Ah, the n00biness... I suggest the first time the editor is run, it pops up a BIG message box saying something like this:


1) This version of the editor can only move and/or swap the dynamic/2D objects found in levels, swap (NOT EDIT) music, and rearrange warps. It can NOT edit the level polygons itself, add or edit powerups, characters, music, graphics, models, ASM, or create new levels.

2) Do NOT ask the author or Acmlm's Board for ROMs.


At least a message like that might weed out a few 'tards. For the beta you might even say not to ask how it works or something along those lines.

I've heard (but not confirmed) that there's a list of game titles in the ISO somewhere, apparently listing games that either it can run or that they had planned to port. It included Wave Race 64, and I think Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64. Anyway it's just a generic N64 emulator, they developed it enough that it could run OoT, then added 8MB support and considered it to be compatible with MM, and released it. It has some compatibility problems, but it does what it's meant to do, for the most part.

I agree with this. It's a good editor, sometimes crashes after saving (but saves OK) but otherwise pretty nice. It does support a form of tables, but only using its own proprietary format that doesn't allow multiple characters per byte. The Structure Viewer, however, is really useful.
