Speaking of lurkers, here I am.

Hi.

A friend of mine, Bloodstar, keeps pestering me to post here more often. BUT I SHALL NOT LET THIS HAPPEN. I shall be the KING of all lurkers.

Crap, I didn't just ruin my reputation as a totally awesome lurker, did I?

Oh well.

Anyway, to make this post feel less like a spammy introduction post, I used to be an active poster with like around 50 posts on one of the older incarnations, but for the longest time I was even a lurker with 3 posts on that one. I typically think a lurker is defined as someone who reads much more than they post.

Now, I'm going to go back to being a lurker probably... unless someone can actually give me incentive to post more often

Good luck getting better, man. I think you'll make a pretty speedy recovery... it does suck, but think of what the alternative to not getting surgery would have been. Things could be a lot worse... I think you're pretty fortunate.

by the way, I didn't have trouble reading your last post, for what it's worth. Good luck with it all, man. I'm here for you, and I'm sure other people are too.

This is the best feature to ever grace Acmlmboard.

And I know I'm nothing but a mere lurker, but I think I can easily say that it's absolutely glorious in every sense of the word.

Are you kidding me, or are you serious?

I'm quite serious. I donned a disguise of stupidity and ignorance in order to be the fire board members' equals. It worked, didn't it? Sure had you, and the whole fire board adminstration fooled. Not that it is a strenuous task to fool them, but acting like LK Invisable takes hard work and dedication.

I was gonna do something like that but figured it wasn't worth my time in the end. It would have been funny though, and I was actually working on it for a little bit, but then in the end I just ended up spamming like a retard.

Had I known it was gonna get hacked, though, I probably wouldn't have bothered to register besides to look for funny quotes. Damn.

You have an excuse, English isn't your first language. And besides, I think the occasional mistake, typo, whatever is okay, but when your entire posts are littered with them, it's a problem. It's a big, big problem when your posts aren't even legible and "lok liek tis hey guyz r u 2 be reding wat im sayin jo".

Perfect grammar isn't a necessity, but being able to at least construct readable posts is. I'm normally not very picky about grammar, but the guys on Fireboard are just weak. Plus, I'm pretty damn sure that most of them are from the United States, the UK, or somewhere else where English is widespread. (although English, I fear, is becoming less and less widespread in the US )

Yes, but why does the reader need to put the effort into reading the post when the writer could just as easily put the effort into writing it correctly? I merely ignore posts (sometimes posters) with horrid writing; if you truly do have a point and want it to be read, then you should probably put the effort into making it readable by most people.

Think of it this way: When the writer spends the time to seek out errors in their post, they're only taking up one person's time: their own. When the writer does not, they're wasting the time of every single person to read that post. And that's bad.

What's even worse is that it shows the poster doesn't care about how they're viewed; generally, posts with sloppy writing show a lot about the poster's ability to read and write, skills that are necessary on something like a message board. It shows, to me, one of two things:
1. That they're not very smart;
2. That they're just flat-out lazy.

Yes, I'm generally picky about writing and grammar and spelling and whatnot, but generally, posts that actually have a point also have a lot of time spent on them. Why bother to read a post that feels like it's... just... pointless?

But it doesn't need to be that way, the idea needs only to go across, as it does.

True; it doesn't need to be overly pretentious, but it does need to feel like it's overall readable at first glance. It's just good manners to make sure your post is readable, something that I think means everything on something as social as a message board. This is coming from someone who's generally not very picky about "manners" and whatnot, too.

I've administrated at one message board, and there was this, like, fourteen-year-old Naruto fan who would get on late at night and spam and say the most absurd things you've ever heard in your life. Y'know why? It all started because I warned him for trolling on one occasion. A minor case of trolling. On one occasion.

Then he went ballistic and started flaming me, temp-banned him, started spamming on several different accounts, perma-banned him and his alt accounts... I even told him several times that I would let him back on if he could not spam the forum for even a month. Didn't end up happening, and I knew it wouldn't, but I figured it'd be okay if I gave him a chance. Or two. Or twenty. All of which he blatantly refused.

It's kind of sad because he obviously cared about the forum a lot, but he thought the best way to get unbanned was to begin spamming it like a retard. Poor kid, I kinda feel sorry for him.

But, oh my GOD. This kid would go on rants about how I wasn't a "true Naruto fan". I would un-IP ban him with the intent of giving him another shot, and every time he claimed that he'd hacked his way back onto the board using a program. So, not only did he claim to be a hacker, but he claimed to be a script kiddie as well. Even though he was even pretty pathetic for a script kiddie.

I don't have any way of accessing some of the stuff he said, but it was hilarious. Bloodstar was actually a member of that board, so he might remember it.

Posted on 09-09-06 06:14 AM, in my ds lite Link
I got a DS Lite just yesterday. It's awesome. The display is so much clearer and sharper than the original DS; the original DS felt blurry and the colors feel pretty dull compared to this version. And the power button isn't in a place where I can just press it and it goes... "Oops! System off, LOL!" The bigger stylus is a plus too, since it's harder to lose and I have siblings who have a tendency to not put stuff up when they're done with...

I don't really see how it's hard to hold, I have pretty big hands and I've haven't noticed any problems with holding it... now, the GBASP is a pain in the ass to hold. I actually use the Gameboy Player or the DS when I can.

If you're wondering why I didn't wait for the black DS Lite, it's because I'm not a fan of black stuff anyway. I'd rather use the white DS Lite anyday. Black's totally for emo kids anyway

I was gonna say the same thing, but then I realize that I was probably never as dumb as the people on Fireboard.

Come to think of it, though, I might've been about five years ago. And that does not say much good about my current self.

Bane King raises a lot of interesting points. I think the thing is is that most of the people on that board are kids. I mean, when I say kids, I mean kids. I'm pretty sure that most of the people on that board are under 13.

Peh, CSS is easy to learn. I don't see what's stopping you, unless you really don't have any free time whatsoever. I mean, think about it, I know CSS. That says a lot about how easy it is to learn, really I'm not saying you have to use it, but it's a pretty nice option that's easily available.

Of course, I don't think asking an internet message board is the best place to find someone to hire you. I'm not saying that the people of this board are incapable of designing webpages, hardly, but I'm not sure if you'll find anyone willing to work with you, even if you have money

Then again, I bet, knowing my ability to get into ironic situations without realizing it, I bet someone will take you up on your offer right after I post this. On second thought, me pointing this out has ruined my chances of getting into this "ironic situation". Oh well.

On an other note: I posted this topic on Gaia and, right away, someone posts "WALL OF TEXT". Are people there so fucking illiterate and screwed up with ADHD that they need their text in small bite sized portions? God I hate that place now.

"WALL OF TEXT" is a retarded GameFAQs fad. I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge that people at Gaia were fucking stupid though. Don't listen to those retards.

My Mom avoids shopping at Wal-Mart when she can. This one time, some horridly fat, southern-accented, middle aged soccer mom hag told me I couldn't buy Half-Life 2 because it was M-Rated and my siblings looked too young to be playing it. Despite the fact that my mother was right there, she tried to police me and my siblings and told us we couldn't buy it. My Mom goes "Well, I think that's stupid" and she's like "I don't think that's stupid" and Mom's like "Who cares what you think, you're in your forties and you're a cashier at Wal-Mart". It was GLORIOUS.

I would love to be able to not sleep, myself. I haven't had problems sleeping in several years. The problem for me lies within waking up; I'm not a morning person at all

Used to, when I actually did have problems sleeping, I'd just do stupidly strenuous physical or mental activity. Either that or I'd play video games. Anything to "wear me out".

I'm gonna be honest and say that I really don't know the guy well at all as a part of Top Gear, but I've seen him on Brainiac: Science Abuse. I saw a few episodes of it on a certain online Wimap TV station.

If his situation isn't critical, than that's quite obviously a good thing. All I can do is hope there are no complications.

I also have a hidden folder called /bzort/ in a random location on my hard drive for... hidden things.

As far as fast food goes, erm... Burger King is okay, so is Wendy's (although their food is cold a lot of the time, unfortunately ), but who I really love is Arby's. Oh god I haven't been to Arby's in a long time but eating there again would be awesome. They have the best Chicken EVER and their curly fries are orgasmic. <3

Those aren't at all justifiable either. The chewing gum is on the same wavelength. Wanting to kill people over material possessions is dumb and there's no justifying it at all. Xboxes are not anymore "precious" than say, y'know, a HUMAN LIFE.
Disregard that, I'm a total retard.
