| You're thinking of lead, Shyguy. Graphite is pure carbon.
Edit: And before anyone says it, I know pencil lead isn't pure graphite and contains clay, but the clay is also neutral and it's a lot more accurate than pencil lead itself. Edit edit: And I'm aware that the pencil lead in mechanical pencils is also mixed with wax, so don't mention that either. Again, neutral substance.
