I thought things like music and table breaking were forbidden in bios because of that silly "Show Bio" option in the memberlist that oughta be removed anyway.

n3g-z3r0, that reminds me. A few days ago some Jehovas were approaching, and I guess my dad saw them through the window. He shouted "JEHOVA ALERT" and they just turned around and left.

As for telemarketers, I do some fun things with them sometimes, but I like Alastor's idea more than anything.

Posted on 12-11-06 07:10 PM, in So I got a 4GB Compact Flash card... Link
Yep, four gigabytes and pretty fast too. Still in the original package, even; never opened. Reason being it's defective.

I know this because a few months ago I bought one online, and after a month or so, it died on me. Most of the card became completely unwriteable. So I sent it to the manufacturer to have it replaced. Guess what? The replacement died in exactly the same way after exactly the same amount of time. I know it was actually replaced and not just repaired somehow because things I'd written on it weren't there anymore.

When I sent the second one in I tossed a note in the box stating these cards "didn't appear to be compatible with my system" (really, I think they just plain suck, given the overall poor quality of the manual, company's web site, tech support, etc) and I'd appreciate them just sending me a check for a refund or something along those lines. But no, they sent me a third card which I'm convinced is just going to die in a month in the same way.

I can't return it to the place I bought (Tiger Direct.ca) it because it's been over a month, and the manufacturer (Transcend) will only replace it when it dies. As they're located in Hong Kong or somewhere near there it takes forever to get the replacement, so even just sending it back every month isn't an option.

So I'm looking for some way to get rid of this thing and get my money back (~$150 at the time). The only option I can think of is eBay, but I don't have a credit card (which they require for everything, regardless of how you pay ), I doubt I'd get much for it (especially since $150 - eBay fees = some horribly low amount), and I honestly don't feel comfortable doing business with a company that sends me so much freaking spam.
The only other option that comes to mind is buying a different brand of 4GB card at a store somewhere, and returning the Transcend card in its place saying it doesn't work right or something and getting a refund. Though this has three problems: One, it's dishonest and probably illegal, two, it'd be difficult to switch the cards without it being noticeable (maybe if I switched the stickers on the cards, if I could remove them without damaging them), and three, nobody sells 4GB CF cards here (last time I asked, I was told they don't exist ).

I thought about just phoning them and asking what's the deal, but the only number on their website is in whatever country they are and is intended for sales questions or something. Email is no good; I had to email them just to get an RMA number to send the thing in (their RMA request form is broken, and every time I mention it they claim to fix it but don't), and it took like 6 tries for them to even give me that.

I wonder if there's some organization or something that deals with cases like this? I'd consider small claims court but the price would be astronomical, and I don't know how I'd prove anything.

....Anyone want to buy a CF card?

Looks difficult but alright to me. Only thing that makes me worry is "camouflaged pits". I hope you don't mean chunks of ground that you fall through, because that's one of the biggest mistakes you can make in level design and I certainly wouldn't keep playing after falling into a trap like that. Unless of course there's some way to tell the difference that's not too incredibly difficult to figure out.

OK, so, screenshots...

  1. Nice graphics, but the background isn't great. You should consider adding more pipes further in the background.
  2. Nothing great, though the SMB3 blocks look nice against the silver background.
  3. Meh.
  4. I'm guessing those blue dotted lines are the "something important"?

BTW, if the entire game is pipe themed, the castle oughta have something to do with pipes. Even if there's just a lot of them around.

I don't think bgsound has ever been officially supported by anything except the browser that invented it.
<embed src="LoveIsInDanger.mp3" autostart="false" hidden="false">
would do it. The no-auto-start rule means you can't have it hidden as there'd be no way to manually start it. Also, WAVs are going to be freaking huge, so you probably don't want to use them (kills the user's and your server's bandwidth).

The "show bio" is already gone.

Music is allowed in profiles as long as it does not auto-start. Same as Flash.

Hm, so breaking tables to add extra fields is allowed then?

I'd sit in random things and "drive" them. Those playgrounds that actually had a steering wheel placed randomly at the edge of something were just awesome.
