| Hi, my name is Jason and I have been a member at Acmlm's board since early 2004 but I have been inactive on the board for a little over a year and I have just re-registered my login name. I have been a staff member at the BS Zelda Homepage since early 2004. My focus for the past 2 plus years has been to restore BS The Legend of Zelda: Kodai no Sekiban to its original status. This game was released for the Satellaview, a Japanese-only attachment for the Super Famicom. The original rom dump had many problems but over the past 2 years through the hard work of the members of the website and a member from this forum, Euclid, we have restored the indoors (dungeons, caves, etc.), the overworld map, the sound, and have created an English translation patch. There are still other things that need to be fixed, so I was hoping to join the forum to inform everyone of the progress we have made and to receive any suggestions or help that might be offered.
If I do not get approved for the forums, please let me know what I can do to improve my chances of being approved in the future. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I know it’s a little long winded. ![]() |

| I am a staff member at the BS Zelda HomePage and I am presently looking for a rom hacker who may help make patches for BS The Legend of Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets (aka BS Zelda 3, or Kodai no Sekiban). This is an official Zelda game developed by Nintendo for the Satellaview add-on for the Super Famicom in 1997. Unfortunately back then, no one outside of Japan ever had a chance to play this game as it was never distributed on cartridges and, even there, could only be played for a short time while broadcasted.
Some of you may remember previous postings of mine asking for help to restore the game. I am thrilled to report that in the past 2 years much progress has been made to restore the game. A now retired patcher Dreamer Nom managed to make most of the indoor objects visible. Then David, Euclid (a member at this board) and Duke Serkol made an English patch for the game. This September Euclid and Duke Serkol made a patch that restored all of the indoors. Thanks to the Zelda no Video documentary DVD we have footage of the game with its music and we have discovered that the game downloaded from the Satellite music from the soundtrack, Zelda Sound & Drama. The different tracks were played at determined times and were not influenced by the players' location. We are able to tell to a degree what tracks were played at what times, and hope to stream Mp3 music into the game (something d4s managed to do with Breath of Fire 2). I purchased the Zelda Sound & Drama soundtrack from ebay for $200 this spring, so I could convert the tracks into Mp3’s at any quality that is needed. Our second big goal is to insert an English title screen (the game presently has none), we already have a “mock-up” title that is based on the original Japanese title screen, and lastly, we’d like to recreate the brief introduction seen in the video (Sahasrahla and Zelda walking up to the passed out protagonist). Our next objectives are therefore: 1) stream mp3 tracks into the game 2) insert a title screen and intro sequence A Link to the Past was arguably the best 2D Zelda game ever made and Ancient Stone Tablets is a follow-up with a new story, rearranged dungeons, evolving outdoors and new puzzles, so it is sure to be a classic. Unfortunately, even though much has been done, we won’t get to enjoy it in all of its glory unless we find skilled rom hackers to help us restore the game further. I would provide a direct link to our website, but I don’t want to break any of the board’s rules since it does contain roms. Please respond on this thread, email me at cent208@hotmail.com or send me a private message if you would be willing to help. I am more than willing to answer any questions you might have. Thanks for taking the time to read this long winded message. Your fellow video game fan, cent208 |

Originally posted by MathOnNapkins That's okay, it doesn't have to be mp3 format as long as the music quality is fair and more importantly if we can play the songs from the soundtracks Originally posted by MathOnNapkins Probably not. We don't really wish to faithfully recreate the original code used by the Satellaview, just the end result, which should be something akin to what d4s did with BoF2 (except keeping sound effects). Originally posted by MathOnNapkins That would be nice if we could play the game on a copier. However we realize that the SNES most likely does not have the "horsepower" to play CD quality music without receiving it from a Satellite connection or something, so even if we could play the game with the CD soundtrack only on an emulator, that would still make us happy. Originally posted by MathOnNapkins That's what we normally do, yes. Naturally, that would make it unpratical to say the least to keep your progress when playing with a copier. Fortunately the games allows players starting anew from later weeks to catch up rather quickly and easily, so it's not an issue. |

Originally posted by Heran Bago thanks for the info on the mp3 tool. do you have a link or more information on where i could get it? also, can it be used with a snes emulator? no unfortuantely we are not currently hosting the mp3's because we our website is hosted by a larger website (for free) and the webmaster of the site is unhappy with us adding large files. we are presently looking into putting the mp3's up on a free file hosting site like fileforge. of course if anyone is willing to help with the music I would could email them the mp3 files.
