Yay, it works! Thanks! (Sorry for the delay, I had some more important things to do.)
Hm, while I'm here, is there anything I can do about this? ptr1 = (DWORD64)DebugFunctionPtr[j];
This causes "cast from pointer to integer of different size" warnings when I compile. This makes perfect sense, since the elements of DebugFunctionPtr[] are 32 bits and ptr1 is 64. It works fine, though, so is there some way to make it not generate those errors, or a better way to do this? What I need to do is compare the elements of DebugFunctionPtr[] to a 64-bit pointer returned by StackWalk64(). I want to avoid making the array elements 64-bit, since they only need to be 32; that'd be 4 bytes wasted per element (and there's quite a few). |

You're trying to do binary file I/O? VL-Tone had the same problem; IIRC he found an Xtra that could do it.

Hm, not sure how to do that with MinGW. I tried putting -Wx in the call to gcc, but no matter what number I used it generated a huge load of warnings about seemingly trivial things such as comparing signed and unsigned variables.
Also, whenever any control has focus on my dialog and I press Escape, it activates the first button. It doesn't do this if the child window has focus. |

Nah, what's fun is when you put a MessageBox statement in the wrong place and it loops endlessly, forcing you to close VB and lose your code yourself.

Whew! Nero, which came with the burner, managed to burn a DVD-RW just fine even though Windows reported it as a zero-byte CDR. So at least the drive works. If this goes away after reinstalling Windows, I'll close the thread. (edited by HyperMackerel on 04-18-06 02:21 AM) |

That OpenFile() function reads the entire file into memory. It's good for some things, but in many cases just seek/get/put is better. For example, if you're making a level editor, having the entire file in memory means having a very large array (the size of the ROM) when most of it is data you're not going to be doing anything with. Also, if you write it all back to the file at once, it makes it impossible to have two different programs editing the same file at the same time. Plus, it's slower. Originally posted by DanOriginally posted by HyperMackerel I used that, but it always tended to be a case of deciding not to bother saving because it was just a quick little thing, then later realizing I'd put quite a bit of work into it and should have saved it. Of course by just using C instead I avoid that, because the editor, compiler and final output are all separate programs. |
