Considering it's only designed to work for Super Mario World, I would say not.

Indeed. This looks interesting.

Will we be able to play with a small demo room, just to fiddle around with your new physics?

And don't make it too hard!

2.5 times bigger? Holey moley man, you like your fire and brimstone!

Will the other areas be a similar size, or are they smaller or something?

I personally like either Subs or Raw Japanese. Mainly because as a budding Japanese student, any opportunity to listen to the language is always welcome. However, a lot of stuff is far too complicated for me to watch in raw Japanese. One day, one day.

Blah. SMB3 I find is horrendously overrated. In fact, I'd put it as more overrated than Final Fantasy 7 and Halo combined.

I mean, it's not particularly bad, but it's not the stroke of brilliance people seem to think it is. The only two things it has going for it are the Hammer Bros Suit and World 5. World 5 was awesome.

I personally voted SMB1. While techincally an inferior game, with it's limited engine and simple powerup system, it had some fun, yet difficult levels and unlike SMB3's bosses, Bowser didn't suck in SMB1.

SMB3's Boss battles were lame.

Yeah, a lot of hacks have some really, really awful levels...you appreciate the originals a LOT more after playing some. And like I said, while SMB1 is the technically inferior game, I've had a lot more fun with it than I have with SMB3...

I guess I just don't understand the absolute fascination people have with it. My feeling is that with SMB3, Nintendo tried to cram too much new stuff into one game, and as such a lot of it isn't used as well as it could have been.

Augh. How can a game have "too much stuff" or "be good, but not the right kind of good"? Seriously, though. I'm not just talking technical, I'm just talking in nearly all gameplay aspects SMB3 is superior.

It's called featuritis. Too many features, but none of them are done as well as they could have been. You honestly can't tell me that the Frog Suit was well done, for instance. You got like 10 of the things, and it's useful for 3 levels of the game, but made the other 30 or so harder. There was almost nothing that you could do with say the Frog Suit, that Fireballs weren't better for. The Tanooki Suit's Statue ability was almost completely worthless, and not worth hunting for the thing's ridiculous rarity, especially compared to the Leaf. And the hammer suit? While cool, did anyone EVER use the fireball protection?

My point is, they crammed a whole lot of potentially cool features into it that they could have used, but they never did, or they barely used at all. Hell, the Grab and Throw blocks were awesome, but you never got more than one chance in the game to use them properly. Or the Kuribo's Shoe. You see it once in the entire damn game.

What I'm trying to say is that, at least SMB1 used all it's features to a reasonable extent. I swear SMB3 was the result of Ninty trying to cram as many features in there as possible, and they're really, on the whole quite wasted. I can think of three creative level design areas in the entire game, the one in World 6 where you have to Fly the Grab Blocks up, and the whole drop behind the scenery thing in World 1. And that pipe-maze level in world 7, and only because of the directional elevator things.

Maybe I'm just jaded, I don't know, but I still feel that SMB3 has a wholly undeserved god status. It's a half decent game, no doubt. Then again, I think Mario World is better than the both of them.

SMB3 may have had rather lame boss battles, but at least they weren't all Bowser. You guys don't have a leg to stand on.

At least SMB1 didn't pretend that it was a different boss by changing the sprite.

SMB1 was more linear, had less powerups, less enemies, levels that were repeated, and bad graphics. Not NES so much as just ugly, take a look at Bowser or Peach.

Graphics wise, it was one of the first NES games. ALL of the really early NES games were ugly as sin. Metroid, Balloon Fight, Mario, Duck Hunt. SMB3 came out at the end of the console. Of course it's gonna look better. And of course, everyone knows that more of everything is better ; Sometimes simplicity is nice too you know.

The levels in SMB3 weren't bad at all. And they sure as hell weren't repeated. You had all kinds of things that blew SMB1 out of the water with more levels, good levels. Speaking of which, SMB3 had ACTUAL WATER. Puzzles. Items. The entire enemy lineup of SMB1, tripled.

Areas where fireballs came down from the sky. Areas where you had to jump on para-beetles. Areas that moved around if you didn't have a music box. Spinning platforms. Waterfalls. That angry sun. Wrap-around levels. Much more music. Whatever SMB3 had, they used just fine.

And even more secrets than SMB1, with a more interesting warp zone and hidden hammer-block areas.

Well, there were certainly some fun levels. I can't deny that. But a lot of the levels struck me as pretty boring or were just plain irritating (Read, everything world 7 and after, plus all the Airships). I liked a lot of World 5 though, mainly because the levels were actually pretty varied. A lot of the other world's levels were samey anyhow. While, it's true that there were no repeated levels, there are so few standout levels that it doesn't actually matter that much.

And hidden Hammer block..areas? ; The only significant one was world 2. And the only difference between the two warp zones is that one is pipes. The other is a map with pipes.

And hell, even its plot was kind of interesting. Bowser didn't kidnap the princess until you beat level 7, and this was back before Bowser kidnapping the princess was run-of-the-mill.

Claiming SMB3 has a plot is an insult to the word plot. But then, both games fail here. And by fail, I mean they both get an E- and are kicked out of English Studies for 3 years.

SMB3 kicked so much ass that if my NES emulator wasn't so shitty and my real NES systems broken down, I'd go play it right now. No, I will play it right now. Even though FCEU always screws up my desktop. I might even start hacking it again.

Have a wonderful, wonderful time.

Simple. If one has a flashcard (Which are really common for the GBA), one can play NES games on an actual GBA.

And I have to admit, it's fun playing Super Mario Bros. on the bus.

I watched it a few months ago, and it was pretty good. The Baseball episode was the best episode in the entire series, methinks.

Okeydokey, I've given this a play, and here's my comments and notes about what to improve:

Mario Circuit 1: Not bad, but you sometimes get shoved funny directions on the final jump part of the track.

Donut Plains 1: There's an Item Box that shouldn't be there in time trial. Good track though.

Ghost Valley 1: The cheep cheeps are screwed up. Also, there's three item boxes that shouldn't be there in Time Trial. It's identical to the new Mario Circuit 3.

Bowser's Castle 1: If Lakitu drops you onto the sole jump bar, you plunge straight into the lava again.

Mario Circuit 2: Coins and Item Boxes appearing in time trial. No other problems.

Choco Island 1: No problems, the course looks a little unnatural though. Try smoothing out the course edges.

Ghost Valley 2: The invisible Bridge is weirdarse. O.o Cool, but weirdarse.

Donut Plains 2: There's no visible start line.

Bowser's Castle 2: There's a split arrow on the ground partway through, but there's only one way to go. The course is cool (But a little tight) in places otherwise.

Mario Circuit 3: See Ghost Valley 1.

Donut Plains 3: The map's a little off, missing walls and the like, but the course seems to play well. It looks very cool too.

Ghost Valley 3: You sometimes get wrong way signals when going straight on the very last section of the track with the zipper pads.

Vanilla Lake 2: Well, it looks absolutely horrible colour wise. >.<. Also, the lap counter advanced once even though I was only at the middle of the track. It was very, very strange.

Rainbow Road: The track looks ugly. Also, if you fall off on the multi-jump shortcut Lakitu will drop you onto open space, and you'll get picked up and dropped 4-5 times.

Overall Comments: It's cool, but there's quite a few bugs to squish at this stage. Also, I reckon you've overused the Bowser's Castle and Mario Circuit tilesets. Use some more of the Vanilla Lake, Donut Plains and Choco Island Tilesets. Good luck!

This is certainly one thing I've been waiting for since you alluded to it's existence. Hehe..those WWNers won't know what hit them when me and a few of the locals release some CCOs with new music.

I'm eagerly awaiting trying it out!
