Exactly. There could be a huge boost overnight but it'll still be ages before you're paying reasonable amounts for that speed, just because they can squeeze more out of you by dragging it on.

So is it 18 or 19? I don't see where they're getting the 3 from in 16+3, when n=2.

During rendering, the game makes a pass over the internal structures that are created from the geometry layout commands. The game collects all display list pointers needed for the current frame into a number of groups. The group that the pointer goes in is determined by the second byte of the geometry layout command. Then, after going through internal geometry layouts for objects that are being drawn, the game goes through the groups. For each group, the game sets the render mode for that group, and then calls the contained display lists.

The reason the display lists are grouped by render mode is so that translucent polygons can be drawn last, possibly among other reasons. If translucent polygons are not drawn last, the rendered scene would not look right.

Nice. I've been trying to figure out how translucency works in Mario Kart 64. What GBI/RSP commands are being used here to do translucency?

Did you play every song for at least 5 minutes? Even then, it could be an incomplete rip.

This is certainly a neat secret, I remember finding it in Yoshi's Story. Super Mario World has a similar trick in the Special World, but with a different song.

Also, the English version of Link's Awakening has secret music if you name yourself "ZELDA", but I don't know if it's that song. I thought I had a copy but apparently not.

Yeah, it sounds like it's overheating. Mine runs pretty warm even with what should be proper ventilation (though I wonder if the stand itself doesn't block the air vent ), but it's been acting normal so far.

Also:

The News Channel takes forever to load, but I guess it's worth it, because it works perfectly after that.

Mine is slow too, probably because there's a lot of information to load.

I also tried to reformat my Wii memory and lost every single peice of data

That's what reformatting does. It's a fancy way of saying erase everything and set up an empty filesystem.

I heard they dropped the price in Japan right at launch, but I don't recall where though. That's probably old news anyway. Also, Wii News (surprise!) had a long article about Sony's profits dropping 5% from the PS3 launch.
