Here I was expecting Banjo-Kazooie, which I really need to play through again if I ever find another copy.

What, so you like paying for a portion of the screen that doesn't get used? I mean if you had a wide TV that'd be another thing, but letterbox is just annoying.

More than likely, they don't have the various content descramblers (and/or whatever) required to actually play movies.

This can all be done via software.

Yes, but every console I've seen except the N64 and Gamecube also fails for having a big honking plug that takes up three outlets. I had a phone once that had a long instead of wide plug, why can they not do that? Or put an outlet on the back of it? Or just make power bars spaced further apart?

[edit] Forgot about Xbox 360.

Hm, what I really want to know is are the Wiimotes surviving this abuse? Nintendo's history shows they should, but after the N64 and Gamecube's controllers... :-/

Well that depends on your computer. As a general rule, if you don't have a metric fuckton of RAM, it's going to be noticeably slow.

Crazy as it may sound, if you're just barely affording to eat, you should probably lose the Internet connection entirely for now unless you're making money from it somehow. (Keep the free trial though, obviously.) Food you get on that sort of budget isn't very good, both taste-wise and health-wise, and eating decent food is probably more important than being online.

You might consider buying a wireless card though and seeing if you can mooch a neighbour's connection. Few people even notice or care if you try to keep the bandwidth usage as low as possible, and AFAIK, it's legal if they don't make any effort to keep you out.

You can attatch files to posts.

Also I can understand it being fun to just give your character Godlike powers. OoT was fun the first few times but now it's kinda meh. Being able to fly, outrun Sonic the Hedgehog, grab anything with a hookshot from any distance, kill anything with one hit while never taking any damage yourself, etc does add a bit of fun back into the game.

If you want unused RAM areas, open a memory viewer and start looking. Big blocks filled with 0x55 are those that have yet to be used at all by the game, so are probably safe to use; just play through a few parts of the game with a write breakpoint on them and make sure it never hits. Blocks of zeros tend to be cleared each time a level loads; these may not be truly unused, but rather part of a table. If the table never gets big enough to overwrite them, then you can probably use them safely.

Make sure you check which bank you're in too.

Yep, I've done similar too. Near-black text on black backgrounds.

Also, I'm guessing I should have read that comic ages ago? It's pretty awesome. Just spent the last several hours reading it all. Only thing that disappointed me was that they didn't go into any Pokémon or 3D games.

And yes, 576 is rofflecakes.

This is one of those things I know I should do but never get around to. I'd have considered going through it today but I spent the day reading Kid Radd instead.

Embedding Gameshark codes into a game depends on the type of code, but it's not generally that difficult. Basically hook the VBlank handler and do whatever that code would be doing, just as the Shark itself does.

I just made and posted the Hookshot code in ROM Hacking a day or two ago, so no surprise you haven't heard of it.
