The editor being difficult to use may help prevent crappy hacks, but it also prevents a lot of good ones. I'm sure there's plenty of people who have really nice ideas, but are turned off by the complexity involved. Between not being able to tell what object you're placing, bugs that screw everything up, and documentation that's just plain wrong, it's really quite a pain to hack YI, and that game has some great potential.

Also, simple solution to crappy hacks: Don't play them.

Dude, buy a USB flash drive or something. Hell, there's flash card readers you can buy for ~$25 that can be removed from your computer and plugged into a USB port, and a 16-32MB CF or SD card is dirt cheap.

You don't need a new thread every time you make new graphics, you know. You can double post as long as the posts are 24 hours apart, if need be.

Anyway, comments:
1) Looks nice, the golden hills at the left especially. Putting OW graphics in a level is a cool idea.
2) Oooooh.... purdy.
3) Also good. Looks like you might have messed up part of the small trees' mouths though, or maybe they always looked like that and I just never noticed.
4) Adding foreground objects is a good way to create depth, but this one doesn't look especially good. It just looks like a big blue line, doesn't appear to be in the foreground at all, and why is there a pillar there anyway?
5) The vines look awesome just the way they are. Like some sort of weird candy in a squeeze tube. It's supposed to be like a fantasy land, isn't it? Makes sense to have some candy in it then.
6) Again, all pretty damn good. By weird objects, do you mean like "wtf is that doing there"? If so, that's fairly simple, just throw in everyday objects that don't belong in odd places. Farm tractors on small platforms, paint cans, etc.

BTW, where are your scorebars?

The dustpan was only really annoying because you couldn't kill it. It's easy to avoid.

I'm also not particularly fond of Shy Away in Super Mario RPG, just because he keeps coming back and reviving that damn plant. I like to go massacre a few when I'm done.

Keitaro sent me a bunch of samples extracted from the game, but IIRC he just used a tool to rip them. I also seem to remember Bouche saying things about the music format being MIDI-like.

A Super Mario RPG port would be awesome, especially if they added new content. Paper Mario DS would also be pretty sweet if it was actually like Paper Mario. That was the last RPG Mario game I enjoyed, ever since then they've had crappy battle systems based mainly on luck.

I don't remember him in Whomp's Fortess, but he was in Tall Tall Moutain. Also, you could pick him up from behind and throw him to get a load of money, but it's risky.
