I envy you so much. Seriously. Either it's really hard to find in Montreal or... well... it's because the French prefer Pepsi to Coke.

If what you're looking for is an apology, then I will apologize because you did get me, and I'm willing to admit my mistake by not knowing that wavelength is measured in nanometres.

In the future, however, I'd very much appreciate it if you didn't decide to taunt me over AIM about stuff like this by calling me an "idiot". Thank you.

OK, apology accepted.

This thread can get back on track to solving the problems now I suppose. Sorry for the little blip.

Yow, that IS bad.

But then again, each of those posts had content. I can think of faaaaaaaaar worse examples.

No, I meant people who did that with an average of 5-10 words a reply.

Which may or may not refer to people in this thread.

Our IOC's expectations are for Canada to get 25 medals. That might be a bit lofty but you never know. Look at this stat...

"This season, Canada has been second only to winter sports superpower Germany in medals won on the various World Cup circuits from alpine skiing to snowboarding and speed skating."

That's because we're pumping a LOT of money into the programs since after Torino is Vancouver. We want a REALLY good showing there, and might as well start preparations now.

Off the top of my head... Women's hockey is an automatic medal. Men's hockey and men's/women's curling are quite possible. Beckie Scott (cross-country) won the gold (after two Russians got nailed for doping) last time around and she's improved since then so she's got a real chance. Pierre Lueders (bobsled) is always a threat, as are Cindy Klassen (speed skating), Jennifer Heil (moguls) and Jasey-Jay Anderson (snowboarding). Plus, as mentioned, our ski team has really improved and usually gets at least one podium a week now.

25 might be a bit much but I'd be happy with 20.

In the SNES days, importing was the HEIGHT of cool. Trust me; if you were willing to pay $100+ in Chinatown for a game, you were cool. (And an idiot too since emulation kicked in come the end of high school.)

Eh... to be honest, Alastor vs. KATW was the likely final. I think I was told that (in the past) it was a competitive matchup. :\

(Yay, thread's calming down! )

Well, the same thing could be said for caffeine. I can think of people on this board who... well... take in a fair amount of coffee or sodas each day. :\ Then again, soda never calms me down or anything. It just tastes so yummy.

It makes sense though. And to be honest, some questions that I can figure out in a minute might take someone hours or days.

Xk needs to make a script like that. It's not a perfect representation, mind you, but it would probably be a good tool to figure out who the best posters are or who's just so frigging wordy all the time.

OK, let's build an AcmlmWiki.

Um... I started the ACS in 2002 just for fun to see who posted consistently over a period of a month. Someone could have the most posts in a month but not the most posts each day, of course. I think I told one or two people about it and then they twisted my arm to post it for curiosity's sake, and there we go. Of course, some boards ended up copying it... without permission... pricks. (Hi Erk!)

The contest thing... meh. Some people value it for more than it is.

Oh, they CAN be. The problem is that not everyone who's told to improve... well... improves. :\ Or people just can't be bothered to learn proper spelling/type "you" instead of "u".

*changes title*

I... somehow don't think that the Voting Rights Act would die. Come on. To do something like that would cause unspeakable harm. Plus only certain parts of it are up for renewal, not the whole act itself.

And then create a .php page for said command, yes.

High overall would PROBABLY mean a good poster because it would show that said person puts a lot of thought into their posts or stops to explain things. Or they just like the English language.

Well, at least if someone took time to talk about an opinion, even if it's a bad one... it's better than just saying "stupid Bush" or something like that.

Is there a way to sort it by posts made as well?

I'm a little surprised at the results but they are a bit skewed with people who've made less than 100 posts.

Trapster actually predicted a tie a few days ago... *shrugs* We'll see.

Danielle: YES. I think that only lasted until March or April of 2002 though... then it was agreed that one thread a month would likely suffice. That was probably around the time I became a full mod, although I think it was a little after...
