I use the mouse but I do use a lot of keyboard shortcuts. Though sometimes I use the keyboard for really fine mouse movements, like during graphic editing when I need something to be pixel-perfect. I found a nice feature where any time you turn Num Lock off, the numpad acts as a mouse, since having it emulate the arrow keys is useless.

I also once tried using one of those really old joysticks as a mouse, which was neat but too hard to use. You don't get much precision that way. Plus only one button worked.

I'd wait a few days and it'd be back up again. Then I'd re-register.

If it really were gone forever, I'd simply spend more time at other forums. It'd suck, but shit happens.

Sure. For that matter, I have memories of random, meaningless moments all throughought my childhood that won't go away, despite that there's absolutely nothing significant about them. Some of them didn't even actually happen, or the angle I remember seeing things at is impossible (like outside of my own head).

Ever had a dream in which you had a dream?

It's up to you whether to use JPEG or PNG. PNG offers perfect quality while JPEG is smaller. (JPEG is designed for real-life pictures, screenshots and artwork and such will look fuzzy and don't even think about editing them.) BMP just plain sucks.

I don't think it'd be much different than hacking music. Problem is the SNES sound processor, not to mention SMW's sound program, are quite limited.

*wonders how hard it'd be to make a whole new sound engine for SMW, with its own format, and port SMW music to it*

Hm... I got to thinking last night, even if we could pull this off, how could we retain compatibility with all the ASM hacks and custom blocks out there? They're all designed specifically for an LM-modified ROM. The original SMW engine is very limited, for example, you can only use levels 1-24 on the main overworld, they have to be in a certain order, and you can only use 1xx on submaps, etc... I think it'd take a lot of hacking to work around some of these restrictions that would otherwise make hacking it a nightmare. Then we end up with different ASM hacks than Fu's, in different places, etc. All these other hacks and tools expect specific code in specific places and may use parts of it or place their own data in what they expect to be unused space. I can't see any viable way to retain much if any compatibility with existing hacks and a lot of custom blocks, which would upset quite a few people.

That certainly is odd, seeing as you do STA and then STZ right afterward. Unless that's some special hardware address or an interrupt happens to occurr right between those (which is like a 1 in 4 million chance), the code that handles that address wouldn't even know you'd written a 1, because you'd have written a 0 again right afterward.

Whee, confusion.

1) Rev controllers are wireless, but there are Gamecube controller ports on the console.
2) Things can plug into the controller itself, using a wire.
3) A rev controller, turned sideways, is similar in shape to an NES controller.
4) If Nintendo does release 64DD stuff everywhere on Rev, they win.
5) If they finish OoT's 64DD stuff and release that as well, they win even more. </dream>

Nintendo is awesome but I partially agree on the 'lack of violent games' bit. Sure, you don't need a lot of violent games, but they're nice to have. So often I see a commercial for a really cool, only slightly or not at all violent game, and I think I'd like to get it, and then at the end I look at all the little logos... Xbox, PS2, sometimes PC. It's not that they need more violent games, it's that they need more games period. I've always been one to stick up for Nintendo when people say they have all kiddy games, but honestly, compare the Gamecube's roster to other consoles'. Family-fun games are fine but every now and then I'd like to just blow some virtual heads off or steal some e-cars or something. My only option is to get these games for PS2, and those things break down so much it's not funny. (Plus my PS2 is always in use. )

As far as next-gen goes... Getting Rev ASAP. Might get a 360 later if it has a more impressive library than the original (sports, sports, sports, beach volleyball, sports, shooter, shooter, sports... yawn). Was thinking about getting a PS3 like 3-4 years after its launch to give them time to fix most of the really stupid flaws, but after that rootkit incident, I don't buy Sony products anymore. You lose, Sony.

Yeah, I already wrote about that in one or two other places (my blog, for one) and listed quite a few flaws in the idea. Not just the obvious problem of relying on a Sony console not breaking, but other things, like the obscene prices rental stores would undoubtedly be charged for rentable discs (so much for small stores) and the people who won't even bother to buy a console that won't play used games. (My mom's boyfriend plays PS2 constantly, and he buys all his games used. I'm sure he'd be happy with an Xbox 360 if this wasn't an option with the PS3. ) I may not think too highly of Sony, but I really doubt they'd be that stupid. They probably just patented it for the sake of having a patent. (Honestly, patenting something should only be legal if you ever actually use the idea. It's unfair to those who actually intend to use it, possibly for something really cool. Though I can't imagine this particular idea being used in anything good, the point remains.)

Wired rev controllers would be pretty hard to use. You swing it back to take a big chop with your sword, and oops! Plug comes out. And if they actually use some of my crazy ideas (see archived Rev threads) such as strapping controllers to your limbs... chaos ensues.

Also, I think the cord coming out would be rather uncomfortable when holding the controller sideways.
