Greetings. Some of you may remember me from a couple years ago on the SMW Hacking forum before it got nuked. I made a couple custom blocks for people and answered some ASM questions for a while. I'm a computer programmer by trade, and for my hack I am rewriting almost all of the code from scratch.

I'd really like to get back into the community and start pushing the limits of what can be done with an SMW hack again. - rubixcuber

If you want to look into OpenGl, I would suggest looking at some of the tutorials here: http://nehe.gamedev.net/lesson.asp?index=01. If you're experienced with programming, and just haven't done much with 3D, it's not that big of a transition. OpenGL can seem pretty daunting at first, but there's a lot of resources out there. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

How to swap two variables without creating a temporary variable:

If you have two variables A and B which you want to swap

1) A = A XOR B
2) B = B XOR A
3) A = A XOR B

And there you have it!

I think this is a big problem in today's society. People who don't have problems with depression think of depression as a state of mind. They think that if people who are depressed just stop being negative, everything will magically get better. People fail to realize that there depression can be a legitimate medical condition which needs treatment and medication just like any other condition. I myself suffer from depression, and it is very hard to deal with people who don't think it's a real condition.

Sometimes I read things like this and wonder what the world is coming to. I hope this doesn't become a precedent for protecting spammers.

While pulling out of Iraq would save the US a lot of money, I don't think there is any chance of us pulling out for financial reasons. Personally I think that the amount of money spent on sports is ridiculous. If just 1% of the salaries of all the sports players in the US went towards education and other necessities it could make a difference.

I have to second xZeaLitYx. The world could certainly use some nice Chrono Trigger hacks. Nice links by the way xZeaLitYx, I may take a look at making a Chrono Trigger hack after I finish my SMW one.

Wow, that's pretty neat. I made a program in C++ like that for SMW to reference while I was making my hack. I could probably make a PHP version like this if someone asked really nicely.

Hello everyone. I've been around for a long time, but didn't post very often and am just registering again after the move to the new board. I'm male, 21 years old, and live in St. Louis, MO. I work as a computer programmer for a local company, but what I really want to do is develop games.

For probably the better part of 8 years I averaged about 3-4 hours of sleep a night. I think there are a lot of things that can contribute to not being able to sleep. I would try these:

1) Remove or cover up all light sources, even the smallest ones.
2) Get rid of any noise. If your computer is near and isn't silent, turn it off.
3) Avoid caffeine like the plague.
4) About an hour or so before you go to sleep turn off the lights, your body will start getting ready to go to sleep.
5) If your mind is running at night try to practice clearing your mind and calming your self down. Get out of the habit of thinking about things when you get bored 'cause you can't sleep.
6) Try some different covers/pillows/whatever. Comfort is important for those with trouble sleeping.

I liked Resident Evil, and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. I don't think either of them were especially reminiscent of the games, but taking them to be not part of the series I enjoyed them.

I don't know about everyone else, but I left RO in favor of Maple Story. It's similar in a way, and totally free. Well, I suppose RO is free if you're willing to play on a private server, but that's another issue altogether...

I think another Chrono game would be great. I'm of the opinion that the FF series has gone down the tubes, but maybe that's just me. I only want to see another FF if it's a good FF.

Posted on 09-19-06 03:36 AM, in What does it mean when a computer won't turn on for a while and then will later start working again? Link
Did the computer develop this behavior or has it had this behavior from the start? I ask because I ran into this problem working as tech support not that long ago and in that case it was being caused by flaky electricity in the building. If it's not one of the more likely problems people have already mentioned, you might try running the computer through an uninterrupted power source and see if that helps.

Posted on 09-19-06 03:49 AM, in Taskbar apparently doesn't like me. Link
Here's a registry file that should undo anything nasty done to your taskbar by third party programs. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/nodesktop.reg With any luck that will fix your problem. Just to warn you, it will probably remove any customization or other toolbars you might have. It will restore the original XP taskbar.
