Yeah, I knew nothing huge was going to happen. I so would have cut the power for 5 seconds if I worked in a power plant though.

Really, anyone who knows hex should have been able to tell why there was nothing special about the year 2000 to any of these computers. 2156, maybe, but I really doubt any such problems won't be fixed by then. Now, 2038 is the real problem, which is when we'll hit Unix timestamp 2,147,483,648; many computers will mistake it for -2,147,483,647 (around 1902). A few might last until 2106 though (timestamp 4,294,967,296, which they'll interpret as zero).

What's scary is that unlike Y2K, Y2.038K isn't a load of crap. I found this source code somewhere, dunno where:
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <time.h>

#define STRFTIME_BUF_SIZE 256

int main (int argc, char **argv)
{
time_t t;
int sec;
for (t = (time_t) (~0UL >> 1) - 10, sec = 0; sec < 20; sec++, t++)
{
char buf[STRFTIME_BUF_SIZE];
strftime (buf, STRFTIME_BUF_SIZE, "%a, %d %b %Y %H:%M:%S", localtime (&t));
printf ("%s\n", buf);
}
return 0;
}

This uses standard time functions to print the time that corresponds to each timestamp starting at Jan 18 2038 at 10:13:57 PM. Once it hits 10:14:08 PM, it crashes! This may not happen depending what compiler you use (I used MinGW), but if it does, then any program compiled with that compiler that tries to use these functions will crash at that time.

Also some old programs use Binary Coded Decimal, so right now they actually think it's the year "A6". They could have problems after 2059 ("F9") at which point they'll roll over to 00.

Yes, but the purpose in this case is to prevent getting spyware through it, not reduce resource consumption. Removing IE has its benefits, but Shyguy doesn't seem like someone with enough technical skills to do it without messing things up. (No offense. )

Hell, I still have it installed for testing things in.

I think I heard the emulator has a list of games Nintendo had planned to port, and a few of them work. It probably does a fair bit of OoT-specific HLE, though.

Most emulators can do a pixel-perfect HUD if you have a decent graphics card and tweak the graphic settings a bit.

Version 1.5 will enable you to change which MIO0 files are loaded in each level. The feature by itself is easy to implement, but other things need to be changed when a different MIO0 file is loaded, and you have to make sure that the current objects don't try to load an object in a MIO0 file that is not loaded anymore. So I'll have to build some interface that takes care of this, for example by highlighting those "orphan" objects, and refusing to save until you correct the problem. I'll also have to make sure that the MIO0 files you chose to load don't fill up RAM. All those safe-guards are not that easy to implement, and that's why it'll be in version 1.5.

Not crashing is always a good thing, but I think it'd be much nicer if it allowed you to save no matter what, just with a confirmation popup if it'd crash the game (like how LM warns you if you have unlinked exits, but lets you save anyway). The more control you have, the better. Often when someone makes an ASM hack for a game that someone else has made a level editor for (Super Mario World, anyone?) the editor presents problems by being too restrictive, like not allowing you to insert an 'invalid' object that would normally crash the game, even though the ASM hack makes this no longer occurr.
Also, it'd suck if you had to leave or close the program/turn off the computer halfway through making a level, but the editor wouldn't let you save until you fixed a few things and you simply didn't have time. You'd have to either risk being late or discard your level.

Well that and the fact that the DS's 4MB of RAM won't hold a 128MB commercial ROM.

Similarly in some Flash game I played, I just randomly hit the 'talk' button in the middle of nowhere, and I was talking to an invisible person who was actually at that same place in another room. Afterward I was suddenly teleported to that room. In the same game, you could buy negative amounts of items, and the shopkeeper would give you money.

3) GB Micro has no GBC compatibility.

Anyway not only is there a voltage difference, the cartridges are also wired differently. While GBC carts have 8 (out of 32) pins on the connector devoted to data, and 16 devoted to address, GBA uses the same pins for both (since it needs 24 for address), which would confuse the GBC carts.

As for annoying enemies, after playing Yoshi's Island, I want to go into a jungle and personally set fire to every monkey I see. Also, penguins in any Mario Kart game.

Yeah, I hate shaving, especially when you cut yourself and it won't stop bleeding. But what's really not fun is when the blade slices into the skin on your neck, and then just mangles and tears a large chunk off.

Just take it slow, and change the blade when it gets dull, you should be able to avoid any injuries pretty well after a few tries.

Yeah, at my school no program named "lololol.exe" is allowed to run, because for some reason their filter proxy only works with IE. Which is pretty stupid, because all you have to do is rename it. Let's see them block "iexplore.exe". HA!
