Well, it is condoned by society for the most part. People make squawks about this, that and the other thing. But they're not going to actually rectify the sitation leading to this societal problem. So this brings to question whether the will of society should over ride certain "moral" obligations. And if this is true then any moral (that is, if there are any) considerations surrounding abortion can be tossed out the window.
You know, you can actually give a little lip service to the problem and let the problem perpetuate. You never have to come up with a solution to the root cause of the problem. That's what the abortion debate is about. It is a way to escape other things which more directly affect society as a whole. |

Well, in the terms of a society where you actually have the ability to do something to stop the passivity of the action you can somewhat negate the lack of cause.

Reading the review of Gears of War makes it seem like god sent from above...but there are major issues with it, just like any game

Well, God's "plan" isn't necessarily an accepted point in theology. I'm not going to go into it, but when you're in one of these debates don't bring up highly tenuous theological points to bolster your argument.
But on your point neg, look at what you just said. 1. This has a problem. Rape. 2. Yeah, eugenics...those are cool 3. Holy expensive, bloated bureaucracy Batman! 4. So...making a biological function completely illegal? But this only adds to the "great debate". You're just contravening something. Some women won't WANT to have babies born. There will be illegal abortions. Bam. Problem stands. |

Heh...
Video-games are a massive business nowadays. This is Sony's last chance to really keep its established strength as an electronics super-giant. When the Economist says your forecast ain't cheery... (edited by Plus Sign Abomination on 11-16-06 06:42 PM) |

It was pretty much as bad as he said. It was a bad business plan Sega had. Nothing as bad as what Sony is plotting though. There are many 3rd party developers that are hoping this is Sony's last death cough and they start over again. I don't have much hope in the PS3 being a particularly successful system in the opening stages of the new war. X360 has a fairly good installed base already (one which is going to balloon at Christmas time this year and explode next year). Wii has the ear, eye, heart, and liver of everyone who has set their eyes upon it. It doesn't have the cliquey appeal of iPod like Nintendo hoped. It has something better, in that it is generating interest and debate about the future of interactive entertainment.
I mean PS3 can't be all bad. It has Resistance: Fall of Man. I visited the official website. I've read the reviews. I've played a quick demo. Wow. Amazing game. Immersive, creepy. I'm quite impressed. I hope it gets ported |

Yeah, this whole thing is soooo stupid. Paying that much is ridiculous. It is a pity my mom, grandma, and others didn't take up my offer of using my hard earned money this summer to buy pre-orders across the area and pick them up for resale. Damn, damn, damn. I just bought a collection of books for school on some stuff (you'd laugh if you knew) that is completely PWNING my wallet. Let me just say that if I didn't have to buy them for next semester...I'd have a fucking Wii right now. And a DS. (edited by Plus Sign Abomination on 11-17-06 02:59 AM) |

Ailure, killer apps. Every launch has one or two.
SSX, Halo, (What was Gamecube's?), Zelda TP, etc. For the most part launch titles are generally kind of boring and dreary (see Gungriffon), aside from the afforementioned things that you'd kick your best friend for. Which I have no doubt you would do. |

That was what the trends were pointing to. But the DS caught on with crowds that it wouldn't normally would've. The PSP got a whole lot of bad press just before coming out. It had a high price tag. Things like that.
If Nintendo hadn't managed to get the DS kick off a bit of a word of mouth coupe, things may have turned out a little differently |

Yeah, the fact of the matter is taht I really, really, really disbelieve that. I always hear stories around this place (KIDS GET BEAT UP FOR LINUX).
At this time everyone who is out from under the rock will know what it is. |

They were fortunate that they were able to start such a diverse fanbase using word of mouth to spread it to non-gamers. No luck, just a lot of leg work on that one. That said, the hype about PS3 has been completely negative...but there may be a pressured drive towards the product which may bring up its popularity. It simply depends on how the initial units stand up to quality and how quickly Sony can start dropping out killer apps. (edited by Plus Sign Abomination on 11-18-06 02:24 AM) |

I wonder how many game units per PS3 Sony needs to sell in order to recoup that loss.

I didn't quite see too much journalistic bias in an analytical and cost-break down article.

I've played the game at a homie's.
It is as bad as Xk is saying. Seriously. I had to turn it off and put everything down and cry for a while. |
