If you have all that extra space, then why not just copy all of C: to this new partition, reinstall, and copy back the programs' files as necessary?

You might also be able to call the manufacturers for replacement CDs if you have the serial numbers.

Posted on 02-06-07 01:11 AM, in will an 'update' to vista soon be necessary? Link
I'd avoid Vista as long as possible. I intend to switch to Linux soon (probably whenever I replace this computer if not sooner), but that's not really a viable solution for everyone. From what I've seen, Vista is XP with pretty graphics, huge system requirements, and DRM out the wazoo. No thanks.

This appears to be a common problem among people with SATA raid controllers (like me), although most of what I read shows that for most people it happens right away, but I don't start having problems until I try to install the ATI drivers. Almost as if they're some kind of...catalyst...

Buggy drivers are one of Windows' big problems. Ironically, it's not really Microsoft's fault. :-/

My Pokémon G/S editor handles saving maps in a simple but effective way: Zero out the map data in ROM, find a block of zeros large enough to hold the map, and save it there. This way if your new map is the same size or smaller than the old one, it gets put in the same place. Basically what TrackDes does except wiping out the old data first. (Those maps aren't compressed though.)

Bouche once mentioned the idea of figuring out the maximum possible size a compressed map could be (assuming it's compressed with the editor, not something dumb like repeating "1 byte uncompressed" commands over and over), and allocating each map that much space at the end of the ROM (basically assuming they will reach that size). This would allow you to save them in the same place each time, always using a specific amount of space.

I think official games have to, or at least, since the devkit provides it there's no reason not to.
Also, having to move your card to the PC, copy the ROM to it, move it back to the DS and load it all the time must be a pain. I test my apps via Download Play.

The SA-1 is an entire coprocessor. I'm not sure what MAD-1 is, but I doubt it could do what SA-1 was used for.

Yeah, and it's not even PAL compatible and has those SFC lockout tabs. WTF? It's neat, but it could have been a lot better. NES controller support would be piss-easy, you can even wire SNES controllers to an NES or vice-versa. And for being made in 2006, the inability to load games off an SD card is disappointing. (OK, maybe I'm asking too much. )

Nice. Reminds me of when I moved a "THIS WATER IS NOT FOR DRINKING" sign in a bathroom to above the urinals.

Those big outdoor signs with the removeable letters are a gold mine for... er, messing up signs.

I prefer to just rearrange them, and drop unneeded ones on the ground or pile them in a corner.
