"Fun" times when I decided to tell someone about how I'd just had my DSL upgraded from 3mbps to 5mbps for practically nothing. About 2 seconds after I sent the message, I realized that the person I was talking to was stuck on dialup because he lives in some remote area. Pretty damn akward.

Oh yes, and sending someone the wrong image by accident tends to be interesting.

BGNG, not sure what's wrong with M0CK (but there's something), but do recall that my own compressor works except for that one padding bug. Maybe you could compare the code to see what they do differently. (And yes, I should rewrite mine to have code that isn't a huge mess, but that's beside the point. )

That and they're horribly buggy. Of course, Pokémon's text format is damn complicated, since the text is embedded right in the script code. Easy to edit in hex, hard to make an editor for.

Also, Translhextion and Hexecute.

Not much good when I need to read/write other settings that are already in the registry.

Luigi can get the vanish cap. Go through enemies and various walls, Missile Bills and similar don't chase you, etc.

As for how you accessed the triforce? I just remember it floating in the sky. I can't remember the exact method to find it but that sounds right.

Woah woah woah back up a second. Where did you find out about this?

[edit] I found a video, but that's just Link standing in one of the cutscenes. The goddeses fly off and leave a Triforce behind; link's just frozen in position there.

Posted on 03-26-06 04:35 AM, in StackWalk64 isn't walking so much as stomping Link
I'm calling StackWalk64 to get a stack dump of another thread, and it seems to be doing that alright, but it's mucking up the stack of the thread I call it from!

DWORD WINAPI GetContext(LPVOID Thread)
{
STACKFRAME64 StackFrame;
CONTEXT Context;
HMODULE db;
HANDLE hProcess, hThread;
unsigned int i = 0, j = 0;
char* fn;
DWORD64 offset, ptr1, ptr2;
int OldThreadID = MainThreadID;
MainThreadID = GetCurrentThreadId();

memzero(&Context, sizeof(Context));
memzero(&StackFrame, sizeof(StackFrame));
Context.ContextFlags = CONTEXT_CONTROL;

hProcess = OpenProcess(PROCESS_ALL_ACCESS, false, GetCurrentProcessId());
hThread = OpenThread(THREAD_ALL_ACCESS, false, (int)Thread);
db = LoadLibrary("dbghelp");
FUNCTION_TABLE_ACCESS_ROUTINE64 SymFunctionTableAccess64 = (FUNCTION_TABLE_ACCESS_ROUTINE64)GetProcAddress(GetModuleHandle("dbghelp"),"SymFunctionTableAccess64");
PGET_MODULE_BASE_ROUTINE64 SymGetModuleBase64 = (PGET_MODULE_BASE_ROUTINE64)GetProcAddress(GetModuleHandle("dbghelp"),"SymGetModuleBase64");
BOOL(*StackWalk64)(DWORD, HANDLE, HANDLE, LPSTACKFRAME64, CONTEXT*, PREAD_PROCESS_MEMORY_ROUTINE64, FUNCTION_TABLE_ACCESS_ROUTINE64, PGET_MODULE_BASE_ROUTINE64, PTRANSLATE_ADDRESS_ROUTINE64) =
(BOOL(*)(DWORD, HANDLE, HANDLE, LPSTACKFRAME64, CONTEXT*, PREAD_PROCESS_MEMORY_ROUTINE64, FUNCTION_TABLE_ACCESS_ROUTINE64, PGET_MODULE_BASE_ROUTINE64, PTRANSLATE_ADDRESS_ROUTINE64))GetProcAddress(GetModuleHandle("dbghelp"),"StackWalk64");

BOOL(*SymInitialize)(HANDLE, char*, BOOL) = (BOOL(*)(HANDLE, char*, BOOL))GetProcAddress(GetModuleHandle("dbghelp"),"SymInitialize");
BOOL(*SymCleanup)(HANDLE) = (BOOL(*)(HANDLE))GetProcAddress(GetModuleHandle("dbghelp"),"SymCleanup");

SuspendThread(hThread);
GetThreadContext(hThread, &Context);

DebugOut(DO_ALL, "Eip = %08X, Ebp = %08X, Esp = %08X\n", Context.Eip, Context.Ebp, Context.Esp);

StackFrame.AddrPC.Offset = Context.Eip;
StackFrame.AddrPC.Mode = AddrModeFlat;
StackFrame.AddrFrame.Offset = Context.Ebp;
StackFrame.AddrFrame.Mode = AddrModeFlat;
StackFrame.AddrStack.Offset = Context.Esp;
StackFrame.AddrStack.Mode = AddrModeFlat;

DebugOut(DO_CRITICAL | DO_NO_ERROR | DO_NO_MSGBOX, "\n----------BEGIN STACK DUMP----------\nReturn PC Frame Stack Trace\n");
while(true)
{
if(!StackWalk64(IMAGE_FILE_MACHINE_I386, hProcess, hThread, &StackFrame, &Context, NULL, SymFunctionTableAccess64, SymGetModuleBase64, NULL)) break;
fn = "<not in main program>";

ptr1 = (DWORD64)_first_func;
ptr2 = (DWORD64)_last_func;
if((StackFrame.AddrPC.Offset < ptr1) || (StackFrame.AddrPC.Offset >= ptr2))
offset = 0;

DebugOut(DO_ALL, "StackWalk64=%08X; SymInitialize=%08X; SymCleanup=%08X\n", StackWalk64, SymInitialize, SymCleanup);
blah(1,2,3);
DebugOut(DO_ALL, "StackWalk64=%08X; SymInitialize=%08X; SymCleanup=%08X\n", StackWalk64, SymInitialize, SymCleanup);
}
DebugOut(DO_CRITICAL | DO_NO_ERROR | DO_NO_MSGBOX, "Return PC Frame Stack Trace\n----------END STACK DUMP----------\n");

FreeLibrary(db);
MainThreadID = OldThreadID;
ResumeThread(hThread);
CloseHandle(hThread);
CloseHandle(hProcess);
ExitThread(0);
}

(Mind the messy unfinished code. )

After the first 2 calls, it starts thrashing the local variables, starting at the pointer to StackWalk64 itself. (It's not defined in my libraries/compiler/whatever.) Notice the line "blah(1,2,3);" - this is where things start getting corrupted. SymCleanup becomes 1, SymInitialize becomes 2, and StackWalk64 becomes 3 - the values of the parameters. It seems like somewhere the stack pointer isn't getting reset properly. Thing is, this only happens if I call StackWalk64. Even calling a different function with the same specs (9 params, all 32 bits, and return 32 bits) doesn't cause it.

Yep, Windows loves to do that. Just a few hours ago, when I moved the mouse away from the taskbar, the button that it was over wouldn't be highlighted anymore. Suddenly it's stopped doing this; the button stays highlighted as if the mouse were still over it. Not a big deal but argh if it gets back to how it was before I rebooted, where any mouse movement while clicking a button would make it permenantly highlighted (as if it were active) until I switch to it.

Also for a few hours before that reboot, Winamp's main window was missing its top left corner, just like the titlebars in my current theme. Windows had suddenly decided to apply the same clipping effect to Winamp as to title bars. I simply can't imagine what sort of weird programming would allow for this to happen without anything going horribly wrong (you'd think at least the window would be really messed up).

Of course most of these things go away when I reboot, but not all of them. Several months ago my Start menu started to just not redraw certain areas, and this problem survived many reinstalls and an upgrade of everything except my CD-ROM, only to disappear about a month ago. Also ever since a month or two ago, Gaim gives me some 'no disk in \device\dr18' message when I start it. Frickin weird.

How about a powerup that boosts the power of whatever suit you have? If you're Fire Mario, your fireballs would kill enemies they normally can't, if you're Raccoon Mario, you could fly longer, Ice Mario's ice balls would freeze enemies longer, etc.

The Triforce. I've known Gameshark sucks for quite some time now.

Originally posted by Prinnyhero
Okay, two things, first off I have a Gameshark that my girlfriend gave me, all of my games work fine EXCEPT my ZELDA game on it. I take extremely good care of my games and it works fine on the 64. Anybody know why?

Are you using the proper key code? I think you need V3.3 for Zelda.

Second, I've had a problem with ZELDA OOT for a long time. I've had this question that nobody could ever answer. Well maybe someone here will know. I doubt it though. ANYWAYS, I have everything 100%. Heart containers, golden spiders, upgrades, and bottles. I have it all, really. I got the stupid present that the guy gives you in the house after you get 100 gold spiders (What a ripoff) but theres always been a shiny redish orange pointer above Kakariko village (The one under goron mountain) as if theres something missing or i have to go there. I have no idea what this means and I've don everything I can think of. Has anyone else experienced this?

Probably a glitch... though I've noticed on that seemingly useless green hill near the entrance, there's something shiny. Jumping up there from the rooftops/via Gameshark doesn't reveal anything interesting.
