Hmm.

Judging from these screenshots, the level design really does suck. There's mostly blocky, linear ledges, pipes and some few koopas here and there. Also, while would one want to see the bottom-right screenshot? Everybody knows how the yellow koopa from SMAS looks, so this is entirely and utterly pointless. I really would recommend you to drop two of your hacks and make one proper one instead. ![]()

I guess this is absolutely unnecessary, as it is (indirectly) linked by the newbie Q&A sticky. |

Hmm. I would rather plead for this going into basic SMW hacking... but oh well. |

Advanced SMW hacking is not the place for requests, but for actual discussion among the experienced ones. |

Whoa.

This feels more like an SNES game than NES, really. Both from graphics and gameplay. (And that is quite the best thing one can say about NES games. )
Still, I found some kind of bug... when playing as Mario, after I passed three levels, the passed level tile turned into Luigi's "L" tile
edit: Also, the Airship in the end of Mario World 1 is passable without being beaten.
Anyway, kudos. ![]() (edited by blackhole89 on 11-24-05 11:51 AM)

You should never, never, never post a hack announcement thread if you don't have any screenshots yet. The SMW hacking community has seen enough cases of overwhelming hack announcements followed by crappy screenshots weeks after, so screenshotless announcements are not convincing. Not convincing at all. |

Yeah. If that is not enough, tick the "expand ROM to 1 Mbit" option when saving and reinsert the graphics as 4bpp. That should get all the default LM hacks into your ROM. |

When you have a block selected, you need to right-click the 16x16 editor tile you want to copy it over. In your case, you'd need to right-click the block in the red square. Then, press F9. |

http://board.acmlm.org/archive/profile.php?id=201 <-- old profile. Almost hit the 1000 posts. I first got my custom title as a trade for the information on one of the first generation admin-yourself leaks I figured out A few months later, the trade got virtually worthless for me because I joined staff. ![]()

You forgot to add me for C/C++, which actually is the language(s) I know by far the best. |

Intro part of my new SMW hack. No sprites or dialogue in yet, just the background stance. A video is available too.
All I shall tell so far is... the plot is very loosely inspired on Project .hack (or what I know about it, as I have never watched or played anything from these series).

XVI32, because tools you use every day should not be fancy or anything, but just work. I use it for both windows exe and ROM hacking.
|
If I need to do special tasks like tables, converting N-SPC data or generating lengthy x86 instruction chains, I usually quickly write console programs in MSVC for them. I feel more confident in C/C++ than any spoken language, so it really is less work than looking up a tool for the respective task for me. ![]()

Heh. That probably means one of those "unknown" bits enables enemies to breathe fire. Certainly worth checking. |

hamtaro126: bank 0 starts at $304204 and bank one starts at $308204 (both PC addresses).

Keitaro: Sorry, I read your PM at school, after which it vanished off the new PMs and I kinda forgot about it
Anyway, from what I can tell, there is generally enough space in that bank. You need to find the N-SPC copier header for the instrument table (they were built up like Hope that helps. ~blackhole89. (btw, this post made me think about picking it up again and doing the last few lacking pieces of SST)

Hmm... I don't know. On the one hand, this sounds like an interesting thing... on the other, me starting anything new will ultimately end with me neglecting one of my present projects. And that's a lot. (Solar Soundtrack, TwilightRO, my LOLEPICANDHAX SMW hack, my RO map editor, a strategy MMORPG I was coding and probably a lot more I plain off forgot about)
|
Either way... if you are not interested anyway, I won't even bother trying, but if you are, send me a PM... I am bad at refusing anything. ![]()

For your interest: The whole "threat by terrorism" has been inflated by the Bush administration to the size of a fucking GIANT DINOSAUR. The sole fact some islamist madmen have killed 3000 people does not make up for attacking two random countries of which one was not even involved in any way (it is a known fact Saddam and the Islamists hated each other), kill 10 times as many or even more civilians, declare human rights for void and start a worldwide panic propaganda campain. The "threat by terrorism" was inflated by the US government for a basic reason: If they had not invented it, they would not have been elected again.
|
On the topic of all the drama over there concerning the 2000+ US soldiers who died in Iraq: I'd like to remind you that's how war works. Don't act as if losses in war were something new, or the democracy you think to stand for would give you any divine advantage. On the "Islamic Extremist Axis of Evil" arguments - give it another decade and the US will be the exact same as Iran, just with christian rather than islamic extremists. ![]()

Both the CGRAM and the OAM are stored in the half-autonomous PPU of the SNES and can be accessed though specific PPU I/O registers. For CGRAM (palette data), you can read/write an address previously specified by writing the colour index to $2121 (as the CGRAM is 512 bytes large - 2 for each colour - you can only access the even locations in it this way. The odd locations can be accessed through writing/reading from the preceding even location, as both of them increment the internal location pointer by one) by writing to $2122 or reading from $213B. From what I can recall, it works similarly for OAM, just with $2102 for address setting, $2104 for writing and $2138 for reading. Also, $2103 had something to do with it... but I don't know what.

Hope that helps. ~blackhole89 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
