I'll see your open computer and raise you my Win98 testing box. Literally a computer in a cardboard box. HDD/CD/Floppy and power supply sit on the floor next to it. It has a video card, but I just control it with VNC.

Yeah, I tend to miss the fun stuff too. Not this one though.

And the rainbow colours just disappeared.

So what exactly does that (NR) by the names mean?

Posted on 03-05-06 07:02 PM, in when it comes to hex editing, then I'm a dummy.. Link
Translhextion is nice for pretty much everything Hex Workshop doesn't do (and is free, unlike HW); that is, it has table support. (HW can do a form of basic tables, if you want to put them all in manually using its own special format and editor, but yeah. ) It has some minor graphic bugs, but it works well (and unlike Hexecute, doesn't have a huge memory leak).

Just disable the resident shield entirely? I'm not sure a lot of people would want that...

I know it's possible for any extension to be treated as an executable. Photoshop executes .tmp files, and Kazaa Lite K++ (back when it didn't suck) executed some .kpp files. If you were to rename it to some un-scanned extension, and make a loader to launch it, it might get around this.

Hm, when I try to fake transparency using GIFs, it always looks crappy.

Linking to the website is good but it doesn't really solve the problem. People will still be using the local copy instead. My suggestion is to link directly to the download page on whatever site it's on, and have the local copy next to it as a backup. Try to make it clear that it should only be used if the site is down. Like I said, if people don't see the download page, they don't see the list of needed files, any updates, or any more information than the short description given.

That's awesome. When I finally get a laptop (around the time Hell notices a bit chill), I'll play it on an emulator during some long trip.

... Sorry but this is the total opposite of my experience. Maybe schools are better with wireless than they are with ordinary wired networks (none of the schools here can afford wireless ) but damn... local admin password last year was 'welcome'. They use Deep Freeze thinking it gives total security, but don't put a password on the BIOS (floppy drive is even the first boot device, and CD the second), and the password is 'freezer'. They often forget to even activate it. Their idea of security is to disable right-clicking on the taskbar and remove the File menu from Explorer. It's hilarious... until you get yelled at for using Notepad because the teacher doesn't recognize it and thinks it's a virus. XD

Legally, unless you remove it from the PC, you'd have to buy another copy. Anyway I suggest you call or email the company; say you're reinstalling Windows or some such.

No, and it would kill the batteries really fast. However, there is the GBA Movie Player, Supercard and M3, which have Compact Flash or SD card slots on them. M3 and I think Supercard can be used as a GBA flash cart; GBAMP can launch multiboot GBA apps, play movies and music in its own custom format and view images and text files. (It claims to be able to play NES and GBC games, but all they mean is you can run PocketNES and GoomBA on it. )

This is true, but I bet the Mario voices could be distorted to sound lile Luigi. All the voices in that game are already very distorted from what they really are anyway. And especially since Nintendo randomly switches between Luigi's good voice (as in Mario Kart 64) and that shitty Mario-like one.

Games run fine with AVG for me. Maybe if it's scanning while you're playing, but that's easy enough to prevent.

That's just a flash cart that connects to the computer through USB. He asked if there was a flash cart that you could connect a USB flash stick to.
