Wow, that's pretty cool.
And yeah, the "wrote the code, changed their minds, but never bothered removing the original code" theory makes sense. The Intellivision game Astrosmash (I think) has something similar; it was originally supposed to be two games (You would've chosen which game to play via a menu), but for some reason got cut down to one. Rather than remove the code for the second game, the programmer simply put in some code that bypassed the selection screen and took you to what we know today as Astrosmash. (restricted) |

Princess Bride is good stuff and all, but what about another Rob Reiner movie, This Is Spinal Tap?
(After a concert where Spinal Tap have been humiliated because "[They] had a Stonehenge in danger of being trampled by dwarves!"; their manager produces Nigel Tufnel's original sketch-on-a-napkin of the prop in question, which clearly shows 18" instead of the proper 18') David St. Hubbins: "Yes, but you're not an confused as Nigel is! IT'S NOT YOUR JOB to be as confused as Nigel is!" And other classic scenes; getting lost backstage, getting stuck in the pod, and the list goes on. RANDOM FUN FACT: During one Marty DiBergi interview where they're discussing reviews of Spinal Tap albums, David St. Hubbins remarks "I've never heard that one before." in response to one of the reviews. Michael McKean (Who played St. Hubbins) actually hadn't heard it before; it was ad-libbed for that take.

So I played at an arcade for the first time yesterday.
I now see why the ITG2 cabinets at any given Namco arcade are lovingly refered to as "crapocabs". In any event, you can see the results from that here. Nothing overly impressive, especially in relation to my Home GrooveStats, though it's worth noting that my Typical Tropical Hard score was good for Machine Record #1.

Don't forget that a lot of those "extra RPGs" never saw official release in the first place in the US.
ALSO: You'll note that a lot of the same people that complain that "The series is going downhill, why don't they make games more like (Insert their favorite FF title here)?" then turn around and complain that "There are too many remakes, why aren't they doing something different?" Squeenix (lololol) are really damned if they do, damned if they don't. As a fun aside, if we presume that my "favorite" games in the series are the ones I've played through more than once (In various forms), then that honor would go to two games in particular: IV...and the original. Whoops, so much for "The original hasn't aged well".... And for the record, my opinion of "FFVI is an incredible half a game" continues to stand. EDIT: That's an interesting filter. Hasn't captcha basically been defeated at this point? I thought I read something about that.
ALSO: A lot of low-stakes online poker players actually make decent money just on bonuses from various sites and solid play. Sign up, deposit the maximum that you can get a bonus for, play just enough to clear said bonus, go to another site and repeat.

I just have to make a statement.
I find it highly amusing that the "elite" community (By which I mean "those good enough to get OMES") as a whole has grown so dependent on high speed mods that Konami decided REGULATION PLAY (outside of Sudden Death) was acceptable for the OMES. Oh, and for one of the betas, the timing windows were apparently tightened to a ridiculous degree (As someone said, getting a Perfect was about the equivilant of getting a Marvelous on Extreme, and getting a Marvelous on SN was nigh impossible). Then they were loosened again. Also, the AA criteria apparently changed slightly as well. Might head down to an arcade this weekend depending on whether they have ITG2 or not. That's all, carry on.

Bit of a bump, but whatever, it's on the first page.
I'm going with "no", though I'll step up and say that St. Anger isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. In fact, take away Lars's "trash cans for toms and a steel chair for a snare" drum sound and I'd say that actually elevates it to somewhere between "good" and "great" status. Even with the terrible production on the drums, though, it's still better than the Load albums. The impression I got with St. Anger was "Not as good as Kill em All through ...and Justice, but at least they're trying again...."

Ooh, speed mod discussion.
On DDR "proper", there's almost no logic to my speed mod choices. I'll do So Deep on X2, then The Shining Polaris on X1, then Tsugaru on X2, and so on. On ITG, I try to get into about the 300-330BPM range reading-wise. This usually involves X2 or X2.5.

Man, Connecticut is the worst state for dance games ever.
Also, I changed the topic title to more accurately reflect the discussion inside. If anyone objects, I can always change it back, or Hiryuu could always do it himself.

cpubasic: If you're gonna get a Flux, or any hard mat really, you're (probably) going to want to build a base for it to rest on if you're going to play on carpet. Reason being that carpets are inherently uneven, and an uneven surface = |
for a hard mat.
Just a note. @Valcion: I've heard nothing but good things about the place, but I think it's a bit far from my house at the moment. I'd have to check and make sure though.

Why Me Expert isn't too bad either, just as a note. Ignore my awful terrible score on my GrooveStats, which isn't working right now anyway.
Oh, and D-Code Expert. SO NOT A 10.

I STILL find it highly amusing that the PSP's most touted feature continues to be "It plays its' competition's games really really well." (restricted) | | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
