Heh, sorry I haven't been around to keep things up to date, yea... in my own defense, I laid out the terms of the thread very clearly: If no one was telling me about broken links or stuff I should add, I probably wasn't going to fix them on my own. And no one really did, so I washed my hands of the state the thread was in. Though I admit that I largely stopped checking eventually.

Was my thread really lost, though? That's pretty annoying. If so, then it's best someone else remade it anyways.. I haven't been keeping up well enough in the past 3 months to be qualified to remake things from scratch.

Libertarian realist. I forget my political compass score, but it'd put me somewhere around there. *shrug*

Funny enough, the same hack is also listened on the "Hacks in progress list", which is wrong of course. The same thing counts for my "Chaos CompleXX"-hack, which is also completed.

They already made a "Super Mario Sisters" game. It was called "Great Giana Sisters".

Had a sweet soundtrack, what.

Structural unemployment?

This isn't structural unemployment. The U.S. is and will continue to shift out of manufacturing as its main economic focus. So it sucks for them, but these frictions are the price of progress.

There doesn't need to be a "big backlash" in order for this guy to get killed. Certain Islamists have already demonstrated their willingness and ability to murder those who criticize their religion, as the reference to Theo van Gogh implies.

And I think the appropriate qualifications will be made about "not all Muslims hate gay people"... it'll simply focus on the widespread institutionalized brutalization of homosexuals in certain Islamic countries.

Navi had me convinced that I could "reduce damage by holding forward on the control stick and rolling on impact." It was actually surprisingly easy, I think we humans have some sort of instinctive ability to pull off these monkey-like feats of agility and grace. Just like we mangae to lift cars off the ground to save our children in dire circumstances, if you fling yourself off a building, instinct and adrenaline kicks in to save you.

Of course, a limber body and practice helps as well, but cool people don't try, they do.

Dude thats wrong, its was started in france and is known as free runnning or le parkour. Its ace, i show know coz i do it, I do it with a crew, i'm currently sponsered

Yep.. I saw this and was looking for the term, and that's it. "Le parkour" (or parcour?). There's a crew in my city, there was recently a feature on them, yea..

I have no idea what are you talking about but I never even heard of it. I hope you not trying to psych Sgraff87 out. I respected Sgraff87.

Well, I killed Ridley and got the Plasma beam, now I have to find a bunch of Chozo statues.. which kinda sucks, tbh, because they seem to be pretty well-hidden. I might either try to find a map or just give up. But I'll add my comments:

1. For the most part, I loved the physics changes and design. A lot of new tricks were used, which was cool, although I wish they were explained in the FAQ. ie. In the acid room before the wall jump in Crateria (I think), I didn't know you could jump and turn into a ball while you're still going up. I could think of other tricks that were used that I figured out but maybe others couldn't - diagonal bomb jumping, bomb jumping to help your spring ball jump out a little, etc.

2. As the game went on, it became more and more frustrating to navigate the world. There were plenty of shortcuts between areas, but you still had to remember where those shortcuts were in a very complicated map which doesn't help too much at all (I wish it showed doors more clearly..) Having some kind of central highway through Norfair in particular would have been nice.

3. Why no Wrecked Ship zone? Maybe you incorporated it into Tourian, Idunno, but.. I miss the Wrecked Ship.

4. It seems like enemy HP/damage should've been balanced better. A lot of the time the enemies were far too hard/easy compared to what they were in the previous zone - ie. when you do the area with the white crabs on the way to the gravity suit, they do almost no damage.. because originally they were in a zone you passed through before you had your first energy tank. It seems like it would have been a simple matter of editing some offsets..

5. I'm somewhat sad that it was just a redesign.. no new music/graphics, elements which could have been incorporated pretty easily. Hell, even palette swaps would have been nice. This really made me feel like SM:R is begging to be surpassed by a more "complete" hack.

6. Wtf does the beam combo do?

7. I didn't find the Wave beam until I had the Screw Attack, and I just got it because I got lucky. I don't have the Spazer either. I guess both these weapons are optional, and thus they seem more hidden than other items, but... it'd be nice if they weren't. Going through Maridia doing crap damage to enemies wasn't particularily fun.

Overall it seems great, though, I'm amazed at how professional it seems and also its sheer scope. Quite an accomplishment.

Fair enough, my point was more that their being optional means that you can effectively go through the game being unable to kill anything until you get the screw attack. I pretty much jumped past every enemy from Norfair through Crateria through Maridia and back to Norfair again because I skipped the wave beam.

You don't like critisism? Don't ask for it. Critisism is composed of opinion and expressing it, and as we all know, opinion can be negative or positive.

There is no rule you cannot state negative critisism on this forum, and you did not state in your first post that you only wanted positive critisism.

And you know what? He is right.
All you did was made a few levels with Icegoom's ExGFX tile set.
Get something original and show it off.
This crap reminds me of what happened after Peter_ac gave out his own ExGFX.
People threw it in their hacks, and called it "Original", or "Best Hack Around", and noone respected it.
Nice job Genious. You'd think man wouldn't retrace its mistakes.

I am also sick of the idiot types like you that believe they have total control over everything and can make up rules as they go. It is people like you that have ruined the community around the "Scene"(Rom-Hacking for the bewildered), and it is shit like you that should be picked up and thrown in a bag.

Why don't we ignore him?
Why don't we just ignore you?
You have no fucking right to call someone a noob, newb, n00b, newbie, (insert more newbie-1337speak ridden words), until you yourself are not one.

I have been around these parts for 3 years now, and trash like you never gets away with shit like you pulled.

Fix what you said, and if you do not want Negative critisism, state it clearly in the beginning post.

Take this as a fair warning.
Not a mod-like warning, but a respect-like one.

Constructive criticism is accepted. "ZOMG YOUR HACK SUX OMG OMG" is not. Guitario's response was pretty asinine, derisively dismissing his work because he hadn't made his own graphics. But guess what, the only people who really give a damn are a handful of elitists who can't handle the thought of someone getting more recognition with less work. Boo hoo.

Like it or not, but graphics sets like these are not done to death and are effective for creating an original feeling. Any graphic set save for SMAS is, really. Just because you've seen it before doesn't mean it's worthless. Not everyone is willing/able to edit their own graphics, and many people who do just plain suck at it. I'd rather have a beautiful hack with already-seen graphics than a hack with shitty, out-of-place graphics. I'd encourage iChu to not water down his hack's aesthetic feel if he can't make tiles up to the standard which he's been using.

Ironic that iChu is accused of being the type that ruins the community, I see that more in people who can't write a complete sentence or who flip out over nothing.
