Sometimes I'd browse at school and always was glad guests had layouts off, because I didn't have to log in and change my settings to turn them off. Those computers were much too slow and some layouts back then were much too NSFW for them to be turned on. I'm sure other people are still in the same position. |

Well sure, there's nothing wrong with Mario or Zelda or Gary... I imagine the idea is to ignore those. |

Oh, way to go Sony! How much did they spend on copy protection... and one Linux command copies a game directly to your hard disk (built in or external). 6 days from launch and someone's already dumping the games, wow. |

Hm, for Fire Bros, why not just have them spit a custom sprite which looks and acts like Mario's fireball, but hurts him instead of enemies? |

Ideally I sleep when I'm tired and continue to do so until I'm not tired anymore. In reality it usually ends up more like this...
|
-If I have to work the next morning, decide to go to bed at 11-12PM. Actually go to bed at 1-2AM and sleep until 7 or so. -If I work in the afternoon, go to bed whenever and sleep until anywhere from noon to 3, despite wanting to get up at (and setting four alarm clocks at) 8-10. -If I have the day off tomorrow, stay up until I'm tired (anywhere from 3-7AM) and sleep for 6-8 hours. Usually end up sleeping for 10 hours despite what my alarms are set for.

Yeah, did you hear that thing hit the ground? KABOOM! He must have just chucked it as hard as possible and let go, like WTF.

Anyway, I called Nintendo to ask them some questions I had about Wii. I can't say I'm particularly happy with the results... Q: Can or will Wii play DVDs? A: No, but there will be another version (a separate console) released that will. Now this doesn't make sense to me. If the games are already using a DVD-like media then why the heck can't DVD playback be given through a firmware update? Blah blah licensing fees, it's not like they can't charge for this update. Q: Can the Gamecube Broadband Adapter be used? A: Didn't really have an answer here. He mentioned there'd be a LAN adapter (for those who don't have wifi), but couldn't say if GCN BBA games could be used with it. I was hoping I could buy the GCN Action Replay and use it on my Wii to hack GCN games, instead of actually buying another GCN and BBA just for this. Unless someone finds another means of doing high-speed transfers between the Wii in Gamecube mode and a PC, replacing the need for the BBA for hacking (though you're still SOL if you want to use it for any official features). (I had a GCN, but it was half my brother's, and since he played it so much more than I did, I just kept my games and left the rest when I moved. )
Q: Is there any form of discount or trade-in for Virtual Console games if we already own the originals? A: No, you have to buy them again.
Q: If the system were to die, would we have to buy our VC games again since they're locked to the system they're bought on? A: Wasn't entirely sure on this one either, but he said since the account information is on their server, you should be able to call and have them transfer your account to another console, which would allow you to re-download the games for free. This does make me wonder though what happens if the original console isn't dead, and still has those games on it. ![]()

Hm, me too. I enjoy watching animé, but practically never actually do. |
The only times I usually do are before going to sleep and after waking up, and that's only if I have time (I never do).

Send them in. |
They could be stamped or have a serial number recorded or something and sent back so you keep the original without being able to have a friend send the same cart in. Or just have adapters for them. There's a few ways it could be done.
Originally posted by ColinHopefully it does, because if the games really are so similar to DVD, there's no reason at all DVD playback can't be offered through an optional software update.
I was just disappointed that when I FINALLY find a GCN AR in a store, I no longer have a GCN. I was hoping to use Wii for the same purpose, but that'd require BBA compatibility. I'm not about to buy another Gamecube just for that unless it's damn cheap.

(For Zelda: OoT US V1.2.) Getting the effects was only half the fun. When you pull out the hookshot the game loads its code from ROM to wherever in memory is available, so it ends up in a different place in each level. I had to hack the load-from-ROM routine to patch the hookshot code on the fly. Technically the chain isn't endless (I tried that but it just made a lot of bugs), but is about 2,521 times longer than the Longshot, plenty enough to grab onto anything in sight. It'd take about an hour for the chain to fully extend so yeah. Of course if you miss (or the polygon you aimed for isn't solid) you can just hit a C button to abort.
The last line just makes the aiming dot always visible, even when you aim at the sky. (You can't grab the sky though, heh.)
Navigating the game using only a hookshot is fairly amusing. ![]() (restricted) | (restricted) | | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
