Hah. Reminds me; in my literature class we were reading Twelth Night, and I was the clown. I was rocking out, because when I hit the guy's singing parts I actually broke into song, and nobody could tell I was winging it.
...then one of his lines was "What is love?" and I switched to that song's tune. I think I was the first person in the history of reading Shakespeare aloud in English classes to get a standing ovation.


Back to the original poster:
Love is a state of being where whenever a certain person is around you, whatever sad feelings you have become lessoned and whatever happy feelings you have will square themselves.

It's also prefaced by a distinct falling sensation. When you're thinking about some fine young lad or lass and how much you like them and you suddenly feel like you fell a few feet, check if you fell out of your chair. If you didn't, you're probably in love.

Rather than sharing a specific messed up dream I've had, I'm going to give you a few messed up traits that show up in a lot of my dreams.

-- Re-used settings. Most buildings and whatnot of my dreams are chunks of a few buildings from real life, mix-matched and put against one another. You'd think this'd look odd, but it isn't on account of...
-- Tileset swapping. You ever play with a map editor that let you change tilesets midway through making a map? My dreams look like someone did that -- I'll have dreams where my (red brick and white tile) school is made of limestone blocks and sand.
-- Point of view. My dreams are not always first person -- they can be first person, over-the-shoulder, third person, birds-eye, side-view, or worse.
-- Multiple points of view. I can have more than one point of view at the same time. Not just switching, just... I can see out my own eyes and from the point of view of a bird at the same time.
-- HUDs. I have had dreams with mini-maps.
-- Sequence breaking. I sometimes do parts of my dreams out of order, and then have classic sequence breaking moments like finding the mayor of the town sitting in his house on a calm day and running around panicking about the town burning down at the same time.

When I said 2^x, I guess I should've specified that x = a whole number .
Whole numbers are only special because we arbitrarilly chose to use a whole-number based system because our minds are too weak to properly handle partial numbers.

If you stay home for the summer, will you do something that makes you feel more prepared to go?

If the extra summer isn't going to make you more ready to head off, you might as well head off now. If it's going to make you more ready, you're going to need to think about it more. Though you should think about how you listed "leave sooner" as a benefit all of its own. It seems quite telling.

Everything works better when you're feeling more confident. It's hard as heck to get there in the first place, but once you trust in your abilities, things will always work better for you.

On the bright side, being confident doesn't have to be with just one specific thing -- yes, you can be confident in your abilities as a baker and completely unsure in your abilities as a brain surgeon, but the more confidence you have at one thing, the more you will have at everything else in general.

So you can practice confidence by doing something completely different. Personally, I have two completely different recomendations:
-- Take a weekend off to go hit the clubs at the next town over. Nothing builds confidence like flirting with people you've never met.
-- Take a martial art. Nothing builds confidence like knowing how to kill a man with your bare hands.

I was going to do a hack with one single extremely large level. Metroid-style, with the exploring and the whatnot. The switch palace blocks were going to be the only ones with items in them, so you had to find the giant switches throughout the level to get mushroom, fire, and cape power. That, combined with a rather centrally located midpoint, were going to make the game playable despite the single-level design.

I even had the entire level/game plotted out on graph paper, so the entire thing would make spatial sense and whatnot.

I was also going to make it a lot less overtly Mario-y. Like they did with all the Mario RPG and Paper Mario games and whatnot. Cut down on the goombas and other things we've seen a thousand times, and replace them with the cliches we'd expect anywhere else, which seem surprising and fresh when mixed with Mario.

Gents: How do you wear your facial hair? And how fast does it grow?

Myself, because not answering your own questions in your own threads is lame
I try to keep clean-shaven, but it's a royal pain because mine grows perposterously fast. I have a five o'clock shadow on the best of days, usually much earlier. And when the weather's cooling I can't keep a clean shaven for over four hours. On the bright side, I left it growing this week and I think the girl I like kinda likes it.

The best restaurant is, hands-down, the Joy Luck Emperor on Main Street of Annapolis, Maryland, USA. Eat their chicken tempura, it is godly. (mind you, I haven't been there in ages, and it could have changed) ((also mind you, tempura is always godly so it's hardly fair))

Going for fast-food chains, which makes more sense on a forum with people from all over the bloody place, my favorites are Wendy's, Subway, and Popeye's. Wendy's is good because their food is actually food, unlike most fast food places. Subway is great even though I only ever order a cheese sandwich there. Popeye's is good for two things: their biscuits are awesome, and some of the stores in the chain sell spicy bites. Spicy bites are the best fast-food chicken you can eat. Mind you, our local Popeye's stopped selling spicy bites when the Indian family who used to work there sold it, and I'm pretty sure they were putting some extra spices in there beyond what was called for by the chain, so your mileage may vary.

I don't really know the game in question so I'm doing this from vague memories and screenshots.

Get an image of a horizontal slice of road. Draw it full-sized at your current location. Draw a second copy scaled down a bit farther out. Draw another, smaller one farther. Keep going for some number of road slices.

Keep track of how far forward you've moved so far and where the track is supposed to turn at that point. Move each slice to the side based on how the course is supposed to turn.


Psuedocode follows:

track = {0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,1,1,1,1,1,1,0,0,0,0,0,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,0,0,0,0,0,1,2,2,2,2,1,0}
x = 0
y = screenHeight
height = 20
for position = carposition to arbitraryNumber
drawRoad(x,y,imageWidth,height)
height = height - 1
x = x + track[position]
y = y - height
end for


In this example, the array track represents the amount of turning the track has at any given point, and the function drawRoad(x,y,width,height) draws a horizontal slice of road at (x,y) with width width and height height.

For reference: I'm absolutely crazy about the girl in this scenario and have been for three years. In less than two weeks a whole bunch of stuff happens and, while I think I could hold onto a relationship with her through it all, I will not get to be with her if nothing has happened by then.

Anyway, she's sending mixed signals like crazy and I desperately need help figuring this out. Random events from this week that prove how mixed her signals are getting follow.

Tuesday:
Her: Wow, it's getting hot. I'm going to have to start wearing shorter skirts.
Me: I'm sorry I'll be missing it.
Her: Oh, that's right, you're not going to be here tomorrow. I'll have to wait until Thursday.
(she wore a much longer skirt on Wednessday and a much shorter one on Thursday)
When I mentioned her doing this on Thursday, she said something about how the skirt she was wearing was two layers, then hiked it up really high so I could see her thighs to prove her point

Yesterday I was about to sign off my messanger because there was a lightning storm outside, and she told me to stay.

She's only ticklish in three spots, and each is only known by one person. I've found two of those spots this week. This morning when I was trying to tickle her, she kept telling me not to. And then giving me a hint when I was about to give up.

Today, I was petting the back of her head for some reason or another, and she hissed at me, then I tried again and she told me to stop in a tone that didn't sound as playful. There was an awkward silence for a while, and the next conversation we had she started talking about how strange the word "kiss" sounded.


...help?

I was confused because she's never really seemed interested before, and always batted me away.

(As for the worst that can happen, well, I have asked her before, quite a long time ago, and that never worked. And while the fear of rejection has never been a problem to me with other girls (you lose that fear after a while in Improv (and trust me, you win the "most awkward moments" contests after a while in Improv too)), it's nearly paralyzing with this one. Ah well, I'm going to lose her if I don't do something so fear's a pretty damn dumb idea.)
