Well, no, not quite. The SNES processor runs the program code that decompresses the graphics. However, it also does almost everything else from checking the controller to making you die when you touch something bad to what the hell ever. It's essentially impossible for the emulator to know what task each piece of code performs. To write an actual decompressor you need to examine the code that does it (or figure out the format) and write a program that does the same.

^ Wouldn't that make a torpedo bill?

One thing you can do with Rex is replace the 'big' graphic with Tall Guy (I think they were in Lakitu's Wall in Yoshi's Island), and the 'small' graphic with an ordinary Shy Guy.

Also, in a board-themed hack, you could change Goombas to smilies with feet.

Most distros have tools to do this that you can run from the CD. Partion Magic is also popular. Neither are guaranteed to work, though, so make backups. (And be VERY careful during installation because most Linux programs don't ask for confirmation before doing something potentially destructive. )

1) Get rid of all that mandatory crap. Unless it's absolutely necessary (like basic math and a first language), you don't have to take it. I'd bet pretty good money that I will never find myself wishing I'd paid more attention in French or History.

2) Offer absolutely everything, with all the necessary equipment. Foreign languages, obscure sciences, weird shit most people have never heard of... I know it's totally infeasible, but hey, it's a dream.

3) Have someone who knows anything about computers manage the computer systems. 2ghz computers should not run slower than my old 486, school computers don't need built-in speakers, and for the love of God learn some security. Blocking right-click on the taskbar and removing Explorer's File menu does not secure a damn thing, especially not when anyone can just pull up a command prompt. IE should be blocked, and lololol should be the default browser - NOT the other way around! (If your filter sucks that much that just using another browser bypasses it, GET ONE THAT WORKS! And don't filter every connection through one outdated system!) And FFS, blocking programs by filename is the worst security system ever!

4) Teachers that give a damn. Nah, that'll never happen.

That's one thing I like about lololol, if your post doesn't go through, hit Back and it's still there.

Anyway, it's interesting to note that Wet-Dry World and Dire Dire Docks have 0x31 commands. Every other level that has them is composed of completely separate areas; you reach them by a warp (the screen fades out to load the area, it often has different textures and music), and if you die inside you skip the star select and restart right there. In these two levels, though, it's as if they were one big area; they load while you're in the tunnel. A third exception is the pyramid boss room; it loads inline as well, but you restart inside it if you die. Just thought that was interesting to note. If we could figure out how to do that whole loading inline thing, we could have potentially massive levels using it that seem like one big area. Wonder how big, exactly?

Also interesting to note is that Bowser's courses lack these, even though they warp to the Bowser battle arenas.

No, they're just full of crap and/or don't know just what a hacker is, exactly. They assume that since he can choose courses that aren't on the list, that automatically means he'll give you 0 wins and 80000 losses and wipe your firmware and kill your dog. They don't know that none of this is actually possible (unless someone were to find a buffer overflow, but Nintendo's pretty good about that), they just get scared. And of course some of them pull things directly from their ass.

I thought about this before myself... if you just used those javascript show/hide buttons that every other forum has, and stored the status in a cookie, you wouldn't need any database fields, or for that matter, any PHP code changes at all (except to add the JS).

To grease the rails for this idea, Sen. Arlen Specter, a Pennsylvania Republican, and the section's other sponsors slipped it into an unrelated, must-pass bill to fund the Department of Justice. The plan: to make it politically infeasible for politicians to oppose the measure.

Sad enough that this can be done, even worse that it was featured on The Simpsons. Did (can?) Bush even read this bill?
