Err... Aside from the fact that ice is LESS dense than water, that theory seems to have a slight flaw. Is all of the ice that would be melting already in the ocean? No, no it's not. If you've forgotten, Antarctica definitely has GROUND beneath it. Furthermore, the fact that ice floats on water means that even if there was no ground beneath Antarctica (meaning, if it was like the Arctic minus Russia/Canada/etc.), the ice is STILL not already in the oceans, as half of it (plus or minus) is floating on top.

I could swear the ozone layer hole was supposedly caused by CFCs, but that's only tangentially related to that.

Why are so many people trying to embrace the false dichotomy between "how things are now" and "no meat at all"? It's possible to eat meat without forcing what you got it from to suffer, you know. If nothing else, most livestock can clearly feel pain; there is doubt anyone can feel death.

How many responses did this thread REALLY merit from a single person?

I personally tend to avoid situations in which the name would be spoken, but "Ace" sounds good to me.

Did you know, that in Japan, they sell underage nude sex dolls? I mean, god DAMN. It's things like that that almost make me wish we'd nuked them off the map in World War II.
Would you prefer they be actually sleeping with the real underage people? Honestly, it's better to get the perversions out in a way that DOESN'T harm others, rather than ones that can.

It's still twisted, of course, but I think I'd prefer a culture of people who use loli-RealDolls than one that regularly practices pedophilia.

(Not to say, of course, that all people in Japan are pedophiles. There are just a lot of weird fetishes et. al. that are commonly accepted and catered to there.)

Xk explained that elsewhere. It's based on that whole "bytes wasted" thing, where your score is the total size of your posts, or something? It's definitely interesting, to say the least. (Prior to this post, I had 700. That was one post.)

There went any moral high ground complaining about procrastinators, huh? Quick question, though... is there ever a time that you (or anyone in their right mind) would WANT to be near the crowds at the mall/stores/etc?

I suppose you could be trying to find everything the night before, but that'd be a bit odd, so it's probably good you aren't.

You mean this one? Check the forum on it, definitely not Pit of Despair, although more because this way it could serve as an example to others.

And, if nothing else, this was at least a bit more amusing than that one.

Or they'll just, you know, keep making a whole lot of really small contentless posts until it overwhelms everything else the same way as before, anyway. Just look at how high Lakithunder ranked yesterday on this system.

I'd put my bets on quote abuse more than anything, as then it has the illusion of relevance as well as the added benefit of large character-counts.

See, the benefit to having the characterization/dialog being the primary source of originality is that neither were particularly existent in the actual game. Just look at the nameless heroes, who aside from being completely interchangeable, have no distinctive traits other than in battle.

EDIT: Heh, forgot the useful part of my post. I used to read it all the time, but then I just kinda stopped, no particular reason. At this point, it'd take me ages to catch back up.

Dumb question I know, but... what would happen if Xkeeper/Dagsha/Alexa wound up holding multiple spots in the top 3?

How are alt accounts considered, anyway? Is it counted like Xk has 50 + 23 + 18 = 91 points, or are they all going to continue to be listed separately?

Especially considering the ® symbol is a non-standard key on a keyboard. Hell, out of everyone in the world, I honestly believe that only people who have to deal with the program in a legal contest seriously use it the so-called "proper" way. In fact, I think that their insisting that we type it the proper way is just an advertising scheme or something. At any rate, it's stupid, ridiculous, and an idle threat. Hell, it's probably laughable in the courtroom.

I think they're only doing that to prevent it entering the language as a normal word, like xerox. They won't actually sue anyone, much less for nontrivial damages.

I can answer this one, at least. 4 new Espers (Gilgamesh, Giant Cactuar, Diablos, and Leviathan), a bunch of new weapons, a few new spells, and a new dungeon.

Complete with a new CzarDragon. Or Kaiser Dragon, at least in the Japanese version.
