I finally got around to setting this up and playing it. I only had ZSNES 1.42 and a PAL ROM before. This hack is GREAT! The walljump takes some getting used to, but once you've got it down I think it's easier than the original physics.
I'd also like to mention that this DOES work in the more recent ZSNES WIPs.
Great work!

Well, I did the hell run, looking for the varia. I bombed everywhere in the shaft near the elevator. The only place I can see would need an infinite bomb jump. There's another place around where the killer plants and heavy spikes are, i can't quite jump high enough, can't walljump, and there's nothing to freeze. a bomb jump might work here too.
Where's the varia?
EDIT: Nevermind, found it. pika's post on page 46 did it. Tricky.

I think I'm the first to ask this- where are the lost caverns? i've looked at all the dead ends i can solve, and i think i found the entrance to tourian, but the only maridia entrances have one-way super missile gates.
Also, do the reflectors from the acid room show up anywhere else in this hack? thosse were cool!

I kinda meant how do you *get to* the lost caverns. everyone seems to find it with no problem. the only places i could go are filled with water so i can't reach the doors. do i need to trigger an event to open a grey door so i can pass?
EDIT: i had loaded the wrong state. i have the spazer too.

WOW! Just finished, with

And I freed the animals

This hack is so awesome, thanks Drew for this reminiscence of the good old Super Metroid days!
The good things:
Physics changes
Equipment hacks
Reflector
Level design
Metroid bombardment
The ship at the end
The animals at the end
Forcing players to conserve their Super Missiles
Forcing players to carefully choose beams rather than slap everything on at once
Things destroying the blocks
Lots of other small details!

The things that could be improved:
Varia is way too hard to find
Odd things like reflectors are totally foreign, need explanation in readme
More rooms with reflectors! There's only one in the whole game? C'mon!(remembers Kuribo's Shoe in SMB3...)
The bug in Riley's room
Most hidden tunnels aren't visible with X-Ray Scope...
Less of those giant sidehoppers that pop out and randomly molest you! Those things take off like a whole energy tank in a hit!

Overall, this is THE BEST hack I have ever played, and I'm disappointed there won't be another. Excellent work with this masterpiece! It's one of those few hacks actually worthy of being password protected...
Thank you
