O_o How come I haven't heard any of this? Is it proven, or another one of those conspiracy theories?

Anyway, I can't see that genetically altered plants can help world hunger. Most of the farmland is already taken up and the world does produce enough, but unless these altered plants were grown in like labs for 1/10th the time it takes to grow it normally, i'd say no.

Great Depression?

They ruined grain after the Canadian export flooded the world market which drove prices down to miniscule numbers. All to bring prices up. But I've not heard about this sort of activity happening relatively recently.

It's Ash Wednesday (following Pancake Tuesday).

Tell me, what did you sacrifice for Lent?

I'm actually doing that. I've taken up reading the life of a Saint at least once a week. Currently I'm reading about Saint Foy. I've also given up video games for the month.

Ummm...Yeah.

That was...kinda...you know...my point...Montreal is cosmopolitan...and the French cultural there doesn't hold a candle to the rural and smaller urban areas.

Well, my rationale behind it is that it has been isolating me from people and I don't feel that using video games as my primary source of socialization with my comrades is truly allowing me to shine in any way. Given that they have become increasingly frustrating to me and often cause me to become fairly angry I feel it is best that I use the hours I'd spend daily on video games to go to sleep earlier as I've finished my homework earlier.

Yeah, but you guys have to take into account that the hunger problem isn't just because food is difficult to grow, it's hard to distribute. You can't just airdrop seeds onto a field and expect people to know what to do. They'll need equipment and training. Infrastructure within these areas is VERY important so as to provide education and allow for distribution of surplus foods...as well as protect the farmers from potential hazards.

If all it took was to give someone some wheat with a chunk of dog DNA in it to fix all of Africa's hunger we'd have done it by now.

Ah, I return.

Suffice to say, it was a good night. My friends took me out to a local bar - the first one I've ever been to legally. We hung around and I thought it kicked ass. We stole some glasses and a few pitchers. Stuff like that - mostly to adorn our domiciles. We also took a 50 lb traffic pylon. Which was pretty sweet. We've all signed it and put it in our common room. We also took a "Tree Protection Zone" sign, which now adornes my pot-head friend's room.

However, on our way back bad things did happen. Two of my friends were questioned by the police for kicking a pylon and tipping newspaper boxes. Believe it or not, I tried to stop them. They were drunker than I and thusly had to be controlled. But I too was fairly intoxicated and as such often times didn't care. While on my way back I saw one of the huge 250 lb flower pots, which I just couldn't resist. So I tipped it. Since it's winter they remove the top part of the soil and add water to freeze the bottom so I didn't create a mess. And they're fairly easy to put back in place

Overall, it was a really fun birthday. I've also managed to not go to the strippers, which I shall refuse to do most vehemently.

edit:: Thanks for the PMs

And the more I think of it the more that flower pot challenged me!

Pardon?

I find it quite odd that you assume that. I mean, Yugoslavia was a fairly well-to-do country and peace corps are still there. Liberia, too, was the gem of Africa...now look at Ivory Coast. But pulling a poor country from poverty doesn't preclude a gigantic civil war, or anything.

Let's not

I've thought of doing it so many times, have an ACMLM Reunion...but I think that alot of people may still be harbouring ill will towards each other in some cases. Plus, I'm slowly leaving. Doing this will only cause me to stay around longer. Don't extend my pain.

I'd like to see a lot of the people again. Find out what's happened to them. It's been good to see you, Shroomy and now Ephrion back. However, the sporadic appearances of Mesia and Sofie leave much to be desired

O'Reilly is a creep, I only watch him because he is fairly entertaining. You don't really learn anything or think about what he is saying, but damn do you laugh!

About 80% of the population, according to Kinsey, can be classed in different degrees of bi-sexuality.

I myself am not too attracted to guys, not enough to feel sexual arousal at any point.

However this raises the question of the validity of bi-sexuality. I know a lot of my gay/lesbian friends look down on it, quite harshly too. They think you're either one or the other. My straight friends see it as an attention plea. I find both of these opinions to be fairly bothersome, because it negates all sorts of things.
