Um, so, anyone remember a few years ago when Half-Life 2 was in a development limbo approaching that of Duke Nukem Forever and everyone was making fun of it? Then out of nowhere, Valve Software released a demo and everyone went from making fun of them to slobbering over the anticipated release?

I think Roxor just released their version of said demo. I mean, fuck, I might actually have to drop the $30 on ITG PC now (Plus $XX for a reliable way to hook my CF up to a PC...apparently there's no one magical adapter for this).

....well played, Roxor Games, well played. And you all know I don't praise Roxor (As opposed to their game) lightly.

So today was my last day as a temp working for Webster Bank as a Document Control person. Beginning Tuesday, I'll work for them full-time as a Junior IT Analyst. I'll tell you what this entails in Phantasy Star II no-words-can-have-more-than-four-letters style.

MPTI got HUGE RAZE.
MPTI got BNFT PCKG.
MPTI got PDTM OFF.

Suffice to say I'm excited and extremely nervous too.

Heh, yeah, that's paid time off. I guess I could've fully spelled out the words in hindsight. Oh well.

But yeah, that's what it is. Instead of sick days, personal days, and other kinds of days, I get a chunk of time called Paid Time Off that I se for all of those purposes.

Somewhat scarily, other than that little detail (Which I actually knew but figured wasn't important...additionally, I wasn't sure if Ball Lightning was ever printed in a set that called Haste Haste...if that makes any sense), and the omission of its mana cost, I did in fact get the stats of the card right.

And like NSNick, I haven't played Magic in years and years.

RANDOM FUN FACT: Playing ITG2 in an arcade and not having to feel a sense of dread whenever a right arrow comes up (Because you never know whether the pad will register your step or not) is like the greatest thing ever.

On the other hand, I think excessive home version playing has gotten me into a habit that's going to be hard to break at this point--whenever I get a non-Fantastic step, it's almost invariably because I step early.

EDIT: I broke down and ordered ITGPC and a USB converter. Well done Roxor Games, I do almost nothing but bash you and you STILL get me to order your game.

I'm torn in this ALCS.

On one hand, there are the Tigers, having a magical season, slaying the "evil empire" Yankees and all of that.

On the other hand, there are the Athletics, who I want to win because it will make baseball's Old Guard and 90% of sports analysts crap themselves.

Hmm.

Yeah, isn't shooting and killing Bowser with fireballs much faster than going towards him and becoming small?

No.

And yeah, an SMB speedrun fanatic will notice mistakes both unintentional and semi-"intentional" (The only pipe outside of warps that actually gains you real-time speed is the one in 1-1), presumably for the sake of the exhibition.

Still cool though.

Some old-school (Apparently circa 2003) YouTube goodness for you. JSB's foot control is absolutely astounding in this video, especially on the end runs.

In other news, my CF seems to be on the fritz. I'll wait and see if the problem goes away on its own, and if not, well, I'll have to do some investigation I guess.

Ask a stupid question...
