If you don't have anything to show, that was not enough to warrant an almost 2 week bump either. It would be of disputable sufficientness in contents for even a normal reply.

Don't bump old threads again unless you have something meaningful to contribute. Thanks.

Lufia 2 was awesome as well... though I didn't know nor find the Ancient Cave before playing it in an emulator. I used savestate loading twice in beating it, once when I tab-boosted through an unexpectedly tough battle and died and once when I miscalculated my step count on one of the lower floors with those really fast guys abundant.
Ancient Slime appreciated me as a great warrior for knowing when it's the right moment to commit seppuku, apparently.

I don't think I ever sang or whistled or anything in the shower... xD
However, I do get myself clean as the vast majority of the preceding posters; also, I sometimes get stuck up thinking about something (I always get the best computer-related ideas when I am not using it D: ) up to the point I realize I've been in the shower for over half an hour and wasted enough water to get an African village through a whole month of drought.

First off, this would better go into hack releases.

Secondly, add some screenshots and information instead of just linking to SMW central. If I don't see any changes within the next, say, 30 minutes, this thread is wandering into the bin.

edit: sigh, I guess you are too lazy to do it yourself... edited your post to contain screenshots. Also moved to the ROM hacking related releases.

If I recall correctly, Super Mario Kart uses the N-SPC engine. The only thing I remember about the particular data locations in it though is that the music data starts at 0xC000 in the SPC RAM, like it does in SMAS. Screw my bad memory... I just checked and found out SMK, in fact, uses a single-song system with the pattern pointers beginning at 0xD000 in SPC RAM/0xD100 in a headered dump. Rest of it appears to be native N-SPC though since SST loads it just fine.

I should see whether I can get Solar Soundtrack to load it.
- edit, it does with a little hax since there is no current native support for SMK's lack of a song table in the dumps (I had to trick it into believing there was one):

edit2 - I ought to point out the depicted song is SMK's Donut Plains theme.

The N-SPC format is not widely documented... as far as I can tell, the only three people who were working on it (with notable success) are me, MajinBlueDragon and DJBouche; DJBouche doesn't really care anymore since he moved on to remixing J-pop and MajinBlueDragon never was quite publicative about his work. Your best bet would be to search the three incarnations of Acmlmboard for information fragments posted or wait for me to release Solar Soundtrack (which is pretty much an universal N-SPC editor). Although, I said I once said I'd have it done within two weeks... that was, I believe, back in 2004.
Since I want to go to eat now and really am not in a mood for typing long rants about it, here's just format of the songs which appears to be common across all N-SPC games (which, on a side notes, are all SNES games Nintendo made themselves pretty much).

(SPC-700 pointers are 2 bytes and little-endian.)

Song table: list of pointers to songs, "open-end" - maps to internal song ID - absent in SMK

Song:
list of pointers to patterns, terminated with either 00 00 or FF 00; if the latter, FF 00 is followed by another pointer which points at the loop point of the song. Example: @D100 . 10 D1 20 D1 FF 00 02 D1 - two patterns at D110 and D120, repeat pattern D120 ad infinitum

Pattern:
array of eight track pointers (total length naturally 16 bytes) which map to the 8 DSP channels of the SPC-700.

Track:
music data

Hope this helps.

Now this really looks quite interesting to me. Am I right with my assumption that this is based off Neill Corlett's original English translation rather than the Japanese version?

Also, would you mind sending me a copy of it? I'd like to have a look and probably play around with it a little.

Give me the island that is where Australia would be on a generic Mercator projection map.

Call it OS-tan.

Make it a not too flashy, XP login screen style blue and give it huge anime eyes.

You may omit the last part if your drawing skills are lacking.

It mostly is curiosity. If I wanted to translate it to a language I know that it hasn't been translated to yet, it'd have to be Russian, and I don't have the time nor motivation to shoulder all the work going with that...

Without having ever done that particular thing, I dare say it would be very SMW engine specific, seeing as just making the sprite larger in OAM would be the easiest part of it... (the thing gained in process you could reuse for other projects is mostly knowledge on how these things work in general and a precedence case of how it is implemented in one particular game) you'd have to adapt all of the Mario animation code starting with things as simple as movement, but not limited to them, to the new sprite size, which would probably involve recoding the most of them. Then, there's collision detection, etc... yes, it'd be somewhere between "huge" and "not even worth it".

- "stupid and proud of it" people. This is topmost on my list for a reason.
- religious nuts trying to force their beliefs and moral schemes upon others
- any other people believing into something with religious zeal without questioning and doing the above
- programming bugs lacking any rational explanation
- AOL grammar, wrongly placed spaces, commata, apostrophes and what-not.
- Self-righteous people.
- People who can't take a joke on their account.
- narrow-mindedness/chauvinism/racism
- pretentious persons asking for something and acting like they have some sorts of birthright on being helped
- inobjectivity, bias
- my own inability to stay in schedules and consequently work on something
- overly credulous people (the kind who, after being shown a "terror barometer omg" on "red" for three days straight, will be psychically broken enough to accept the government installing a camera in their bathroom under the premise it helps catching terrorists)
- minor components that don't work like they should and consequently make the whole thing fail
- the fact I'm too lazy to come up with more points for this list

I'm sorts of amused by how many people list "being insulted as gay" in the one form or other. It can't be that bad, can it? Besides, there's plenty other frequently used insults with obvious sexual innuendo in the English language.

I bought a number of my SNES games off a friend's big brother in elementary school for 5DM each (which is like $3-4), each of them on the local playground.
Among them were Terranigma and the accursed Super Mario World.

You aren't understanding it correctly.

You would have to get the music data from SMB1 and then write a compatible music data player for the N64 platform; subsequently, you'd have to compile the latter, insert it and link it up with the game code.
No, nobody here is going to teach you that.

As for editing pointers, you would likely edit them in a hex editor. If you don't know what a pointer is, you probably are in the wrong forum/having set yourself the wrong goals. No offense, but you should know about pointers and the basics of programming before trying to get into hacking.
