90% of everything is crud.

A harder to use editor doesn't fix this, it just makes there be less of everything in the first place.

It's a shame so many people have trouble using EggVine. I did my best to make the interface as easy to use as possible, but doing the graphics stuff was just beyond me at the time.

I'm not touching the program again, as I don't use VB anymore (and something was wrong with my latest backup of the source anyway). I have tried to write a sequal a few times in Java, but never got very far, which is a shame, as the new interface would've blown everything else out of the water (if anyone wants to know how to make an editor for an object-based game with a GUI that doesn't suck, ask me about it). But the chances of me ever getting to work on EV again are very small. Sorry folks. I hope someone else steps up though, that'd be pretty nifty.

Oh, wait! Does anyone remember back when the program was first made? My initial reason for doing it? I was trying to get this guy who had a 14 page thread on this YI editor he was supposedly making to get off his bum and actually code something. What ever happened to him?

I did all of a Joust clone entirely in three hours' worth of lulls in work at my job yesterday (so, like, 20 minutes). I know VB, javascript, Java, C, and some other crud that I'm forgetting. Can I do logic coding?

Yeah, I've done a good number of platformers. I can pull out my old terrain generation demo for you if you'd like an example, it was a platformer.

I've never done AI for a 3D game, but I have done plenty of hefty AIs and I don't really see why being in 3D would make it harder.

How do you know that the feat was pleasurable for the human or possible without the aide of force-feilds?

(In the Star Treck world, do they use ship-style sheilding instead of condoms?)

Kinda strange with the masochist squirrels there, Snowy. Everyone who's ever met a squirrel knows they'd be sadists.

I don't care for furries, but my ladyfriend looks unbearably cute in cat ears. But she looks unbearably cute all the time so that's nothing new.

In theory, we put dogs to sleep to spare them a slow and painful death. But yes, we still don't do that for humans. I guess we must just like dogs better.

We can't treat a freshly-fertilized egg as a human being. Sure, it's a unique and irreplacable creation. So is every thing that has ever existed and ever will exist. There is no chair exactly like the one you are sitting on. There is no tree exactly like the one that was chopped down to make your desk. ...And do you ever eat meat?

You have to draw the line for what you're going to protect somewhere, and there are only three places distinct enough to warrant consideration:
--Everything
--Everything living
--Everything thinking

I suggest you don't pick anything less specific than "everything thinking", because otherwise you're going to be having an aweful hard time finding something to eat.

The human embryo doesn't begin developing a brain until the fifth week. I think four weeks is enough to realize that you're pregnant and decide to abort. Why not have abortions during that period?

On a completely different note: I'm all in favor of abstinence-first sexual education with a strong backing of methods we can actually convince people to do. And while I think abstinience is obviously the best method, every time a Christian claims it is a 100% effective method of birth control, I fall over laughing. Think about it... (Hint: I only laugh when a Christian says it.)

People who make it far in the world ignore people who talk in marquee tags.

This is universal, no matter what language you program in.

I sent you a PM with my contact information, but got no response. AIM no good for you?

And yeah folks, just 'cause somebody took the part that most people find rediculously hard, doesn't mean the rest is taken!

People have often tried to make fun of my name. And nobody ever gets farther than "squish". It's a disgrace.

Going from thread posters and currently active users:

Ailure -- Failure
Alastor -- The Last Dor(k)
Cruel Justice -- Dueling Puss Stains?
Thoughtless -- Your name describes you quite well, sir.

See that comma in your sentence? The gramatically correct punctuation mark there would've been the semi-colon.

The problem isn't that you can do it in ASM instead, and the problem isn't that you can't put it on the real system anymore.

The problem is that when you do something like that, you're not ROM hacking anymore.

If you're going to use the limits of your computer rather than the limits of the system, why are you programming for that system? Why not just program for the computer?

This hack is pretty groovy, I congratulate you.

Don't particularly like the new physics, but they're plenty playable and I'm not having any major problems with that. I think I'm just bitter because you took away the nearly infinate freedom I'm used to. Which was a good idea on your part, darn you.

I don't particularly like guessing where grey doors will open up. I don't suppose there was some way you could've tinted them or something, eh?

And I think you could've stood to make more shotcuts open up as you get farther into the game. Especially near the beginning, where you have to run all the way across the world with each item you get, it'd be nice if there were some more direct routes back and forth opened up with each new layer of items.

Just got the power bombs, then got stuck in a whole lot of places where I should've had the high jump or space jump or something due to wall-jump skill and persistance with the ice beam. You know that the ceiling-hugging side-hoppers and desgeegas are pretty much free tickets to go wherever you want in a room once you get the icebeam, right? (So far that's just gotten me out of the bowels of Brinstar, dunno if I was supposed to have gotten out of there yet)

I can see how people would be confused by where to go in this game. The whole sequence down to the power-bombs felt like it couldn't possibly be where I was supposed to be heading. Bigtime sequence breakers will have trouble telling when they're heading past your first few layers of dead-ends for people who don't have the right items yet, and people who've never done it before will get freaked out when they hit things like Norfair.

Still an awesomely groovy hack, though. I don't suppose we can make thirty or so clones of you and get one of these released every month, eh?

I can whip up a platformer engine in about a half hour, and I can whip up some online functions to most things in about an hour.

Doing them both together and well would require a few days of hard work.

If you find another programmer and need help with something particularly complicated, I'll gladly help. Otherwise, I really don't have the time to be the lead programmer on a project like this.

And besides, I have a very well fleshed-out Metroid MMORPG floating through my head already, I don't think I have room for two.

I believe that banana will find that banana if I replace banana fourth word of banana sentance with the banana banana, you'll still banana what I'm saying banana.

That is to banana, not only is banana as old as banana internet, but it's banana even all that banana.

Has anyone managed to get the lyrics down? I know a good deal of Latin, should be able to translate, but can't get a word of what they're saying. Muttery dastards.

In other news: three of the new characters are unbelievably awesome (and two of them are hot, to boot). This game is going to rock.
