I don't get out of the SMW hacking forum too much, but I'd have to say some of my favorites are NSNick, Alastor, Grey, Peter_ac, and BMF. Otherwise I'd have to say,
the board is dependent on everyone, it needs idiots, and n00bs, and people who find totally random stuff and make a thread of it. And all together we all make one big happy family....... One big happy disfunctional family

I have to agree with the previous posts, it could be something offical if I didn't know better. And about that overworld, it looks great, except for the levels on the very edge of the cliff. If you moved those inland it would look a ton better, and got rid of some of those arrows, they're crowding the space.

I was going to do that myself, but I'm not sitting next to a grammar book, and I have no idea how they work.

It was quite amusing, it was back when I used to play runescape, so I was in mid game when it broke, "I'llbebackinasecond, thespacebarjustbroke" Good times...

As the topic states, I'm having trouble finding out how to create new forums. I have already uploaded the needed files to funpic, and ran the .sql, now I am faced with the aforementioned problem. (If the info's needed, I'm using acmlmboard verison DES) I feel I should already know this...

Demo World is not a n00b hack. It's complete, it has heavy graphical editing (and not too shabby, either) and even asm hacks. Its level design is seriously lacking... for a hack of that calibur. It had some bad mistakes, but it had so much put into it that "n00b hack" or even "practically n00b hack" doesn't do it justice. For many hacks Demo World's level design would be an improvement.

No, I haven't seen many hacks these days better than Demo World. I haven't seen any hacks as good, for that matter, except for the exceptional Super Mario Odyssey and Mario's Return. And those are both demos.

He didn't specify tlc... otherwise I do have to agree with most of what you said. Except that their are more hacks outdoing tlc then you mentioned, for example, the Panic in the Mushroom Kindom hacks.

At my house, there are approx.
5 spare keyboards,
4 spare processors (pentium 2)
'bout 10 sticks of ram,
and at least 7 disk drives, (none of them are re-writable though )
4 sets of speakers,
3 monitors
and 2 gfx cards.

Yep, my house is loaded with old computer parts.

K, as anyone who read my last thread knows, I'm using acmlmboard version DES, well as I started looking through it, I noticed it didn't have a .sql file with it, figuring that DES is basicly 1.92 on steroids, I stole the .sql file from that. Then I noticed it was missing Install.php so I stole that from 1.8. And now my board won't work, I was wondering if anyone has links to the original files I need. Thanks...

http://www.xeons.net/acmlm_versions/acmlmboard_1.8r2_DES.zip That's DES, I downloaded it cause I heard it was stable like 1.92, just minus the security problems, and with a few added features.

Perhaps I'm crazy, but all I see here is impossible to judge level design (but a preliminary analysis makes it seem mediocre) and some poor to decent use of borrowed ExGFX and palettes. This is good... How? It looks like every other crap hack out there

Umm... have you seen his other hacks? When compared to those... This is godly.

Umm... I provided a direct link to where I got it from. (And for the record, I believe it was Vagla, Parasyte, and Weasel) A link to my board would be unnesacery(sp?) as all you get is a mysql error...

Umm, you CAN open savestates in YY-CHR, but all you get is garbage (unless the game has no compression, in which case you wouldn't need to rip it from a savestate) You neeed to use BGmapper177 (search http://www.zophar.net/ a bit) and after you have the program open hit "0" then select "export Vram graphics" after you've done that, open the resulting file in MSpaint, (or Paint shop pro) and copy and paste the standard size GFX\ExGFX file into a copy of an existing GFX\ExGFX file (not allgfx obviously) then insert it into lunar magic, then to rip the pallete, open a second instance of Lunar magic, and import the savestate from which you ripped the gfx, then locate which pallete the BG uses, and use the ctrl+click feature to copy from one instance of Lunar magic to the other. Now just map out you background on an empty map16 page and you're done. (I know it may sound confusing, but after you get the hang of it, it's really quite easy)
