This is perhaps the most important sentence in this thread. If you really don't believe in global warming, fine, but you simply can't deny that pollution is still a big problem. Go to downtown Toronto and look up. Can you see the sun? Clouds? In the more crowded areas, you see nothing but smog. Pure pollution. I don't even know how people can breathe there anymore.

Living underwater is what we really need to be working on, and living on the moon is a HUGE step toward that.

Sure, you can do advanced things in VB, but it's a pain without having access to window message pumps and being able to do multithreading (at least, not without a lot of frustration or silly third-party addons). I wrote a simple Game Boy emulator I need to finish in VB and got about 1 frame per second. Ported to C it wasn't much better, but as soon as I tweaked how window messages were handled - something I couldn't do in VB - it flew to like 120FPS.

No pointers = as well.

Yeah, the auto-save was a lifesaver when I experimented with things like multithreading and subclassing and frequently crashed the IDE, or created an infinite message box loop, or it just crashed for no real reason.

So one of you has experience with OpenGL? (DirectX is MS-only so let's just steer clear of that.) Script parsing? All the heavy trigonometry involved in 3D hit detection, raycasting etc which you'll need to select and move things with the mouse? You've already managed to build a simple 3D scene with some textures of varying sizes and bit depths?

If not, any sort of 3D editor is going to be a ton of work.
