the routine is at $03DFCC (SNES). Use BMF's levelasm and write 5C CC DF 03 (jumps to the routine) at the adress for the level you want to add the lightning. Note that palette 0, will be overwritten by Bowsers palette!

change it with sprite paint, sometimes MWR causes other sprites to glitch after changing the graphic bytes.

hmm i think smwr2 has better asm hacks and GFX than part 1.
the leveldesign is also good.
