserve to die. With Fireballs. And Star power. SMB3: Hot Foot - I'm a piece of the background! No, wait, I've hurt you. ;
SMB2: Pansers in some spots are evil. Evil I say! SMW: Megamoles are my mortal enemy.
Okay, I'm done. |

| I know SNESTool does it, but then, I'm sure there are better utilities to do it as well. Of course, you could just manually add the 0x200 Bytes manually to the start of the ROM yourself (SNES games don't need anything in the header, do they?) | |||

| Map editing is being stunted because no one understands that bastard of a map format. Even with some help from Squash monster, passing me on the Fire Emblem map format, I can't figure the bugger out yet.
Trust me, it will be a major victory when we do. But most aspects of AW2 are now hackable, we're starting to understand the black art that is Mass Damage S/COPs as well. Just some random things like the Refuelling of Jess, etc. that we can't get as of yet. The next stage is for me to learn GBA ASM and actually get the ability to debug things. ![]() |

I'm not too surprised that it's compressed though, despite the fact that they needed about double the versus maps they had, in that nice 2mb chunk of empty space in the ROM. ;
But yeah, I'm working on finding all the values for tiles at least. The game has like 100 different sea and river tiles. ![]() |

| Hehe.
Good ol HexEdit. Certainly a wonderful Hex Editor. I basically use it for everything I do, as I'm not much of a graphicy person. And of course, Boycott Advance 0.2.6 (It's an old version, but it runs about 3x as fast on my old laptop). Mac Hacking yay. |

| Now, I'm working on a hack, but I've got one simple question...
I'd like to disable Shift mode, and forcing Set mode the entire game. I'm using Fire Red as a base (But admittedly, I'm not far enough along yet, so Sapphire or whatever would be fine as an alternative). So, how simple would it be to disable Shift mode, so the game isn't horrendously easy? |

Hmm. So I guess the answer is 'Not really that simple at all'
I don't know any ARM or Debugging myself, so that's kind of out of my reach at the moment. Oh well, yet another incentive to learn it for myself. Thanks for the reply though, that basically does tell me what I need to do when I get the skill to do so. ![]() |

| Hmm, looks quite nice nice, except the palette in those outdoor mountains, where it just looks, er...weird.
And in the second to last shot with all the flowers, that just doesn't quite look right either. Nextly, That Flash animation thing is irritating. ;
Finally, to attach a file, use the quick-attach box when you're making a post. You can put a file of up to 125kb on there. |
