That's not what I meant. When my keyboard hook is called it's being told that Insert is pressed. I want it to still be told that Num0 is pressed.

I don't think many people know about that feature, and since it doesn't allow extended ASCII (does it? ) or assigning multiple characters to one value (eg 0x23 = "RED"), plus the tedious process of creating the character map, most people probably just use another editor.

Costing money doesn't make a program better. Hex Workshop has a few annoying bugs. Hell, Windows is pretty expensive.

Pokémon's AI is simple: Use random attacks. If health is low in a trainer battle, use a Full Restore. Repeat until player gets annoyed and turns the game off.

I always wanted to try answering in Japanese and trying to convince them they'd somehow been connected to the wrong line and were paying huge long distance charges. See how fast they hang up.

Also, if they ask to speak to the man/woman of the house, get a dog to bark into the phone or something.

They just keep talking anyway ._. (Yesu, I tried it..) It was like..

Me: Moshi moshi.. (Hello..)
Them: Umm, hello ma'm, could you answer a couple of questions?
Me: Kore wa nani?! Dare desu ka?! (What is this?! Who are you?!)
Them: If you would just take a moment to answer--
Me: Iie! Chotto matte yo! (No! Wait a second!)
Them: Ma'm this will only--
Me: KUTABARE! (F*ck off!)
Them: I..I...*click*

._.;;

No, the trick is after one or two sentences, you pretend to go get someone who speaks English, and have them say "this is Mitsubishi Motors" or some such with a Japanese accent. Try to convince them they actually called a place in Japan, not just a person who speaks the language.

That's not entirely true. Money is most important, but a good corporation might make some small sacrifices to make people happy. Hell, if you're not making people happy, you're not going to make much money. People don't like to buy from companies they don't like, that's why I don't buy Sony products anymore.

The only thing you can really do is try. Make a backup and apply the patch. If everything still works, good. Otherwise, don't use that patch (or if you can, go in manually and move the data around).

You could probably create a Moving Dragon Coin sprite that follows the platform with Sprite Tool. Both that and adding screens would need a lot of ASM work though.

Can't you change which level a tile leads to with events? If not, then ziratha's idea sounds like the way to go. You don't even need a loop, just use whatever tile would connect the two path pieces before and after the level.

Posted on 07-22-06 11:32 PM, in How can I balance SMW's gameplay? Link
Good level design with the occasional small tweak. Flying through levels can be prevented by putting obstacles in the air; maybe you could make Mario still take damage if he gets hit in flight, and just put a lot of enemies in the air. Fireballs could be hacked to not spawn coins when you kill things, and stronger enemies such as Chargin' Chuck prevent players from just running full speed smashing Y. Making only Super Mario capable of the Spin Jump, using stronger enemies, or putting Mario in crowded areas that make it difficult to use, would help stop that from being abused. Finally, Yoshi can just be made harder to get and/or easier to lose (lots of cliffs for him to fall off, or disable the Process When Off-Screen flag so he disappears when he gets away). You could even do it like in Donkey Kong Country where you lose him at the end of the level, using No Yoshi Blocks.

Ooh, I just thought of something to fix that, and it'd probably be easy to do. Hack the textbox code so that the first line of a box begins one line up, writing overtop of the border. Then you could just write your text like this:
OLD GUY
What's that sonny?

And it'd show his name on the border itself, and the text on the first line, like on the screen where you choose your name. The only potential problem, which still probably wouldn't be hard to fix, is that the text might start there again after a page break. (Simple workaround: Put a single-line break after each one. )

*Adds that to his Official List Of Hacks To Make For G/S If I Ever Find A Working Game Boy Debugger*

Yeah, I might be able to fix it. If not, I guess I'll have to work on a GBC emu for the DS that can run the game at full speed.

I found something fun, though. I dug out this old Mega Memory Card, which backs up saves from GB games. It had this really, really old Silver save on it, and I was able to restore it to the cartridge, then power off and on again really fast and play it despite the lack of a battery. The clock even kept time, except it was set to 14:50 PM.

[edit] Hah! I found where the broken connector leads, stuck a wire in, and connected the battery to it. It works, so long as I hold the battery in place with my finger. I just need to find some way of keeping it there.

Sheep in the Big City was potentially the best cartoon ever made. Are they still making new episodes? It hasn't been on here in ages.

Anyway I watch various cartoons, whatever's on. As long as it's not poorly-dubbed animé (in other words, I don't watch YTV anymore).

Screw laces. Slip-ons are faster and don't come untied while you're walking. The last pair of shoes I had with laces, I had to triple-knot them to keep them from coming undone.
