This thread's title is a good example how you shouldn't do it. It was nondescriptive of your problem and all-caps with excess exclamation marks.

Okay, I actually bothered to go through this byte-by-byte and figured there was no trace of any custom assembly code besides what LM already adds in.

The palettes are glitchy, as are the levels themselves. I do not see a trace of a single assembly modification there. $100.000 says this is just another attention whore, in other words, this thread is hereby being NOOBHAMMER'd.

Don't even think posting about that thing again unless you PM me and show me PROOF of any of your so-called leethax skillorz.

I tend to use "SNES professional asm development kit", which effectively is just a GUI editor for assembly code... it sucks and anything, but it is capable of recompiling changes on-the-fly, which is good.

Besides, I am working on my own dis-/reassembler which I am likely going to use once it is done.

Whether or not the hack is good or bad, the title was unnecessary. As if somebody who already made his way here as a minor could be helped by not being shown that anymore.

And I honestly don't see why everybody went so crazy about your ripoffs.

Seriously though, SMO received appreciation because it was one of the few hacks released that were good in nearly all aspects one could think of... assembly modifications en masse, awesome graphics and level design.

Back on topic... I wonder how hard it would be to (ab-)use the bubbles code to make small gameplay-irrelevant effects like sprites releasing puffs of smoke.

I really should get back into SMW hacking.

As you seem too bad at English to understand the proposal and your profile says your location is Germany, I will PM you with an explanation in German shortly.

I PMed him an explanation in German, which he replied with obvious google-translated to German crappy English.
From what I got, he's an "American" who moved to Germany.

On a further note, this thread sucks.

heh... I see.
The smallified -u- confused JWPCE, it seems... if I actually took my time to retype the word rather than using copy'n'paste, its kanji database would have likely led me to that result.

About nan/nani... did I understand you right that in cases where it should say "nan" rather than "nani", you don't use the kanji but spell it out?

Also, before desu and da, 2 of the Japanese coplar verbs (and possibly the other copular verbs too--I believe there are more), you use nan instead of nani. I'm sure you've often heard on anime where they say, nanda! That's an example of it.

But yes, do not mix kanji and hiragana spellings for compound words. If you don't know the kanji for a counter, for example, then when you make the number + counter, please spell out the whole thing, or it just doesn't look right (don't put kanji for the number and hiragana for the counter). Perhaps you can keep a list of kanji for the counters with you?

I have only seen three animes so far, and all of them upon a recommendation of the "you GOT to see that" type. But yeah, I guess I know what you are talking about.

The i is abandoned before particles as well, no? ("nan de")

One more thing has to be contributed to the thread itself though.

Posted on 06-19-06 11:47 AM, in Question about the SPC format Link
It is possible to convert MIDI to SPCs under certain circumstances... just, nobody has done an automated way to do so.
Either way, you'd have to cope with worse sample quality (unless you have one of those three-for-$10 mass market soundcards) and possibly have to get rid of excess channels that don't fit in the 8 channels SPC is limited to. Also, you'd have to write your own engine to handle the SPC700's DSP or try to modify your MIDI as to work with one of the few explored ones (as far as I know, that's only the N-SPC and SMW-N-SPC, and the latter only to a limited extent)

If anybody gave me some data on the MIDI format, I could at least give it a shot... I already made a Cave Story .ORG to N-SPC converter (which can be downloaded on my site) once.
