Um, to be honest...flipping burgers at a McDonald's isn't going to give you any useful skills later in life.

And you're doing this for a VIDEO GAME CONSOLE!? I'm sorry, but I see nothing but idiocy here. Shouldn't you be working harder at school (which is so easy) and getting high 90 averages. Get a scholarship. Get a sick summer intern job. And then worry about pleasing your temporal desires of a bunch of plastic and melted sand at a later day?

Discuss wrongly about most?

This is an argument of semantics here. The fact of it dwells on that the subjective nature of debate will swing what to what end. I mean, none of these really cause debate controversies when they're done with people that are on debate teams or anything on the like. It is your duty to take them on. Debates like these only invoke controversy when one side lets their emotions get too much into it rather than attempting to take a steady objective look at the issue. And really, I'd say that abortion is either a pigeon card for people trying to use it for political opportunism, ideological balderdash or for shrill religious screamathons.

SS, not to rip or anything. But in the terms of it wouldn't it be fair to state that the passivity that causes these problems could be solved by motivating the groups that actively campaign against abortion to move onto something that affects far more people?

But then, to say it is not identical would be correct. Because abortion is an issue that is easily addressed by humans talking to humans. Poverty is something requires little to no direct person-to-person rationalization. It simply is. However, to not say that they are directly comporable would be a misnomer in the extreme. Many abortions are brought about by a lack of support for the woman and similar issues - which I feel are directly related to poverty. And although passivity is the greatest evil facing the masses of the world today perhaps a pardigm must be inserted here. That Arwon is using this issue as a term of contrast-compare.

Then manufacturers are going to have to find a way for people to return their software if people refuse to sign ridiculous ToS agreements or the fact that the game is not properly billed as requiring content additions to become the full game - rather than content additions being simply content that is additional, but not necessarily necessary.

This is the next hurdle facing both the gaming community and the industry. The community needs to understand that they're the whole support of an industry. And that it is the consumer that controls industry through demand. Thus, gamers will have to band together to form powerful groups that can pressure the larger companies to put in quality control mechanisms. They already gave themselves the rating system. Whats to say that user directed policy can't be implemented?

Oh, and again, I understand. But I mean, in the terms of it...I think that the poll can be a little off putting and alienating for many people in major debates. But as for controversy - I think that the Iran-American relationships on the lead up to the Iraq conflict are probably the most controversial issue that no one here will ever hear about.

I think that this should just be created as a pre-emptive movement for the cause of good thread creation.

I am not too sure what went on with that whole debacle. It was a massive load of confusing and muckracking. I tried to follow it. But the issues in Romania and Bulgaria's assent to the EU and the Hungarian riots (not to mention the shake-ups in Ukraine and Poland at this time...Plus, the damned changes in relations and policies of Russia, Belarus, China, Kazakstan, Iran, and Turkmenistan...Plus Georgia's diploroe) kind of took precedent with regards to my work.

So, I'll bum out of this thread and try to get some analysis in once I know what the hell is going on in the old US of A.

I could've SWORN that it was Plato's Republic.

And I mean, no it is no worry when we have crazies in our army! Nop harm or worry of homegrown right wingers trained in the craziness at all! Let's just ignore the recent Belgian example.

You know...I'm just not going to argue with you on that point. Because I'm...I'm not going to lie. I'm objectively right. You're just wrong. I don't think you need to apologize for being wrong. It just happens. Plato wrote it as a useage of the Socratic dialogue to further his ideas. In it the revered Socrates is merely a character who plays a role in it. All things are created by Plato for the usage and furtherance of his philosophical ideology. Socrates' role is there alright...except he'd been dead for quite a while before the book was written. So...yeah. Don't be sorry.

As for your point...you don't have to live in the U.S. to have a bad time around American soldiers. They have a less then sterling reputation the world round for various aspects of their behaviour (that is not to cast a bad light on them...I have a few friends who WERE in the US army during the 'Nam and they're great people). Besides...How do you know anything about anywhere else but America. You don't live there. I fail to see the logic in how that transmits knowledge.

But that point aside this is a problem common to many nations. I've cited the recent example (however extreme) of what occurred in Belgium. Partisanship and the military must be seperate at pretty much any cost or else the military can act as a political chess piece. And that is nasty as hell. Look at Thailand's history or various other nations where there have been military driven political coupes. Venezuala for instance. Politics + active soldiery ideals = dangerous mix. This isn't a little angelic vision of what should be. It is simply something ought be enforced for the safety of a state.

Vetoing investigations is fishy and dangerous politically. It makes things seem bigger and more evil than they are (unless they really are that nasty) and could potentially FURTHER ruin Republican political recovery.

PS - Dr_Death16. The Inquisition is now a generic term used for a multitude of scenarios. I mean look at the word ostracize - people aren't breaking jars to do it anymore.

Ultimately he doesn't have to justify himself. It is his own damned choice. I see people do lots of stupid and unhealthy things every day, pot being the least of the damned pile. Unless it is a threat to society as a whole...I really couldn't give less of a flying fuck.

But I have to bring up the fact that as a society we blur the lines of what medication is. I mean...LSD and MDMA started out as psychiatric drugs that just got popularized for their use and its users brought their drugs to the street - where it became abused. On that point it is pretty much generally agreed that pot has various medicinal uses. And however probable it is that RM just uses it for fun (of which there is no serious ills done) it must be said that others do not (see: Tarale's post).

Then there is the fact that there are entheogens. Unless we want to go off and call various things nothing more than abuse.

...You do realize that the US has lower social mobility than the Scandinavian nations? I mean, capitalism is great and all. I love it. Woo, free market. But seriously, do you actually believe the ideological grounds that ANYONE who works hard in a nation that is capitalist can make it? But that is an aside.

Seriously, tell me...what do you know about marijuana DD16? I mean, I'm looking at the facts here...and it is pointing to very little. Hallucinations? To reach that you'd need unbelievably high doses and and unbelievably low body tolerance (which usually results in the person falling asleep or vomiting before hallucinating). I'm looking through your post and I'm looking at the words of someone who has a vendetta against pot because mommy and daddy sat them down to watch Devil's Harvest or something. But then again, I don't look down at pot heads. Many of the most successful people I know in life enjoy marijuana...and I'd mention some names...but I think we all love and <3 anonymity.

Clearly, the fact of the matter is that I've merely awoken from a terrible dream. I'm simply waking into real life where I'm most obviously Batman and this is CLEARLY Gotham City. I'm going to Batdance all over the place.

This is the one argument I have to bring up about UFOs and Loose Change.

UFOs are anything that you don't exactly know what it is in the sky. If you see a flock of birds off in the distance and it looks kind of eerie...it is a UFO.

Loose Change,

Yeah, that's true. Your life is plenty fine. You don't need to do drugs or drink. In fact, my life is fan-fucking-tastic. I'm not lying. Probably 1000x times better than most people's lives. That's no word of a lie, either. I don't need to smoke pot. Hell, I've smoked pot MAYBE 4 times in the entire past year and a half. It just pops up and is at that party with your homies. Why not have a hit from the bong and have a good laugh? Meh, my choice. As for alcohol...nothing like a piping hot glass of vinterbier at the fireplace, or some eggnog at the Christmas Ball.

As for your friends. I've grown up in an area where I think I had...2 friends who never did pot. I live with 3 people that smoke marijuana regularly. Last year I hung around with students that smoked it all the time. No one ever got hallucinations. And the weed that we smoke up this way is pretty much the most awesome stuff available in our area. I had smoked marijuana since I was 12. I never once hallucinated. I'm going to trust about 8 years of collected personal experience and probably the testimonials of my friends, their parents (all of whom are considerably more successful than most here shall ever be) and other people that I've known for that sum of 20 years. Not to mention the fact that for a year I was pretty active in the cannabis community. Nobody has ever really spoken of hallucinations. Is it possible your friends are doing laced marijuana (pretty rare), salvia divinorum (rarer still in some areas of the states), or another drug and mistaking it for marijuana?

"I disagree with your statement about mommy and daddy forcing him to watch biased propaganda."
- That's what his words sound like, though. A subtle rehash of the hilarious 1930s-50s anti-marijuana propoganda that has bubbled up through the ages in the constant stream of misinformation passed on the public by a government that is ideologically driven to attack the problem of drugs rather than trying to deal with it in a reasonable way.

But again, I'm probably sounding like some crazed druggy hippy right now and I'll just pull away at this point. But then again, I don't think you'd know Danielle because I talk to you once in a blue moon on friendly terms, you know - people are sometimes more than they seem.

edit: wow, way to defend with a post-haste argument that discredits all you said and chalks up one of your primary arguments to a "childhood exaggeration". If you're going to try to attack something, don't dodge with such illogical measures.

I'm sick of arguing with kids like this. There is a total of two contributed drops in the idea bucket from that side of the room. I think I'm just going to stick to the debate team and save some time I can toss at my essays.
