Over the past few weeks two major heroes of mine passed on. The first was Jane Jacobs a sociologist who greatly criticized politicians of all stripes and argued that the people ought to get what people ought to get. She looked at cities in a human light. When she moved to Toronto she fought for my now-home-city until her very last days. All said she was a great asset and an inspiration.

Another one is the economist/Harvard Prof./lots of other important, important other things JK Galbraith. He was a man that understood how the world worked and saw it not through a cipher of greed as far too many people do, rather he saw it through a skeptical lens that encouraged compassion. I suppose the reason I like him so much is just one quote that is a very strong inspiration and should be taken to heart by all young people who seem to be fighting the losing battle of justice. "There are times in politics when you must be on the right side and lose.".

Plus they're a fairly well equipped nation in terms of military strength. They would fall in a matter of weeks if the US and a small coalition of other similarily powerful nations were to attack, but the casualties would be enormous for both sides. In addition to that this is a hornet's nest issue - Russia and China (two major emerging economies) are both on the side of Iran. Nothing can get through the Security Council with them blocking motions. That's the skippy of the situation. Now, to say that we ought to let Iran build a bomb...I say we shouldn't. I'm actually quite against the proliferation of nuclear weapons in powder keg areas. Besides, a peaceful nuclear program that has enough centrifuges and enough equipment to enrich uranium to a point where it can be used in reactors is a fairly simple request to fulfill. Even if they had the nuclear technology to generate the power it would take quite a while to get their scientists to fully devise and test a nuclear device.

Besides, the man power required and the risk of a missile strike on the Persian Gulf fleet within the opening minutes of a conflict pretty much negate the gains of stopping them from attaining nuclear power generation. The Natanz complex and others like it may seem big and scary, but they're all across the world.

Wii isn't bad. But it just allows me to make jokes. I mean, come on...Gaystation 3, Butt-SeX-Box ReachAround and...Wii. They've covered it themselves this time.

There is a 1up.com article about the name has it being quite looked down upon by the Japanese industry insiders. An odd turn, to say the least. The article is here and is okay, I guess. I mean, this people are far more qualified to speak on general market trends than a bunch of gaming enthusiasts that are out of touch with the reality of the GENERAL public.

Ultimately I've thrown my cards in for the oncoming systems and if I'm going to buy one it is going to be the Wii. If only because I don't really play that many online games anymore and I just want something I can pick up and play and have some quick fun with. Like Smash Bros. or if Halo 3 knocks my socks off perhaps the 360 will come to me. I'm a little unsure right now, but for the simple fact of economics (and the fact that I just pre-ordered a DS Lite) I'm leaning towards getting the Wii. Remember, I was underwhelmed with the Gamecube this generation when compared to my chosen system, the X-Box. Thus far I've not been happy with Microsoft's strategy. Nintendo's has been so weird and bouncy (and the fact that it is easy to make fun of) that I adore them right now. Sony, as always, has been underwhelming me with their gross arrogance.

I had meatloaf, zucchini in butter and carrots. I also ate a plate of broccoli and peppers. I drank 3/4 litre of water. I ate an orange, two bananas and an apple for desert. For my late night snack I ate three table spoons of peanut butter. |
As for you, do you have any skill with making fish dishes? They're great to serve with a good red wine and since you're an Aussie you have no shortage.

Japan, Brazil, Russia, China, Canada, Britain, France, Pakistan, India, United States, Israel...well, they all have nuclear power generation capabilities. Better start bombing them if you don't want those nasty terrorists getting at that precious, precious nukul0r wastez.

I'm not meant for my program at school, but my situation was different. I had no passion about it. Theology? I hate it. Philosophy? Doesn't mesh with me. Trunxy here is a great young man and he IS passionate. He is doing this for selfless goals. I'm sure that if he sucks up one bad year (as I have had to do) he'll shine in the next three and go on to med-school. Failing that he can make it anywhere else. My only advice is that he seriously consider what he is doing. It's better to admit dislike and inpropriety in the beginning than wait til' the end.
