Most likely it's some extension acting up. Adblock has some problems with FF 1.5, like instead of actually hiding the images, they just don't load. (It could be blocking these images for some reason; if you have one of those auto-update extensions for it, the latest update may have blocked some things it shouldn't.) What you can do, though it's slow, is disable the first extension in the list and restart FF. If it still happens, re-enable it and disable the next one, and keep doing this until it works correctly. If this doesn't work, there could also be an extension conflict, particularly if you have 2 extensions that do similar things. You can also do this in reverse, disabling all extensions and enabling them one by one until it starts to act up.

And if all else fails, clear the cache; if that doesn't work, reinstall FF, and if it's still acting up (without extensions), reinstall Windows.

Also I'm assuming you already did thourough spyware and virus scans.

I wonder if an expansion chip such as SA-1 could decompress MP3s at a reasonable speed? Really, the only things stopping you are being able to decompress the file fast enough, and having enough RAM for the decompressed sample that's being played.

Speaking of sound though, there's one thing I never quite got. Most consoles offer multiple sound channels, for example, the Game Boy can play 2 solid tones, a really small wave sample, and static all at once. But in the end, this all gets mashed together and comes out one speaker. A single speaker can't produce multiple frequencies at the same time, so this must mean the different sounds all get mixed into one. Does this not mean, then, that any sound can be reproduced using only one channel? To further support this, you can play all of these sounds at once and record them with a microphone... surely the mic can't split it back into 4 separate sounds. So if this is the case, why are multiple channels even necessary?

Suggestion: Turn on the thing that automatically reloads the file if a modification was found.

That never seemed to work quite right for me. I just avoid having the ROM open in two programs at the same time unless I know it won't cause problems.

Yes, you simply need to find the file and put it in your Windows directory. (Tip: Look here. )

I'm pretty sure it's a GB CPU emulator, though it might only be complete enough to run Pokémon and whatever else happens to work. I doubt it bothers to emulate the various memory controllers and cartridge types, since it's using a real cartridge. Though for speed reasons it might copy the ROM into memory (or even have it stored in the game, and only use the cartridge for verification and saving). Unlike G/S, R/B were not designed to be compatible, so the emulator had to use a few hacks. I imagine one such hack was to simply show 'saving...' on any access to the save file, which is why it would pop up if you did other things like erased the file (or crashed the game in some cases).

Well that's just it, just as you start to get used to one enemy's timing, it does something completely different. Plus every enemy is different. I didn't care to keep playing long enough to get any good at it, it just pissed me off.

Well, poop... 4-way tie. (If DarkPhoenix really did accidentally click A when he meant B, that is.)

Sloat, your idea sounds interesting. Basically like method B but not using strings? It could work, but it loses the advantages you get from using strings.

I've thought about this a bit more and I think I could actually implement a combination of B and C. That is, B, but with a function that does string commands like C. One advantage I forgot to add to B and C (which I'll do now) is that plugins could register their own strings for easy cross-plugin communication. That is, plugin X registers the string "MakeXDoSomething". Once this is done, plugin Y can look up the address for "MakeXDoSomething", and if it exists, call it. The actual call would just pass the parameters along to plugin X in a message.

BTW if it makes any difference, this program is only designed for WinXP and up, since it requires a lot of XP-only features. However I'll probably use similar systems in other programs that may be used on older OSes.

Quite fun when you got the one that randomly changed the music.

I abused the Item Duplication Trick all the time for my TMs. I wasn't so lame as to abuse it for Master Balls (erm... usually... I'd sometimes get them just for the Birds and Mewtwo, but I never used them against other people) or Nuggets, but yeah, I'd dupe TMs. Even stumbled on a way to de-glitchify the number of items duplicated.

Yeah, I remember finding a little trick with the numbers too. Sometimes it would say 09 when you really have >100... just go to throw them out. It'd say 09 if you have 9, and ' 9' (with a space) if you have >100. Then you can cancel.
