Well I can almost ensure you C/C++ will be faster, but it's not too important for simple things. You might see a difference in a 3D game, but what matters most there is your video card.

But then this isn't about what language is better.

It shouldn't make any difference. Maybe if you set the other selection-related options. (Can't recall what they are. )

Also don't forget to verify when the user pastes text in. They can do this without the keyboard in WinXP.

Yeah, scrollbars are a pain.

In place of InvalidateRect, you can use RedrawWindow. Just be careful; if you don't handle the paint event right, it'll repaint again and use up all your CPU power. Look into BeginPaint and EndPaint if this happens.

It only comes with drivers for hardware that comes with a factory stock mac but, there's nothing to stop 3rd party developers from writing drivers. In the next few months, I'd expect a slew of drivers coming from all the different hardware manufacturers.

Yes, but like Tarale said, a company writing them would most likely be illegal, and a bunch of hackers writing them without the source or (likely) any documentation probably isn't good for stability. (With Windows and Linux it's different because you get official devkits, and in Linux's case source code. I doubt Apple will offer these, at least not for free.)

Could be a Windows thing. I've had similar happen. Windows would read my floppy drive for no reason when viewing large directories in Explorer (doesn't anymore because my floppy drive no longer works), and a few times Photoshop mentioned that I had no disk in my floppy/CD drive despite that I'd never opened a file from either. Gaim also gave me a random error about not finding a hard disk yesterday.

Windows' firewall sucks anyway, and I haven't used McAfee's but I was none too happy with their antivirus. You might want to try a few others, most have free trials or even are free.
