Yes, I've been known to turn off the alarm, fall asleep again, then wake up two hours later and ask who the hell turned off my clock. Or someone would wake me up, I'd fall asleep, wake up later and ask why they didn't wake me up. My memory takes a few minutes to start up in the morning.

I like loud alarms because they pretty much scare me awake to the point I'm not going back to sleep soon, but I tend to panic and start mashing all the buttons, pulling the plug, throwing it across the room etc because I can't remember how to shut it up.

Upgrade.

[edit] OR: Use someone else's computer to download some big files, since they'd have no lag.

Kickass. Do the beta shells act any different?

I've seen some of the debug text before. I think the development systems would have used a keyboard and mouse. This game has a fair bit of interesting text in it, but most is probably useless. There is one bit that looks like either a debug menu or an exception screen, which would be neat to poke at.

(Tip: search for "%08X".)

It certainly looks like some sort of anti-piracy trick, or a bizarrely coincidental corruption.

It's accurately emulating a real Pokémon cartridge. Probably because No$GMB is a steaming load and bgb isn't a whole lot better. Have you tried VisualBoyAdvance? No real debugging features for GBC games, but it's great for playing the games.

Posted on 01-10-07 02:45 AM, in collision detection Link
If you're using rectangular boxes, all you need to do is compare their positions. For each corner of box A, if its coordinates are >= the top left corner of box B and <= the bottom right corner of box B, they're overlapping. However, if your boxes aren't square, you also need to consider this possibility:

.-------. box A
| |
| |
| |
.--+-------+---. box B
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| '-------' |
| |
'--------------'

If you only test box B's corners, you'll miss the collision because they're all outside of box A; you need to test box A's corners against box B as well. Worse:

.-------. box A
| |
| |
| |
.--+-------+---. box B
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
'--+-------+---'
| |
'-------'

You should see the problem here quickly.

Yes, that's one of the downsides to all-in-one devices. Similarly, it can be difficult to do multiple tasks on them at once compared to having a separate machine for each task. That's the one thing I don't like about using my DS as an MP3 player instead of using my dedicated MP3 player; I have to stop the music to run other programs to do things like write notes and look at my schedule. (But the standalone player just doesn't have enough room for my collection, and is hard on batteries. )

So I booted up my laptop and went to copy files from the desktop. Password prompt comes up and I start typing in the (oh so original) username "NetworkUser". Whoops, missed the 'N', try it again... WTF? The 'N' key isn't responding! Every other key works but N won't do a thing.

So as I'm grumbling angrily and wondering how long it'll take to have the silly thing fixed, I start thinking I should probably wipe the hard drive and put their software back on, on the off chance they get nosy. But that'll require rebooting, and my BIOS boot password has the letter N in it too. Shi--wait, I typed in that password just fine.

Reboot and whaddaya know, it works again. Ah, Windows (Widows?), so very crazy you are.
